Abstract: The objective of this paper is to conduct a comparative study based on Rusydi Ahmad Thu’aimah’s view between the Arabic textbook for grade 10 of Madrasah Aliyah in Indonesia with 2013 scientific curriculum approach and Al Lughah Al ‘Arabiyah marhalah Mutawasithah Uulaa textbook in Thailand. The aspects compared in this study include language, language skills, vocabulary learning, and nahwu learning. The data collection method used is the documentation method. The analysis steps include data collection and field survey, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result of this study shows that Arabic textbook in Indonesia adheres better to the criteria based on Rusydi Ahmad Thu’aimah’s view especially in language skills, vocabulary learning, and nahwu learning compared to the Arabic textbook from Thailand which only adheres to the criteria based on Rusydi Ahmad Thu’aimah’s view in the aspect of the language used in the book. Keywords: comparative, textbooks, Arabic, Indonesia, Thailand Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan studi komparatif berdasarkan pandangan Rusydi Ahmad Thu’aimah antara Buku Siswa Bahasa Arab Pendekatan Saintifik Kurikulum 2013 X Madrasah Aliyah  dari Indonesia dan buku Al Lughah Al ‘Arabiyah marhalah Mutawasithah Uulaa dari Thailand. The study aimed at establishing the application of benchmarking as a tool for continuous improvement within Parastatals in the Ministry of Agriculture in Kenya. The study used descriptive research in its methodology. The study took the design of a survey. Data collection was effected by use of structured questionnaires, which targeted senior, middle-level management and the equivalent. The targeted population was the 24 parastatals with the Ministry of Agriculture in Kenya. The questionnaire was self-administered through the drop –and-pick approach, coded, checked for any errors and omissions. The study established that certain challenges need to be addressed within the Ministry of Agriculture parastatals; comparability of the parastatals and their operation processes, seeking aid and support from sources and institutions that might be able to point to and convince potential partners, finding benchmarking collaborators willing to participate in the benchmarking studies, applying a systematic procedure whereby a large number of potential benchmarking partners are scanned for relevance and high performance, exchanging all possible background information beforehand. The other challenges with a mean of three seem to be coupled with uncertainties on their influence on the success of the benchmarking technique as a tool of continuous improvement. Delays in remission of questionnaires was experienced, submission of irrelevant information, transportation difficult given the location of some of the parastatals, and challenges were encountered in undertaking literature review given the poorly equipped laboratories with ICT and e-operations.

Abstract At The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) we treat many children requiring tracheostomy tube placement. With potential for a tracheostomy tube to be in place for an extended period of time, these children may be at risk for long-term disruption to normal speech development. As such, speaking valves that restore more normal phonation are often key tools in the effort to restore speech and promote more typical language development in this population. However, successful use of speaking valves is frequently more challenging with infant and pediatric patients than with adult patients. The purpose of this article is to review background information related to speaking valves, the indications for one-way valve use, criteria for candidacy, and the benefits of using speaking valves in the pediatric population. This review will emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration from the perspectives of speech-language pathology and respiratory therapy. Along with the background information, we will present current practices and a case study to illustrate a safe and systematic approach to speaking valve implementation based upon our experiences.

Abstract. Background: Information on methods of suicide is available online, and access to information on methods of suicide appears to contribute to a small but significant proportion of suicides. There is limited documentation of how methods of suicide are being profiled, as well as what content exists in other languages than English. Aim: We aimed to analyze and compare how methods of suicide are profiled on Danish and English-language websites. Method: We applied a categorization and content analysis of websites describing methods of suicide. Sites were retrieved by applying widely used Danish and English-language search terms. Results: A total of 136 English-language websites and 106 Danish-language websites were included for analysis. Websites were more often categorized as prevention or support sites, academic or policy sites, and against suicide sites than dedicated suicide sites (i.e., pro-suicide sites), or information sites. However, information on methods of suicide was available, and 20.1% and 8.9% of the English and Danish-language sites, respectively, suggested that a particular method of suicide was quick, easy, painless, or certain to result in death. Limitations: Only one author coded and analyzed all websites. A further operationalization of the content analysis checklist is warranted to increase reliability. Conclusion: The websites primarily had a prevention or anti-suicide focus, but information on methods of suicide was available, requiring an increased focus on how to diminish the negative effects of harmful online content.

Abstract. Research demonstrates that the negative relationship between Openness to Experience and conservatism is heightened among the informed. We extend this literature using national survey data (Study 1; N = 13,203) and data from students (Study 2; N = 311). As predicted, education – a correlate of political sophistication – strengthened the negative relationship between Openness and conservatism (Study 1). Study 2 employed a knowledge-based measure of political sophistication to show that the Openness × Political Sophistication interaction was restricted to the Openness aspect of Openness. These studies demonstrate that knowledge helps people align their ideology with their personality, but that the Openness × Political Sophistication interaction is specific to one aspect of Openness – nuances that are overlooked in the literature.
