The Boundary Element Method (BEM) has seen increasing use in the space industry to predict vibroacoustic responses of spacecraft and launch vehicle structures. The BEM application is used in the low-frequency regime where Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) is usually inapplicable. This paper documents a vibroacoustic study of the Delta II 10-ft composite fairing using BEM and SEA. The fairing vibration and internal acoustic levels are predicted. The BEM and SEA predictions are compared with data from the Delta II 10-ft composite fairing acoustic test. The relative accuracy of the BEM and SEA methods in various frequency ranges is discussed. In addition, computer system requirements and lessons learned from BEM and SEA modeling are presented.

This thesis proposes a design of digital stepper motor control system, with FPGA as control core, communicates with LabVIEW host computer system via RS232 serial port. The host computer control system is programmed in LabVIEW, and can be used to choose working mode, rotation direction, run or stop, steps and angles for rotation. The slave computer system takes EP2C8Q208C8N chip of Altera Corporation’s Cyclone II series as the core, to construct the hardware environment of the system. And it could driver stepper motor correspondingly according to the received commands that sent by host computer. This design provides a new idea for development and application of embedded system, and has a certain reference value for the development of new product.
