SummaryThe authors describe a procedure for measuring organ concentration of radioactivity in subjects who have been given a radioactive substance either orally or intravenously.The procedure is based on measurements with a properly collimated scintillation counter, a single-channel analyzer and a scaler.Experiments were done using phantoms of different type, simulating some geometrical situations occurring in patients.“In vivo” controls were performed in some cases at surgical operations.The authors believe that the suggested procedure, if carried out properly, can be successfully used in practice and is especially useful when the concen tration cannot be determined directly by counting samples drawn from the regions of interest.
