We analyze the self-similarity approach applied to study the hadron production in pp and AA collisions. This approach allows us to describe rather well the ratio of the proton to antiproton yields in AA collisions as a function of the energy at a wide range from a few GeV to a few TeV. We suggest a modification of this approach to describe rather well the inclusive spectra of hadrons produced in pp collisions at different initial energies from the AGS to LHC.

Our focus in this work would be concentrated on trying to understand the nature of some very important observables measured for deuteron–gold (d + Au) collisions at relativistic heavy ion collider (RHIC) energies in the light of a particular phenomenological model that we had applied earlier in analyzing data for PP collisions at RHIC and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) energies with a fair degree of success. In this particular case, as well, our observations and conclusions are exactly similar to those in our previous work. The emphatic ending points, on the whole, to some gross limitations of the chosen phenomenological approach in particular and of the phenomenology as such in general.PACS Nos.: 13.60.Hb, 13.60.Le, 13.60.Rj, 13.85.Ni

The Mean

A transport model based on the mean free path approach to describe pp collisions is proposed. We assume that hadrons can be treated as bags of partons similarly to the MIT bag model. When the energy density in the collision is higher than a critical value, the bags break and partons are liberated. The partons expand and can coalesce to form new hadrons. The results obtained compare very well with available data, and some predictions for higher energies collisions are discussed. Based on the model we suggest that a QGP could already be formed in pp collisions at high energies.
