Abstract High-performance low-cost flexible hybrid electronics (FHE) are desirable for applications such as internet of things and wearable electronics. Carbon nanotube (CNT) thin-film transistor (TFT) is a promising candidate for high-performance FHE because of its high carrier mobility, superior mechanical flexibility, and material compatibility with low-cost printing and solution processes. Flexible sensors and peripheral CNT-TFT circuits, such as decoders, drivers, and sense amplifiers, can be printed and hybrid-integrated with thinned (<50 μm) silicon chips on soft, thin, and flexible substrates for a wide range of applications, from flexible displays to wearable medical devices. Here, we report (1) a process design kit (PDK) to enable FHE design automation for large-scale FHE circuits and (2) solution process-proven intellectual property blocks for TFT circuits design, including Pseudo-Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (Pseudo-CMOS) flexible digital logic and analog amplifiers. The FHE-PDK is fully compatible with popular silicon design tools for design and simulation of hybrid-integrated flexible circuits.

The process design of profile ring rolling for a large-scale turbine diaphragm was made using the calculation method and three dimensional finite element method (FEM). The design criteria are to achieve uniform distributions of strain and temperature, and defect-free profiled ring products. Based on the compression test results of the low alloy steel, deformation processing map was generated using the combination of the dynamic materials model (DMM) and stable or unstable forming criteria. The processing map was used to determine the optimum ring rolling temperature and feed rate of the mandrel. FEM analysis was simulated to predict the formation of rolling defects and deformed shape in the profile ring rolled diaphragm product. Finally, optimum process design to obtain a sound large-scale turbine diaphragm without forming defects was suggested and its validation was made by the comparison between the experimental data and FE analysis results.

In the last years rice cultivation methods have been the object of an intense research activity aiming to implement new irrigation methods in addition to traditional flooding, in order to reduce water use. This change has concerned also the traditional paddy-rice territories of the north-west of Italy, where rice has been traditionally cultivated as flooded and where paddy fields are a strong landscape landmark and represent a central feature in the Italian and European network for nature protection. The new techniques introduced in these territories consist in a dry seeding followed by field flooding after about one month (third-fourth leaf), and in a full aerobic cultivation with intermittent irrigations, similarly to standard irrigated crops. This paper presents the results obtained after the first year of a monitoring activity carried out at the Ente Nazionale Risi Experimental Station of Castello d’Agogna-Mortara (PV, Italy), where the main terms of water balance have been measured or estimated during the whole crop season. Because there is a substantial lack of data concerning the water balance related to the new water management techniques, the data are of wide interest despite this study covered only one season. The results here presented show that dry seeding-delayed flooding method required a rather similar amount of water respect to the traditional flooding method (2200 mm and 2491 mm, respectively), whereas the aerobic technique required one order of magnitude less water (298 mm), also due to the very shallow depth of the surface aquifer. Since evapotranspiration was nearly the same for the three methods (578 mm, 555 mm, and 464 mm, respectively for traditional flooded, dry seeding-delayed flooding and aerobic methods), percolation was very high in the case of the two flooded methods and very limited in the case of the aerobic cultivation with intermittent irrigations. These results suggest that, if the aerobic cultivation of rice represents a highly effective water-saving technique at the field scale, at the same time if applied on a large scale in traditional paddy areas, as the north-west of Italy, it could be a potential threat for groundwater dynamics, due to the dramatic decrease of groundwater recharge, and in general for traditional landscape conservation and nature protection.

The cracking tendency of large-scale high-chromium cast iron impeller was large, and its casting production was a problem in slurry pump industry. The casting process of the largest high-Chromium cast iron impeller in China was presented in this paper. Through casting process design and alloy composition design, the produced impellers met the quality demands, such as no crack, surface smoothness and high hardness. Huazhu CAE was used to simulate the casting process and the parameters used in the simulation were introduced. The STL document used in Huazhu CAE was converted from the 3D molding of the casting process using the Solidwork software. The simulation result showed that the casting process was feasible. They have been successfully used in the dredge, New Sea lion.
