Buildings contribute more than 40% of world energy consumption, so it is feared that it will cause energy problems in thefuture, especially in the construction sector. One solution to reducing this problem is by analyzing energy use at the initialdesign stage and utilizing solar energy as one of the solar power plants (PLTS) in office buildings. To analyze the use ofenergy in buildings, Building Information Modeling (BIM) was used. The purpose of this research is to analyze the annualenergy level of office buildings in Palembang using BIM software, namely Autodesk Revit. The number of solar panels aswell as the amount of energy were also identified using web-based software (HelioScope) resulting the economic feasibilityas indicated by the installation of solar panels as a component of PV mini-grid. The results showed that the use of BIMtechnology in analyzing building energy can provide a detailed description of the building model at the design stage. Revitanalysis indicates that the building consumed electrical energy per year for about 3,647,713 kWh with a roof area of 1,657m2. In addition, based on the HelioScope analysis, the use of renewable energy from the installation of PLTS was 152,900kWh/year. Meanwhile, for economic feasibility analysis, the installation of PLTS in office buildings can provide a positive NetPresent Value (NPV), indicating a feasible project.

What do such exclusions mean for e-vehicles, smartphones and solar panels? How can we encourage learning about and reducing electronics' true costs? Katie Singer will describe the process involved in manufacturing electronic-grade silicon (similar to solar-grade silicon), and propose that every Internet user learn the international supply chain of one substance (of 1000+) in their device. She will also propose ways to counterbalance a digital footprint. </div>

At the University of Szeged, as the greenest University of Hungary, the sustainability project is built on two pillars. One of them is based on events and communication campaigns held regularly for the University citizens to prompt environmental-conscious behaviour, whereas the other is built on technological developments and on the extensive use of renewable energy resources. Thus the development of built environment and social responsibility both support the adequacy to sustainability requirements. The spreading of the effective solutions to making more and more buildings of the University energy efficient, numerous investments using renewable energy are also responsible for the decrease of the natural energy use of the institution contrary to the fact that the number of the buildings of the University of Szeged is continually increasing. It can be stated that the University of Szeged is committed to using renewable energy which is taken into consideration of each investment planning. The following examples confirm it: using geothermal cascade system for heating and cooling of five university bulidings, solar panels on 24 builidings and a unique technology of using the heat of wastewater to cool and heat one of the main bulidings of the university, namely the Study and Information Centre.

The need for electrical energy continues to increase every time. Concerns about the depletion of fossil energy reserves encourage the acceleration of the development of renewable energy use. One of renewable energy is the solar energy. Due to the irreversible irradiation conditions, it takes controls to keep the solar panel's maximum power. The most widely in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MMPT) is Perturb Algorithm and Observe (P&O) but P&O Algorithm has deficiency of oscillations when steady state and MPP trace errors when irradiation changes rapidly. In this paper proposed P & O-Fuzzy algorithm is a modification of conventional P & O to improve the efficiency of solar panels. This research uses Matlab for simulation and hardware implementation using microcontroller Arduino Uno and buck converter topology. The result of simulation and hardware implementation, conventional P & O has an average efficiency of 85.03% while MPPT modification with P & O-Fuzzy algorithm can improve MPP tracking efficiency with 89.67%.

The Queen’s Residence Energy Challenge (QREC) is an energy conservation initiative taking place in the residence halls at Queen’s University coordinated by the AMS Sustainability Office and the Sustainability Coordinator for Student Affairs . It is a two-part competition. Part one of the competition is an interresidence competition in which each residence hall will be competing to reduce their energy expenditures. Energy use will be compared to the corresponding time in the previous year, and the residence that reduces their energy use by the highest percentage will win the competition. This part of the project is being organized by members of the AMS Sustainability Office and the Sustainability Coordinator (Office of Student Affairs), and Residence Life staff and floor dons are helping execute it. The second part of the competition is an inter-university pledge drive, in which residents will be encouraged to sign a pledge stating that they will be participating in the QREC. Queen’s will be competing against the Universities of Waterloo and Guelph, and the school that has the highest percentage of residents participating will win a set of solar panels as a symbol of energy conservation and renewable energy. This part of the project is being coordinated by the Sierra Youth Coalition who has obtained funding from the Ontario Power Authority. The goals of the QREC are to reduce overall energy use in the residences, help students living in residence learn about their own energy consumption and ways to reduce it, and create a culture of sustainability at Queen’s. In this presentation I will go through the overall timeline of executing and planning the project, provide examples of ways to reduce energy consumption in residence, and provide results of both parts of the competition.

This article presents a learning experience focused on the student, developed through project-based learning and collaborative learning. The primary objective is oriented to the acquisition of cognitive and pragmatic skills in one of the most common aspects of solar energy use, to say, the photovoltaic installations. Therefore, the learning experience is described in the process of installing 194 solar panels with the project Photovoltaic installation in a poultry farm in the community of Tapias Viejas in Aguascalientes. The observation technique is used in the behaviors of the students, as well as the request for a written report as a product of the project; in this, the students express their opinion and learnings, which have been included literally in the Results section. It is worth mentioning the motivation and pro activity that the students manifested during the development of the project; of their opinions, emphasizes the importance of situated learning methodologies, which promote in the student the opportunity to apply knowledge, develop skills and strengthen attitudes, necessary for their professional training
