Schools allow to develop and extend the approaches and attitudes in the social, moral, ideological, and religious spheres. The realization of these matters is possible due to the fulfillment of three basic school functions, i.e. didactic, educational, and protective. No one should forget that human education starts already in the period of childhood. Initially, parents introduce the children to the indispensable problems and matters in their future lives. It takes place in the form of games. They satisfy their growing need of gaining the knowledge, by answering numerous questions. They develop the knowledge through practical activities to let them gain experience, that is, organize walks, educational games, and so forth. Then young people begin school education, which influences, to a large degree, their lives. Then, in the educational process, the subject of Biology appears, almost certainly already known thanks to the parents’ education. The scientific discipline called Biology is a very important element in the education of people, which is helpful in understanding their own personalities and the surrounding reality. The wide range of biological contents as well as the short reflection on the subject of gaining the knowledge in the range of Biology allows us to notice, that this discipline, similarly to other disciplines shapes the personality of young, growing up people. All things considered, however, it differs from disciplines such as history, or mathematics, because it is closely and directly related to the human being and functioning, as the basis of human life. Biology, more considerably and effectively, than different disciplines, makes the students sensible towards human needs as well as the needs of nature and its protection.

This chapter states the case for a social harm perspective. Initially, the chapter outlines the emergence of social harm as an extension of criminological investigation through the suggestion that entirely legal processes and actions can engender harmful consequences. The strengths and limitations of harm perspectives are outlined before contemplating the question harm from what? This evidences Pemberton’s ‘human needs’, Yar’s ‘search for recognition’, and deviant leisure’s ‘ethical responsibility for the other’. Following this, an ultra-realist interpretation of society is proffered. Synthesising ultra-realism with social harm perspectives extends the social harm perspective by recognising the systemic violence of capitalism and neoliberalism, the negative motivation to harm, is complemented by the positive motivation to harm and the transcendental materialist subject. This emphasis on motivation delineates intentional and unintentional action and links the subject (micro) with organisational culture (meso) and political-economic ideology (macro). Finally, the crucial role of causative absence is outlined; negativity or absence has as much causal power as a positive or presence; both intentional and unintentional harms stem from problematic absences at a structural, cultural and interpersonal level.

Results: The study involved four fathers that each are raising a child with a diagnosis of autism.Comparing the narratives of the participants in the study, the interrelated components emerged, which constitute a narrative of the parental attitude towards the child’s future. Conclusions: The spreading of autism on a global scale, affecting more and more people without any restrictions on gender, race, social layer or other human identifications, creates new theories and promotes the scientific research of the spreading of autism. Autism is an interdisciplinary challenge that requires a wide range of research.Reconstructing the narrative of parents who raise children with autism does not contradict the factors found in scientific literature, they are expanded by individual experiences. Parents’ stories revealed the interrelated components that make up the narrative of the parental attitudes towards the child’s future: near future, additional education, education, and the farther future. The narrative of the near future revealed that parental narratives are dominated by the three components of the narrative: the child’s social relationships (parents’ expectations focus on the desire for the child to interact with peers and acquire social skills), the acquisition of minimal academic knowledge (parents are deeply experiencing their child’s failures in elementary reading, writing skills, calculation skills), childhood diagnosis (most feared complications, diagnosis of weight loss). The narrative of supplementary education highlighted the limitations of access to non-formal education for children with autism. Parental stories reveal that for a child with autism disorder, the involvement of parents in the educational process and the opportunity to develop not only in school, but also in non-formal education institutions is important. The lack of specific education curricula for the development of children with autism is also highlighted in the reality of education, and professionals working in the form of non-formal, alternative education programs that are paid have a significant impact on family budgets. The narrative of education revealed that parents understand the meaning of education and want children to pursue a vocational education. The current situation is not satisfactory for parents, they expect inclination for the society to change.Further narrative of the future reflects the parents’ expectations regarding the independent lives of children, their ability to care for themselves and the ability to create their own families. It turned out that parents’ narratives about each component are accompanied by anxiety and feelings of fear, but in all stories there is also an aspect of hope. With paramount expectations parents are striving for recognition in society, the development of the educational system, the progress of medicine and diagnostics. The research revealed the social and emotional significance of the family, while actualizing the fact that the child’s disability affects the social participation of the whole family and determines the importance of complex care for the whole family.

In this article we attempt to specify the object and contents of the Theory of Education interpreted as a scientific discipline. We defend its character of theory for practice which must integrate the contemplative dimension, «theoretical», the scientific knowledge, and the practical dimension, so that that knowledge serves as a base for establishing norms for practice. We interpret the Theory of Education as a substantive theory of the general educational process that also must study other problems: conceptual, epistemological, methodological, and so on. We contrast our vision with respect to the object of study with various sources: previous investigation works, seminars and congresses, Spanish reviews of Theoiy of Education, textbooks of Theory of Education and curricular programmes of the subject. The article concludes with a proposal of fundamental themes that are postulated as the object of reflection and of scientific investigation for the theoreticians of the education.SOMMAIRE: Dans cet article nous essayons de spécifier l'objet et les contenus de la Théorie de l'Éducation interprétée comme une discipline scientifique. Emotional processes are the most important class of mental manifestations in human life, the state of which largely determines physical and social well-being, mental and somatic health, as well as the success of the subject in all types of his life. The accumulation and expansion of emotional experience, its development, consolidation and modification under the influence of purposefully organized education and upbringing, as well as the impact of cultural and conventional norms adopted in a particular society, consistently lead to the formation of a significant group of abilities, knowledge and skills that reveal the emotional literacy of an individual in management of emotional response and characterizing the behavior of the subject from the point of view of his rationality, consciousness, criticality, regulation, self-control and self-management. The presence of emotional literacy determines the social maturity of a person, which is revealed in his emotional competence when interacting with the social environment.

The article notes that the problem of activity is one of the key problems of human knowledge, attention is paid to the theoretical aspects of the study of activity in domestic psychological science, approaches to the activity of a subject of vital activity are outlined. The contribution of psychologists of the Perm psychological school to the development of ideas about activity is analyzed. The study of activity is carried out in conjunction with the problems of integral individuality and individual style. Representatives of the Perm psychological school carried out theoretical and empirical studies of various types and styles of human activity in the conditions of daily activity and in extreme conditions of life: educational, volitional, communicative, religious, information-manipulative, meaningforming, professional. The scientific product of the current direction of research in the psychology of activity B. A. Vyatkin calls the idea of the existence in the social world of Homo activus – an active person. The article outlines the relevance of studying the activity of the subject of vital activity in the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), i.e., a situation accompanied by a vital threat, is indicated. This civilizational phenomenon and the resulting epidemiological situation have made global adjustments to all spheres of human life, which necessitated adaptation to the transforming environmental conditions and prolonged situation of uncertainty. Psychologists note not only negative aspects in the current situation, but also positive ones, which are associated with the need to activate all mental life to overcome the pandemocrisis. In the Perm psychological school for the study of the activity of the subject of vital activity in conditions of a vital threat, theoretical prerequisites have been created in the form of the concept of integral individuality (V.S. Merlin), the theory of the meta-individual world (L. Ya. Dorfman), a conceptual dynamic model of the activity of the subject of vital activity (A. A. Volochkov), an integrative approach to the study of communicative activity (S. A. Vasyura), a corresponding diagnostic toolkit has been developed.

The study shows some preferences in the choice of training and learning strategies in university educational process aimed at forming future IT-specialists’ digital competence as the main indicator of their professionalism in IT-sphere considering information technologies as being the subject and the means of instruction. The use of information technologies results in rethinking of existing approaches to organizing the educational process of higher school especially when it comes to training future IT-specialists. Information technologies integrated into all spheres of human activities and widely applied to support different industries in commercial, private and public sectors cause ever-growing demand for highly-qualified IT-specialists. In the study the authors consider the range of learning strategies used in the educational process for boosting effectiveness of IT-specialists’ digital competence formation as the main indicator of their professionalism in IT-sphere. The study was carried out among 164 future IT-specialists at three higher education institutions in Ukraine from February to May 2019. The researchers found out that all the respondents used contemporary information technologies for learning IT-disciplines, namely, all the students (100.00%) use contemporary information technologies in their formal learning, 68.80% − in their non-formal learning, 18.30% − in a wide range of educational activities that could be regarded as informal learning and only 13.20% − combining informal and non-formal learning. The obtained data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. As the core result of conducted research the component matrix of learning strategies was developed showing their hierarchy depending on three factors chosen i.e. traditional, self-directed and collaborative learning.

The article presents the essence and ways of the gender aspect of social development of future specialists in the socionomic sphere. Several legislative documents on the establishment of gender equality adopted at the state level in Ukraine are analyzed. The necessity of developing the gender aspect of specialists in the socionomic sphere is substantiated. Analyzed components: «gender» (one of the basic components of the social structure of society), «sociality» (acquired in the course of human life in society supra-individual structure of his personality), «hidden curriculum» (what is latently broadcast to students in parallel with the official curriculum). The components of the development of the gender component of human sociality (cognitive, value, emotional-personal activity-behavioural), which are formed based on the social experience of the individual, values of gender equality, subjectivity in gender construction, gender sensitivity, gender tolerance, empathy behavioural strategies. Theoretical provisions for the development of a safe and healthy educational environment are outlined. It is established that in practice the development of the gender component of the sociality of students of socionic specialities in the conditions of pedagogical higher education establishment becomes possible through the implementation of the following areas of work: organization of meetings with representatives of units concerned with prevention and prevention of discrimination; updating of programs and material of initial disciplines taking into account the leading principles of gender-sensitive approach; introduction of certain topics on gender issues into the educational process; promoting the self-education of student youth on the implementation of gender policy; creation of gender promotion centres in higher education institutions.

The concept of the virtual university is relatively new and it is necessary to distinguish a number of contradictory points in its verification. Firstly, it is the quality of the education received. The problem of educational process content at the virtual university, organization of control and level of accomplished tasks, issues of intellectual abilities and critical thinking development, reflexivity of consciousness are the subject of heated discussions of both the supporters and opponents of the virtual university idea. Secondly, there is the question of the way of thinking. The virtual space involves a network mode of organization characterized by openness of the structure, poly variability of determination and expediency of modal logic. The phenomenon of virtual university is the result of responding to the needs of social transformation. In such model, the content of the social roles of the teacher and the student changes significantly. The competence of the modern teacher is not limited to knowledge. After all, the most experienced academician is not able to absorb all the information in a certain science, and obviously loses in the volume of assimilated information to any search engine.

The purpose of the study was to examine the impacts of COVID-19 and its implications for teaching Social Studies as integrated curriculum. This was done through review of a number of articles relating to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as Social Studies as integrated discipline. Historical background and the effects of the pandemic specifically in Ghana have been outlined in the paper. Being integrated curriculum, the author argues that the pandemic offers unique opportunity for Social Studies educators and teachers of the subject to demonstrate their understanding of the concept of integration with respect to the impacts of the pandemic. There is no denying the fact that the pandemic had tremendous impacts on all facets of human life including economic, social, psychological, political, religious, and health. Based on the literature review, it is recommended that educators and teachers in the field of Social Studies should draw connection between the COVID-19 and the Social Science subjects. In so doing, it would promote wholistic understanding of the COVID-19 pandemic.
