This paper discusses linguistic and psychological aspects of the problem of automatic modusdictum analysis of texts published in social networks and other electronic media. Thereupon, theoretical questions are raised anew on the linguistic nature of modus, on the means to express “ego-meanings” in speech, on the differentiation of proper modus (autoreferential signs) and modal-evaluating predicates in dictum position, on the implicit methods of communicating modus information, and the resources to read this information based on discursive speech practices (conventional meanings). The applied goal of the paper is to provide “humanitarian” (psychological and linguistic) support for development of machine “mining” programs, i. e. automatic monitoring of network content and text identification with a certain subjective modality. To achieve this goal, we describe, in particular, such lexical-grammatical features of the texts that can be significant for determining psychological state of an individual or a professional group to identify certain public opinions. Conceptually, this research is connected with the idea of speech system which is manifested both at the level of styles and genres and within independent communicative units, as well as with one of the most important trends in the field of artificial intelligence — the method of relational-situational analysis of texts in natural language. Thematic groups of words (TGW) were compiled including “evaluation collocations” typical of those texts. The templates created on the basis of psychological and linguistic description model suggested in this paper can be used hereafter to develop algorithms for automatic monitoring of the network texts of a given theme (professional stability or mobility, professional crisis, etc.) and evaluation.

Background. Being diagnosed with cancer is a dramatically stressful condition for a human. Radiation therapy (RT), which is an essential of combination antineoplastic treatment, can cause physical and emotional state changes. Realizing these changes is an additional stress factor that results in impaired life quality of a cancer patient as well refusal to undergo further treatment. At present, there is no distinct system of providing psychological aid for cancer patients in Ukraine. Purpose. To carry out analysis and generalization of research literature data in terms of providing psychological aid for cancer patients at RT stage and to present own findings of psychological study enrolling 55 female patients diagnosed with endometrial cancer at RT stage at SO «Grigoriev Institute for Medical Radiology and Oncology» within the period from 2015 to 2018. Materials and methods. The literature review involved available contributions obtained via literature search in domestic (Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine) and foreign databases (Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection, PubMed, BMC, ScienceDirect, Wiley Online Library, RNB). Fifty-five patients with endometrial cancer of stage I–II (T1b-c N0 M0 – T2a -b N0 M0) underwent clinical and laboratory examination. The diagnosis of adenocarcinoma was confirmed by means of a histologic study. All patients underwent panhysterectomy and postsurgery course of distant gamma-therapy on “РОКУС-АМ” device by split fractionation. Fifteen patients were provided with psychological correction at RT stage. In order to assess life quality, SF-36 (Health Status Survey) was used. An assessment of the severity of psychosomatic disorders in patients with endometrial cancer was made by means of EORTC QLQ-C30 survey. Results. The paper analyzes psychological aid provided to oncology patients at radiation therapy stage in Ukraine and overseas. It presents the peculiarities of patients’ psychological responses during irradiation and possible consequences of higher mental function impairment. The targets of psychological correction and factors influencing life quality of a patient have been considered as well as the effectiveness of psychotherapeutic interventions outcomes of different approaches has been provided. The study states that, currently, medical and psychological follow-up of cancer patients does not consist only in reassuring talk and drug correcting of their psychological state aimed to reduce distress, anxiety and depression level, but also in psychocorrection, psychoeducation, the access to psychotherapeutic groups, individual psychotherapy. The efficiency of applying own developed schemes of medical and psychological correction of emotional state of women with EC is presented, the use of which has made it possible to reduce the manifestations of sleep disorders, cognitive function and fatigue. Conclusions. Following a differentiated strategy when choosing methods of psychological aid for oncology patients and their families at radiation therapy stage via psychocorrection of emotional, cognitive and behavioral spheres, psychoeducation or psychotherapeutic interventions will make it possible to significantly improve their psychological status and quality of life.

Interacting with intelligence in an ever-changing environment calls for exceptional performances from artificial beings. One mechanism explored to produce intuitive-like behavior in artificial intelligence applications is emotion. This chapter examines the engineering of a mechanism that synthesizes and processes an artificial agent’s internal emotional states: the Affective Space. Through use of the affective space, an agent can predict the effect certain behaviors will have on its emotional state and, in turn, decide how to behave. Furthermore, an agent can use the emotions produced from its behavior to update its beliefs about particular entities and events. This chapter explores the psychological theory used to structure the affective space, the way in which the strength of emotional states can be diminished over time, how emotions influence an agent’s perception, and the way in which an agent can migrate from one emotional state to another.

In recent years there has been a growth of psychological chatbots performing important functions from checking symptoms to providing psychoeducation and guiding self-help exercises. Technologically these chatbots are based on traditional decision-tree algorithms with limited keyword recognition. A key challenge to the development of conversational artificial intelligence is intent recognition or understanding the goal that the user wants to accomplish. The user query on psychological topic is often emotional, highly contextual and non goal-oriented, and therefore may contain vague, mixed or multiple intents. In this study we made an attempt to identify and categorize user intents with relation to psychological topics using the database of 43 000 messages from iCognito Anti-depression chatbot. We have identified 24 classes of user intents that can be grouped into larger categories, such as: a) intents to improve emotional state; b) intents to improve interpersonal relations; c) intents to improve physical condition; d) intents to solve practical problems; e) intents to make a decision; f) intents to harm oneself or commit suicide; g) intent to blame or criticize oneself. This classification may be used for the development of conversational artificial intelligence in the field of psychotherapy.

Emotionally-aware Man-Machine Interaction (MMI) systems are presently at the forefront of interest of the computer vision and artificial intelligence communities, since they give the opportunity to less technology-aware people to use computers more efficiently, overcoming fears and preconceptions. Most emotion-related facial and body gestures are considered to be universal, in the sense that they are recognized along different cultures; therefore, the introduction of an “emotional dictionary” that includes descriptions and perceived meanings of facial expressions and body gestures, so as to help infer the likely emotional state of a specific user, can enhance the affective nature of MMI applications (Picard, 2000).

An analysis of the problem of split personality in combination with a source of inspiration for artists in the film industry, literature and fine arts, as well as clarified this feature, the regularity of which is that most works of art are based on real biographical stories. The study shows the chronological sequence of development of the theme of dualistic personality in art. The article establishes the connection between literary creativity and the art of cinematography in the context of depicting characters with the problem of the bifurcated spectrum. Also, a comparison of films and literary works with the idea of a dualistic personality. For a better understanding of the material, conclusions were drawn about the peculiarities of the image of the phenomenon of bifurcation of personality in different fields of art. This topic is insufficiently studied today, as the phenomenon of variable, bifurcated personality is rarely used in various arts, and also raises many controversial issues related to determining the cause of bifurcation itself. However, the image of this phenomenon is gaining popularity in many arts, which is why this article was devoted to the study of the interpretation of the phenomenon of bifurcation of personality in the film industry, literature and fine arts.

Advancements in artificial intelligence and Big Data allow for a range of goods and services to determine and respond to a consumer’s emotional state of mind. Considerable potential surrounds the technological ability to detect and respond to an individual’s emotions, yet such technology is also controversial and raises questions surrounding the legal protection of emotions. Despite their highly sensitive and private nature, this article highlights the inadequate protection of emotions in aspects of data protection and consumer protection law, arguing that the contribution by recent proposal for an Artificial Intelligence Act is not only unsuitable to overcome such deficits but does little to support the assertion that emotions are highly sensitive.
