Nowadays, cell phones or mobile phones have become a multipurpose tool. The developers of mobile phone/smartphone have added an assortment of features and applications that are very useful for the users. Nokia provides the opportunity for application developers by providing developers such as Qt SDK. Application developers can use Qt SDK to design and create applications that can run on mobile phones based on Symbian. In this research Qt SDK was used to create applications for monitoring a room using a camera and display it on a Symbian-based smartphone. Research also used webcam7 software to monitor the camera and display it on PC screen. The Symbian used was Nokia E71. The camera used webcam M-Tech camera connected to the PC via USB cable, and internal webcam. Virtual routers were used to make the laptop into an access point. Virtual routers created using the netsh command was typed at the command prompt laptop. Symbian smartphone was connected to the wifi on the laptop. By accessing the IP of the laptop, display on a webcam has successfully been seen through a symbian smartphone monitoring application created using Qt SDK.

In this paper, we present a way to bring information to students by leveraging the availability of phones (with SMS capability), especially cell phones. We review the use of mobile phones for delivering examination results via Short Messaging Service (SMS) in a university, where student who have written examinations and anxious to see their results need to get their grades in a convenient and accessible way, whether in the comfort of their homes, on the road or while at work. Mobile phone seems to be an asset most individuals’ posses, and take almost everywhere with them, it is therefore a highly effective means of bringing information to them faster, easily and on the move. An SMS result checking system not only enables students to request for their grades, the system can also deliver the grades to their phones as soon as the grades become available. This means that they can access their grades even in the remotest locations where internet facility might be unavailable, preventing them from accessing the school’s website. This study shows the implementation of such system and considers the security issues associated. The system enforces security with the use of secret information (password), and also provides access to new and old grades.

Cell phones have gradually become an integral part of one's life. It is no astonish, which a comprehensive, research just released acknowledges mobile technology has coherently changed the style in which we truly love, live and work. Cell phones are now like mini computers and with gam consoles, high resolution still and video cameras, mailing systems, text messengers, carriers of fun and business information, helping within one's commercial and business transactions. The cell phone has made international long distance contacts easy, with ceaseless advance in technology, advanced and elaborated features added to the cell phones. In the past decade, mobile technology has altered the way youth communicate and interact with their peers. The development and modernization of this technology has made lives of youth easier and has brought about some problems and threats stemming from irresponsible use of mobile phones among teens and young adults. The whole youth population or student community is passing through chaos, disturbance and mental incapacitation. This study focuses on exploring the pattern of mobile phone usage among young adults in the State of Andhra Pradesh. It also attempts to examine the extent of sexual messaging and addictive sexual behavior through use of mobile phones. A face to face survey method was used to elicit the responses through a questionnaire. The survey was administered among 1200 students between the age group of 18-25 years. The data were analyzed with the help of statistical tools and techniques to draw meaningful inferences and conclusions.

Enny, in this paper explain that many mobile phone users around the us, but only a portion of the concerned about the dangers of cell phones. This paper was compiled to determine the impact and solutions of cell phone radiation. Mobile phones emit electromagnetic waves which will affect the surrounding environment. Based on existing information, cell phone radiation is thought to cause cancer. Waves emitted from mobile phones over the air is causing electromagnetic radiation. Potential disrubtion of health consequences of radiation electromagnetic field has become an issue which examined till now, so found a variety of health disorders as a result of mobile phone users that includes the impact of mild and severe impact. Experts have discovered some efforts to minimize the effects of cell phone radiation on health of mobile phone users. Every user should know the dangers of mobile phone users. Radiation caused cell phone not only arise when used, but when putting a cell phone in your Pocket can also be exposed to any radiation. Therefore, mobile users need to know how to use a cell phone. Users should pay attention to the level of radiation caused by cell phones, so that the influence of electromagnetic radiation on health can be scaled down for mobile users. Mobile phones for teenagers turn out to be used more than just a means of ordinary communication, cell phone use in teenagers' daily lives related to lifestyle. The purpose of this study is to find out cell phone use for teenagers. This method was chosen because the issue that was explored was a matter of meaning. Data collection techniques used included observation and interviews. Mobile phones are used as an image of the lifestyle of teenagers buying a mobile phone that is trending with the main reason to look slang, have confidence in front of their friends, and show who they are to others. Mobile phones are very important items in the lives of teenagers. Innovations that are presented in the features available on mobile phones make teenagers increasingly unable to escape from this one object. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that cell phone phones are important in teenager’s life; mobile phones are a side of modern life, cell phones as a lifestyle obtained in cell phones when used.

In the present study we link self-report-data on personality to behavior recorded on the mobile phone. This new approach from Psychoinformatics collects data from humans in everyday life. It demonstrates the fruitful collaboration between psychology and computer science, combining Big Data with psychological variables. Given the large number of variables, which can be tracked on a smartphone, the present study focuses on the traditional features of mobile phones – namely incoming and outgoing calls and SMS. We observed N = 49 participants with respect to the telephone/SMS usage via our custom developed mobile phone app for 5 weeks. Extraversion was positively associated with nearly all related telephone call variables. In particular, Extraverts directly reach out to their social network via voice calls.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of prestige sensitivity on mobile phone customer’s price acceptance in Vietnam and the mediating role of product knowledge and price mavenism on this relationship. We used the convenience sampling method for data collection via questionnaires with a sample of 605 consumers who purchased mobile phones. The collected data was analysed by applying a structural equation modelling method. The result indicates that prestige sensitivity has both direct and indirect effects on price acceptance via product knowledge and price mavenism. The findings suggest that prestige sensitivity can be used as a market segmentation criterion for mobile phones when making price decisions and providing customers with adequate information could improve price acceptance.

This chapter surveys and analyzes recent literature on mobile communication to examine its relationship to gender and development, more specifically how women in developing countries use and are impacted by mobile phones. Focusing on issues of power, agency, and social status, the chapter reviews how mobile telephony has been found to be implicated in patriarchal bargaining in different societies, how privacy and control are enabled through it, what benefits have been shown to accrue to women using mobile phones, and what barriers, limitations, and disadvantages of mobile use exist for women and why. The conclusion urges more gender-disaggregated analysis of mobile phone impact and use and offers policy and design recommendations based on the overview and discussion.

The worldwide use of cell phones has rapidly increased over the past decades. With the increasing use of mobile phones, concern has been raised about the possible carcinogenic effects as a result of exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields. The objective of this study was to explore the perceptions and opinions towards brain cancer related to cell phone use among university students in Malaysia. Abstract Background Nowadays, smartphone overuse affects massively teenagers and young adults. From 2014 to 2018 in Italy, for the 11-17 years age group, there has been an increase from 79.9% to 85.8% of daily mobile phone users. This project aims to investigate usage prevalence and misuse/addiction of mobile phones in a representative sample of first-grade secondary school students of the Province of Palermo, Italy, carrying out educational interventions to promote a proper and conscious use of smartphone. Materials and Methods An anonymous, standardized and previously validated pre-intervention questionnaire consisting of 39 items on general socio-demographic characteristics, attitudes and habits regarding smartphone usage, was administered online to 10-15 years old students of the Palermo's Province. Moreover, two additional sets of 11 and 15 items contributed to calculate a Misuse and an Addiction Score, respectively. After administration, educational interventions aimed at promoting the correct and conscious use of the smartphone, were carried out. Results A total of 1600 students belonging to 16 schools, responded to the questionnaire. 93% of the sample had a personal smartphone and 84% had a personal profile on at least one social network. About 15% of the sample experienced cyber bullying episodes and 30% accessed to adult content online (38% of parents didn't set parental control on the devices). Overall, 78.3% of the sample showed a moderate to severe misuse and 38.3% a moderate to severe addiction to mobile phones. Conclusions The uncontrolled and unconscious use of smartphones among adolescents exposes to different health risks including psycho-social and cognitive-relational problems. Results obtained demonstrate high levels of misuse and addiction to mobile devices in a representative sample of students in a developed Country, suggesting the need to implement educational interventions and the development of guidelines to encourage a responsible use of smartphones. Key messages The present study highlights an uncontrolled and unconscious use of mobile phones among 11-15 years old aged students in Southern Italy. The implementation of educational intervention at school and the development of guidelines regulating smartphone usage among adolescents, should represent a future global health priority.
