Various researchers, institutions and companies have been increasingly working on and using e-learning systems in the past. However, with the recent developments, the demand for learning systems that can adapt to learners’ need and development level has risen considerably. A lot of learning from a distance requires new approaches in teaching, It is more important than ever for teachers to be able to accurately test students’ knowledge, determine the appropriate level of difficulty and adjust content accordingly. This paper describes the design, development and use of a web-based application used to prepare tests for students and determine their level as a module of an integrated personalized learning system. Results from a practical implementation of the system are also discussed.

Aspects of usability or usability in the user's point of view when using and utilizing a product. The use of an inappropriate method in developing the design will increase the number of requests to improve the product after it is finished. Inappropriate method of selecting methods for design development Usually occurs in applications based on Graphical User Interface (GUI), e-commerce websites, cellular services, and also technology in the field of education called e-learning. E-learning is one technology that develops a distance learning system that provides a variety of solutions where the Internet is the medium. Supported by the development of technology supported by smartphones can also be used for the learning process. With the existence of smartphones, students will more easily access learning materials, and teachers will also be easier to share the material to be received. To support the effort to obtain the level of user satisfaction without leaving the specific purpose of making the application itself a user centered design (UCD) method can be applied. UCD is a method that helps users. With the application of this method users will be satisfied and comfortable when using with the system. Based on the concepts of the UCD method and the problems that occur in e-learning especially the University of Jember E-Learning application, it can be seen that the UCD method is suitable to be applied in the development of mobile-based Universitas Jember e-learning applications with the aim of making it easier students and lecturers in the learning process at the University of Jember. This research was conducted in 3 stages, namely data collection, analysis, and system development. The data collection phase consists of literature studies, and questionnaires. The analysis phase is done by processing the data from the questionnaire and conducting usability testing. The development phase is done by building a mobile-based e-learning application. The results of this study are the University of Jember M-Learning application.

Along with the development of internet technology, e-learning began to be developed. Thus encouraging the authors to maintain the quality of education by applying e-learning at Pratiwi Prabumulih Vocational High School. E-learning is one of the tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of performance in the teaching and learning process. E-learning is a web-based system developed using the PHP programming language, HTML document types and MySQL to manage databases. The research method used is the system development method, namely the waterfall method. The system design method with a functional approach is described using UML (Unified Modeling Language). With the web-based e-learning system, the teaching and learning process can be accessed in all places anytime and anywhere without time restrictions. E-learning supports functions/features (upload and download) of data in the form of document content. E-learning is also able to display online questions or exams and score results so that it helps in the learning process

The asynchronous learning system is one of the great tools that have broken through the limits of time and space to make learning available to all people in the future. In order to provide adaptive learning material and environment, it is important for an asynchronous learning system to take the degree of difficulty in the teaching materials and learner's characteristics into account. Thus, this article will investigate the related characteristics of asynchronous material and propose a material characteristics model. This model investigates the relationship among the difficulty degree of material, students' interests, and their abilities. Furthermore, we will investigate the material information to comprehend thoroughly the suitability of the teaching materials to the learner. The material information is based on promoting learning ability. From the above results, an asynchronous learning system could provide adaptive material that is suitable for students with different learning abilities. Students could be counseled on reaching the anticipated learning goal using our model. The ability after learning could be calculated from the model to help the testing system to choose test items quickly and adaptively and make the asynchronous learning system more effective and complete.

Competency-based Learning Theory (CBLT) emphasizes that learners are protagonists in the entire learning process. In order to achieve the predictive learning targets of learners, CBLT make much of the individual differences between learners, and use the personal adaptive learning route in the CBLT procedure with evaluation, feedback, and modification. This paper used CBLT to be a foundation of system design, and to apply the CBLT procedure to guide learners to study adaptively. Our system implemented from CBLT can provide a personal adaptive learning route to learners, and has the adaptively-guiding assistant learning ability to help learners to learn independently and adaptively. The results of the experiment indicate that the learners could learn in the system independently and adaptively without teacher involvement while the learning courses had standard range and could be classified to several categories according the content characters. The results of the experiment proved this Adaptively-guiding Web-based E-learning (AGWBE) System based on CBLT was an effective computer-assisted instruction system that could guide learners to study independently and adaptively, then to share the teacher’s teaching workload efficiently.

The development of a modern e-learning system promotes the active introduction of distance education. The organization of a mixed form of education at the department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy involves an education during the session and using the distance contact between faculty and students during the intersessional period. The information technology system of distance learning is provided by personal computers, video and audio equipment. The web-site of the department presents a set of teaching materials, including curriculas, work programs, lecture notes, test assignments, situational tasks, control and individual course work. Distance learning is supplemented with new teaching materials: web lectures, e-learning textbooks and manuals. Lectures are delivered by faculty members in the form of video conferences or webinars. Consultations are conducted in the on-line mode each week at a certain time by the teachers of the department according to the schedule. The website of the department presents methods for implementing practical skills, video stories of individual urgent states on the pathology of internal organs, demonstrates sets of medicines for seven types of first aid kits to improve the students' knowledge and skills, and to successfully pass the practical part of the state certification of graduates from the discipline "Clinical pharmacy".

Since the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the world of education has been affected by the application of a learning system that is carried out in a blended learning manner. Therefore, this study aims to develop teaching materials in the form of a STEM-based web module using scaffolding to assist the learning process during the covid 19 pandemic. The development of a STEM-based web module using scaffolding is carried out using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data were obtained through interviews with physics teachers. Based on the results of interviews with teachers at one of the senior high schools in Batanghari district, it is known that in offline learning, printed books from the school library are still used. Therefore, we need an electronic module that can be accessed anytime and anywhere to facilitate the learning process. So that researchers will develop a STEM-based web module using scaffolding on straight motion physics material for class X high school. The product produced is in the form of a web containing material for straight motion physics class X SMA/MA based on STEM using scaffolding

Existing virtual learning environments (VLEs) in educational institutions are not designed with the expectation that students with disabilities will use them. Consequently, retrieving relevant information by some students with disabilities is a challenging task. The focus of this study was to propose the design of VLEs to incorporate ontologies that facilitate information retrieval by students with disabilities in their learning, thus serving as a semantic web-based assistive technology in education. An Ontology-Driven Disability-Aware Personalised E-Learning System (ONTODAPS) was designed and then used to recommend specific learning materials to learners based on their learning goal and disability type. Preliminary results of the evaluation of ONTODAPS, by 30 students with disabilities, indicate that 70% of the participants found ONTODAPS to offer a better personalisation, better access to learning materials (68%) and is easier to use (63%) in retrieving learning materials than Sakai. Thus ONTODAPS serves as an assistive tool in their education through retrieval of relevant learning materials in a suitable format which is compatible with their disability.
