Situating High-Speed Railway Stations within Local Urban Contexts: Passenger Satisfaction with Intermodal Integration at the Hong Kong HSR Station

With more high-speed railway (HSR) being built worldwide, its be er integration into the 'urban fabric' is imperative. Focusing on the travel experience, this paper presents an analysis of the intermodal integration of HSR with the local public transport system at the newly opened HSR station in Hong Kong. A participatory survey was conducted with arrival passengers making intermodal transfers to local destinations using the metro, bus, and taxis. Participants were asked to recall and rate their travel experience from the exit of HSR station to the public transport stops. This is the first study that integrates both objective and subjective measurements of regional–local intermodal integration holistically from a passenger perspective. In the survey, respondents generally reported a positive experience. However, there were signi ficant diff erences for diff erent interchange modes. At a more theoretical level, ten service a ributes including both instrumental and aff ective dimensions were found to have signi ficant in fluence on the intermodal interchange experience. Furthermore, the importance-satisfaction analysis suggests that three instrumental factors (ticket purchase, time coordination, interchange signage) are in most urgent need of improvement, while good service quality of four aff ective factors (walking environment, cleanliness, congestion-free waiting area, and luggage delivery) should be maintained and strengthened.

Reduction of high speed railway speed has an influence on not only high speed railway passenger flow but also passenger flow of the public transport system within the scope of relevant transportation corridor. Calculate method of percentage of passenger transport with a variety of public transport mode using Logit model is presented. And analysis of Wuhan Guangzhou high speed railway passenger flow changes before and after reducing speed is introduced. Modify Logit model making it can be applied to the passenger flow partaking rates to meet the changing trend of passenger flow. Bring in new ideas of using Logit to calculate the distribution rate of passenger flow and provide reliable and effective solutions. To provide reference for a more scientific way of express passenger flow partaking rates for development of passenger flow law and analyzing of China's current influence factors.

The indoor environment of high-speed railway stations is more complex than in traditional railway stations. This could lead to complex indoor environment problems. In this study, indoor environmental measurements and passenger satisfaction surveys were conducted in two high-speed railway stations in summer and winter, considering the indoor thermal, natural light, acoustic and air environment. The results indicate that the air temperatures in winter were far below comfort standards. The mean illuminance met the standard requirements in both stations. However, the illuminance uniformity was very low in the summer. The acoustic and air environments were satisfactory and have positive impacts on the overall environmental comfort of passengers. The evaluated acoustic environment indicated this has a worst effect on passengers’ comfort. The depth of the waiting halls affected the air environment. The subjective survey revealed the following: Females were more sensitive to the indoor environment than males in winter. Northerners were more satisfied with the environment than Southerners. Older passengers were slightly more tolerant to the environment. Passengers with a longer waiting time would have higher demands for a better indoor environment. Also, passengers were more tolerant in summer than in winter.

The paper describes selection and justification of metrobus route in Kyiv. Object of the study - Kyiv transport system. Purpose of the study - selection and justification of metrobus route in Kyiv. Method of the study - statistical analysis, synthesis, formalization and generalization. Metrobus is a promising public transport system in cities, because it has low cost and high speed of construction of line compared to rail transport, high speed of movement in dedicated lanes, ability to flexibly change the passenger flow due to changes in bus traffic, ability to partially use metrobus lane for other special vehicles, low-cost travel due to high passenger capacity and efficient payment systems, reduction of air pollution, and its absence when using electric buses. Analyzed the current state of public transport in Kyiv. It was found that the most acute problem with transport is in the residential area Vyhurivshchyna-Troieshchyna. Driving time in rush hours from Pochayna metro station in the direction of Vygurovshchina-Troeshchina is increases by 10-27 min. compared to nighttime hours, when traffic is low, and the accidents or road works can further increase it. Metrobus route Miloslavska St. - Pochayna metro station was proposed. The route has a total length of 11.1 km and has 13 stops. Average distance between stops is 854 m and fits into the generally accepted norms used in construction of metrobus lines (800-1200 m). This will solve transport problem on this route and reduce average driving time to 18.5 minutes only using dedicated lanes. The results of the article can be used to design metrobus line and to determine of vehicles performance properties that will be used on them. The research of high-speed railway running economic benefit is important to timely know well the train operation state for the railway administration. A prediction model of high-speed railway running economic benefit is proposed in this article based on Gray model. The Gray model is a good example to make accurate prediction of the development of matters. According to the data analysis of Beijing and Shanghai railway stations, we can know that the result of prediction model is accurate, so the prediction based on Gray model is scientific and reasonable in the practical application.

As a convenient and efficient public transport system, high speed railway (HSR) was rapidly deployed in China. Since the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication system is commercially applied, it is necessary for mobile terminals antennas to cover multiple operating bands to be compatible with various communication systems. Here a HSR-mounted broadband and high-gain monopole antenna is proposed. By using the meander technology and introducing the tapered structure, the proposed antenna operates over a bandwidth of 694-960 MHz and 1350-5975 MHz (VSWR<1.8), which covers both 2G-5G mobile communication and WiFi frequency bands. The dimensions of the proposed antenna are 400 mm × 330 mm × 78 mm. The measured average gain is 6.11 dBi over the entire bandwidth.

Methods for solving the carrying capacity problem for High-Speed Railways (HSRs) have received increasing attention in the literature in the last few years. As important nodes in the High-Speed Railway (HSR) network, large stations are usually the carrying capacity bottlenecks of the entire network due to the presence of multiple connections in different directions and the complexity of train operations at these stations. This paper focuses on solving the station carrying capacity problem and considers train set utilization constraints, which are important influencing factors that have rarely been studied by previous researchers. An integer linear programming model is built, and the CPLEX v12.2 software is used to solve the model. The proposed approach is tested on a real-world case study of the Beijing South Railway Station (BS), which is one of the busiest and most complex stations in China. Studies of the impacts of different train set utilization constraints on the practical station carrying capacity are carried out, and some suggestions are then presented for enhancing the practical carrying capacity. Contrast tests indicate that both the efficiency of the solving process and the quality of the solution show huge breakthroughs compared with the heuristic approach.
