Abstract Introduction Patient education is recommended to improve transition from pediatric to adult care for young people living with chronic conditions. But a consensus has not been reached regarding a particular model. Our study aims to understand how to implement a Developmentally Appropriate Patient Education during Transition (DAPET), which would revolve around the young people’s psychosocial development. Methods Three focus groups were organized with healthcare providers and two focus groups took place with the parents of young people with chronic conditions. We relied on Activity Theory to explore practices and to identify obstacles, as well as recognize which resources were available to implement a DAPET. Results Six themes were identitified via the thematic analysis. In summary, healthcare providers agreed on the need to engage in an educational approach centered on the psychosocial development of young people during transition. They did, however, highlight a lack of competencies in adolescent and young adult medicine and a lack of available resources to meet these goals. The parents wanted to redefine their role with healthcare providers in order to apprehend transition to adult care and to allow their children to develop self-management skills. Conclusions Healthcare providers and parents considered the implementation of a DAPET to be acceptable and even advisable. However, this program’s feasibility was questioned due to the perceived shortfalls of the hospital system as it currently stands and the ways in which an educational approach would be applied. An enabling environment is therefore required to facilitate the educational initiatives of healthcare providers and to encourage the participation of parents. The means and modalities for achieving this are discussed. Key messages Patient Education during transition from pediatric to adult care need to be developmentally appropriate. Healthcare providers need en enabling environment to carry on a developmentally appropriate approach during transition.

Freedom, autonomy and responsibility are the ends of every educational process, especially in the modern society: globalized, rapid, in transformation; society in which each one of us is called to make numerous choices. Therefore, it is urgent to educate to choose and educate to the choice, so that young people can emancipate themselves from possible conditionings. To this end, the Montessori method represents a privileged way: child is free to choose his own activity and learns "to do by himself" soon; the teacher prepares the environment and the materials that allow the student to satisfy the educational needs of each period of inner development. Then, Montessori gives importance to adolescence because it is during this period that grows the social man. Consequently, it is important to reform the secondary school in order to acquire the autonomy that each student will apply to the subsequent school grades and to all areas of life

There is growing interest in the development of measures and indexes of youth wellbeing. However, there has been a limited discussion on indicators to measure and select them. This paper reports on the results of a qualitative study on the selection of indicators to measure the wellbeing of young people in South Africa, and reflects on the relevance of the content of their values in choosing indicators for measuring their wellbeing. The data used in this analysis is based on telephone (9) and email (6) interviews conducted with 15 young people (male=5, female=10) aged 22 to 32 from five South African cities during July 2010. In the interviews, participants were asked to identify five issues they considered important to their lives, after which they were asked to rank them in order of importance. The issues indicated by the participants are described and discussed in six dimensions: economic, relationships, spiritual and health, education, time use and material. The indicators developed from this study are discussed in terms of their relevance for use in a measure of youth wellbeing in South Africa.

Based on Roberto Saviano's book Gomorra (2006), production of the TV series Gomorra – La serie (2014) was met with scepticism as many feared it would glamorise organised crime and, consequently, attract young people toward Camorra affiliation. The series' bleak portrayal of criminals and criminality was offered as a response to such concerns. Despite the preoccupations, Gomorra – La serie was hugely successful and, because of its quality, was sold to other countries. In Italy, the series' success can be measured by the popularity of its Twitter hashtag #GomorraLaSerie. Engaged with Henry Jenkins' theories of media convergence and based on a corpus of tweets bearing this official hashtag, this article proposes a quantitative analysis and advances conclusions regarding the Italian TV audience and second-screen viewing practices. Additionally, through a qualitative study of Saviano's tweets about the series, it examines the writer's use of the social media platform as a tool of narrative continuity. Finally, the article highlights a few examples of fan-generated media and concludes with remarks regarding Saviano's problematic position at the centre of a transmedia object.
