Movies have been everybodys favorite across all ages. Some movies are not suitable for certain ages and the parents assistance is needed during the watching movie process so that they can show the morals conceived in the movie. This study tries to shed lights on the elements contained in a movie entitled Sense and Sensibility, a movie made based on a novel by Jane Austen. This study was carried out in qualitative approach using visual feature analysis technique. The object of this study was the movie with the duration of 140 minutes. The data obtained were then classified based on its elements such as realism, local color, narratives, and symbolism. The result portrayed that the realism given in this movie is the condition of a noble family who had lost all of their wealth and life had been becoming crude. The local color depicts the social status in the mid-eighteenth century. The story was narrated in the linear plot and finally, the symbolism in this movie exposed much about the calming and melancholic nature of Devonshire.

Freightcar’s running gear springs are easily ruptured in the processes of manufacturing and using, losing the role of relaxing vehicle vibration, and resulting in accident. It is time to study the automatic recognition of springs defects based on image processing technology. Defects recognition is on the premise of accurate spring image location. An image location algorithm for the freightcar’s running gear springs is proposed in this paper, which is based on the structure characteristics of springs themselves. The algorithm mainly includes graying the image, correcting non-uniform illumination by wavelet homomographic filtering, taking binaryzation on image based on the iterative threshold method and locating springs’ boundary location, which could be obtained by image scanning column by column and feature analysis. This algorithm can achieve the automatic positioning of springs and has a good result to locate springs in the running gear images in case of different illumination; the accuracy rate has reached 96 percent. The study of this paper lays a foundation on the realization of automatic recognition of springs defects and has good application prospects.

An investigation of face-name learning strategies was done to determine if a visual-feature analysis and a word-coding strategy would improve the face-name learning process. The visual-feature analysis and the word-coding strategy did not produce higher recognition accuracy for faces but did result in significantly higher face-name recall scores shown by a control group and an incidental learning group. Data were interpreted within the level-of-processing approach to memory.
