Motivation: The finance and academic industries are highly discussed in the stock market trading domain. The increase in economic globalization shows the connection among stock markets in different countries, which produces the effect of risk conduction in the market. Forecasting the direction of every day’s stock market return is important and challenging. The growing complexity and dynamic features in stock markets are difficult in the financial industry. The inflexible trading method developed by financial practitioners utilized a larger amount of stock market features and is failed to achieve a satisfactory result in every condition of the market. Further, the existing data mining approaches are incomplete and inefficient. Aim: To overcome the issues in stock and problem of existing methods, proposed option trading strategies for rebalancing Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) in the stock market. Rebalancing-ETF measure the volatility of the stock to track the error of model and rebalance the threshold quality to improve the trade. The proposed method increases the order of threshold quantity to rebalance the trade. Results: The result showed that the minimum orders increases in rebalancing trade, which reduces the impact of price formations in market. The tracking error occurs when the larger quantity of threshold value reduces the quantity. Then, the markets are changed significantly when the Net Asset Values (NAV) of rebalancing ETF increases.

PurposeThis study investigates the impact of simultaneously replacing both midday single-price call auction and lunch break with multi-price continuous trading on intraday volatility–volume patterns as well as the intraday volatility–volume nexus.Design/methodology/approachThe analysis utilises 150 m tick-by-tick transaction data related to 333 stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul Equity Market covering a period of 2 months prior to and following the change. In addition to graphic comparisons, the study uses difference in mean tests, panel-fixed generalized least squares (GLS), panel-random GLS and random-effects linear models with AR(1) disturbance regression estimations.FindingsThe results show that intraday volatility and trading volume form an inverse J-shape and are positively correlated. It is observed that the implementation of the regulation change decreased intraday volatility and increased trading volume. Additionally, the results indicate a negative volatility–liquidity and a positive volume–liquidity relationship, supporting the mixture of distribution hypothesis.Research limitations/implicationsEnhanced market efficiency provides greater opportunity for investment and risk management. Investors can benefit from the findings on the intraday volatility–volume nexus, which is an indicator of informed trading, and regulatory authorities can use volume to oversight volatility.Originality/valueThis very rare regulation change of the simultaneous replacement of the lunch break and midday call auction with continuous trading is investigated in the context of intraday volume and volatility. This study also expands upon some important findings on the volume–volatility nexus for the Turkish Stock Market.

The article reveals the essence and features of the development of the stock market in Ukraine. It was established that the vigorous activity of countries in the world financial markets means that they also face a risk of global financial turmoil (the so-called “domino effect”). It is determined that the impact of global financial instability on the country depends on the openness of its economy that will lead to significant external “shocks”. The possibility of providing effective influence on domestic stock market activity with taking into account the changing world situation, development of perfect trading strategies for each participant is substantiated. The conducted analysis of the world market conditions of stock markets in recent years has made it possible to assess the real risks for new participants in the stock market and become the basis for the development of an appropriate effective trading strategy. The practical significance of the results is that they allow for a measurable approach to assessing the existing risk when choosing one or another trading strategy to move to the world stock market.

Abstract Trading in modern equity markets has come to be dominated by machines and algorithms. However, there is significant concern over the impact of algorithmic trading on market quality and a number of jurisdictions have moved to address the risks associated with this new type of trading. The European Union has been no exception to this trend. This article argues that while the European Union algorithmic trading regime is often perceived as a tough response to the challenges inherent in machine trading, it has one crucial shortcoming: it does not regulate the simpler, basic execution algorithms used in automated order routers. Yet the same risk generally associated with algorithmic trading activity also arises, in particular, from the use of these basic execution algorithms—as was made evident by the trading glitch that led to the fall of United States securities trader Knight Capital in 2012. Indeed, such risk could even be amplified by the lack of sophistication of these simpler execution algorithms. It is thus proposed that the European Union should amend the objective scope of its algorithmic trading regime by expanding the definition of algorithmic trading under the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) to include all execution algorithms, regardless of their complexity.
