This research presents an automation process of controlling room temperature based on the number of people detected in a room. The system consists of a single board raspberry pi computer, esp8266 micro controller, pi camera, and an infrared module. This research is divided into two parts, namely object detection using Raspbery Pi and Tensorflow and Open CV libraries and controlling air cooling system (ACS) using esp8266 and infrared modules by transmitting hexadecimal AC control codes. The ACS temperature is divided into four levels with a minimum value at 18o C and a maximum at 24o C. System testings were carried out in an empty room and a room with a capacity of 50 people that is fully occupied. The results show that the system is able to detect the number of people in the room and control the ACS, but under certain conditions some objects are not detected because the position and camera tilt is not optimal.

The room temperature electrocaloric effect is researched for (110) oriented KNbO3 film based on Landau-Devonshire theory. The phase map with different ferroelectric states is built at room temperature with the considerations of thermodynamic equilibrium conditions and minimum of thermodynamic potential. Five ferroelectric structural phases are obtained theoretically. The negative in-plane misfit strains are conducive to form the tetragonal c phase and the positive strains are in favor of the stability of tetragonal a1 and a2 phases. The electrocaloric effect relies on both misfit strain and electric field. Moreover, large electrocaloric effect is achieved in the orthorhombic phases.

In this critical review chapter, the authors explain the development of composite films of Barium Titanate (BaTiO3) and Poly (methyl methacrylate) prepared by solution casting technique. Different weight percentage composition of BaTiO3 has been selected to find out the best optimization condition for further investigation and correlate the results. The structural properties have been carried out at room temperature using XRD. Efforts have been made to correlate the results with investigated XRD results of pure BaTiO3 and its composites as observed by other workers at room temperature. The flow of experimental work and microscopic images are explained.
