In today's rapidly-changing business environment, the need for useful business analytics is vital for organizations, not only to succeed, but also to survive. Traditional enterprise systems have disabilities to meet the expectations of organizational decision makers in the competitive area. In this regard, it is necessary to evaluate the success of BI tools in organizations, and there is a need to provide a model for this assessment. Hence, in this study, a model for assessing the success of business intelligence is presented by identifying and introducing the most important and effective factors in evaluating the success of BI tools. This study is an applied study in terms of purpose and a survey-descriptive, empirical study in terms of methodology. According to statistical methods, importance of the success factors was evaluated and the results show that 24 factors were identified consequential in research model based on four areas such as organizational memory, information integration, knowledge creation, and presentation.

There is growing use of business intelligence (BI) success for better decision-making in many organizations. However, there is a lack of empirical studies on BI Success in academic research. Data Quality is of high importance to employees on every organizational level. The present research investigates Data Quality-BI Success relationship from an organizational dynamic capability perspective. Organizational dynamic capability is the ability to sense and respond to market opportunities and threats with speed, and BI can be of great use in that sensing role of organizational dynamic capability. Drawing on the dynamic capabilities framework, and literature about business intelligence and data quality, we hypothesize that BI Success and Data Quality relationship is moderated by organizational dynamic capability. A research model was developed to define the relationship of BI and Data Quality with organizational dynamic capability. Survey data were collected and used to assess the model. The results of the research show that better data quality is of significant value for organizations, as well as it can be a source of organizational dynamic capability and competitive advantage.

Organisations must derive adequate business value (BV) from Business Intelligence (BI) adoption to retain their profitability and long-term sustainability. Yet, the nuances that define the realisation of BV from BI are still not understood by many organisations that have adopted BI. This paper aims to foster a deeper understanding of the relationship between Business Intelligence (BI) and business value (BV) by focusing on the theories that have been used, the critical factors of BV derivation, the inhibitors of BV, and the different forms of BV. To do this, a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology was adopted. Articles were retrieved from three scholarly databases, namely Google Scholar, Scopus, and Science Direct, based on relevant search strings. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to select ninety-three (93) papers as the primary studies. We found that the most used theoretical frameworks in studies on BI and BV are the Resource-Based View (RBV), Dynamic Capabilities Theory (DCT), Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE), and Contingency Theory (CON). The most acknowledged critical factors of BV are skilled human capital, BI Infrastructure, data quality, BI application and usage/data culture, BI alignment with organisational goals, and top management support. The most acclaimed inhibitors of BV are data quality and handling, data security and protection, lack of BI Infrastructure, and lack of skilled human resource capital, while customer intelligence is the most acknowledged form of BV. So far, many theories that are relevant to BI and BV, critical factors, inhibitors, and forms of BV were marginally mentioned in the literature, requiring more investigations. The study reveals opportunities for future research that can be explored to gain a deeper understanding of the issues of BV derivation from BI. It also offers useful insights for adopters of BI, BI researchers, and BI practitioners.

This study explores the factors influencing the adoption of Business Intelligence Systems (BIS) in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), and also evaluate the extent of adoption in the universities. A research framework was developed based on the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework and the Diffusion of Innovations (DOI) theory, comprising of ten factors which were hypothesized and tested for the adoption of BIS in HEIs. Data was collected through a paper survey questionnaire from a sample of 120 managers and academicians in twelve private universities in Selangor State, Malaysia which were analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings revealed that Absorptive Capacity, Competitive Pressure, Complexity, IT Infrastructure, Presence of Champion, Top Management Support, and Vendor Selection, are the factors influencing BIS adoption in the universities. The results also indicate that most private universities in Malaysia are currently involved in level 2 of BIS adoption. Other implications are also discussed.
