In practice, the demand for a fresh product depends on how fresh it is, therefore, it is important to take expiration date into consideration as it is a key to determine the freshness level of any perishable items. Furthermore, based on marketing and economic theory, selling price plays a crucial role in influencing the demand. Also, a higher inventory level may enhance the profit as it encourages consumers to buy more. Since the demand for fresh product declines over time, markdown policy is offered after some time to increase the demand and profit while reducing the inventory. For this demand function, it may be profitable to maintain a high stock level and the zero ending inventory is relaxed to non-zero ending inventory. Salvage value is incorporated into the deteriorating units. Using differential equations, we propose an economic order quantity model which demand dependent on freshness-expiration date, price and inventory level under markdown policy. We also demonstrate the relationship between markdown time and the annual total profit. Numerical example and sensitivity analysis are used to illustrate the effectiveness of the model.

This paper deals with an optimal replenishment policy for the items having deterministic demand and whose deterioration starts after some fixed time. In earlier studies, it had been assumed that the deterioration of items starts immediately after the procurement, but it's not necessary in most of the cases. For instance, food grains will not start deteriorating immediately after procurement; most of the industrial products also start deteriorating only after some fixed time. Thus, this study removes this unrealistic assumption and considers items whose deterioration starts after some fixed time. The impact of deterioration on cost and how it will impact cycle time has been illustrated in this study. Complete analysis of the proposed model has been done with both optimizing and numerical techniques.

The halal industry is very developed lately. The halal lifestyle that is currently trending in Indonesia consists of the Islamic financial sector, halal food, halal travel, halal clothing, halal recreation, and halal media, halal medicines, halal medical care (hospital), and halal cosmetics. For example, a pharmaceutical industry such as Sidomuncul. Sidomuncul is a company that has the most halal products at this time. This study aims to partially examine the effect of the halal label and the expiration date on purchasing decisions. Then simultaneously analyze the effect of the halal label and the expiration date on Sidomuncul purchasing decisions. This research is quantitative descriptive research. The method in this research uses multiple linear regression with SPSS 25. The population in this study are all people who buy Sidomuncul products, while the sample in this study was determined by 50 respondents. The results of this study resulted in a significant t-test value of 0,000, which means partially the halal label has a significant effect on purchasing decisions, the expiration date resulted in a significant t-test value of 0,006, which means partially expiration date has a significant effect on the Sidomuncul product purchase decision, and simultaneously the halal label and expiration date affect the Sidomuncul product purchase decision.
