The aim of this study is to explore the understanding and the application of learning theories among the teacher in shaping students’ behaviour. In-depth one-to-one interviews with five experienced teachers were carried out to collect the data. Collected data were analysed based on a qualitative approach by using John Hattie’s eight-mind frame in order to build consistent data. Two themes and twelve sub-themes emerged from the interviews, including mindset (mind-frame 1 to 8) and practices (punishments, rewards, approaches the students, and way of thinking). The findings demonstrated that while teachers' perspectives on learning theories varied, they are largely consistent with Hattie’s mind frame. When perceptions and beliefs are shared, Hattie's mind frames may prove the way of thinking, and it can identify a successful teacher's style of thinking. Learning theories are important for students' learning, according to the teachers in our study, however, it depends on the practices and how the teachers apply the practices in learning theories. Going forward, this research adds to the moulding of school students' behaviours by allowing teachers to use these learning theories in a novel method that could become a new teaching practice in the school system.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efektivitas pengawasan dari perspektif guru Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) di Kudus. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahu efektivitas  pengawasan yang berjalan di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) di Kudus. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mengkaji perspektif guru terhadap proses pengawasan Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) di Kudus. Selanjutnya, peneliti juga mengeksplorasi model pengawasan yang efektif berjalan di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) di Kudus berdasarkan perspektif guru. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lapangan dengan metode campuran yang mengakomodasi kedua pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner untuk kuantitatif dan wawancara untuk kualitatif. Metode analisis data menggunakan survei untuk kuantitatif, dan komparatif konstan untuk kualitatif. Adapun lokasi penelitian sendiri di MAN 1 Kudus dan MAN 2 Kudus. Dari analisis data dapat diperoleh temuan penelitian sebagai berikut; pertama, proses pengawasan di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) di Kudus berjalan secara efektif. Kedua, perspektif guru untuk proses pengawasan Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) di Kudus positif. Sedangkan yang ketiga, model pengawasan yang efektif berjalan di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) di Kudus berdasarkan perspektif guru adalah Supervisi Klinis dan monitoring Administrasi. Kata Kunci: pengawasan yang efektif, perspektif guru, model pengawasan This study intends to look at the real phenomena of effective supervision from teachers’ perspectives of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in Kudus. The purpose of this research is described as follows: to find out whether supervision runs in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in Kudus run effectively or not, to explain the teachers’ perspectives to supervision process of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in Kudus, and to explore the model of supervision which effectively runs in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in Kudus based on the teachers’perspectives. This research is a field with mixed method that accommodate both of quantitative and qualitative approach. Collecting data using questionnaire for quantitative and interviews for qualitative. Methods of data analysis using survey for quantitative and constant comparative for qualitative. The location is in MAN 1 Kudus and MAN 2 Kudus. These research findings are; first, supervision process in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in Kudus runs effectively. Secondly, teachers’perspectives to supervision process of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in Kudus are positive. And the third, model of supervision which effectively runs in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in Kudus based on the teachers’perspectives is Clinical Supervision and Administrative monitoring.

There is a growing body of literature showing the importance of pharmacists’ involvement in the management of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) conditions. This study tried to explore the extent to which pharmacists in Dubai, United Arab Emirates intervene in the management and control of diabetic patients within different healthcare settings by using a qualitative approach method. Based on the sample pooled, our key findings pointed to the lack of pharmacists’ intervention in designing or altering DM drug therapy. In addition, hospital pharmacists in Dubai are not actively involved in the management and control of DM conditions. The only positive role of pharmacists were found in the primary healthcare setting where community pharmacists are consulted regularly on sudden or urgent complications related to DM conditions.

The Foundation Phase is a transitional stage from pre-school to formal schooling, especially Grade 1. The learners are often less familiar with the formal schooling space, making mistakes that teachers often regard as challenging and destructive behaviours. Therefore, this paper discusses in depth how the chosen Grade 1 educators create the rules in their classrooms and apply them. The research uses a qualitative approach to consider the experiences of teachers on creating and applying the learners’ rules. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with three teachers from Grade 1 who agreed to participate in the study. Thematic data analysis was used to analyze the data. The study found that there is often a disparity between the learners’ identities and the expectations of the teacher. This includes teachers treating young children as a homogeneous group who need to adjust to formal school programmes and not vice versa.

Abstract Background Pharmacists play a unique role in integrating genomic medicine and pharmacogenomics into the clinical practice and to translate pharmacogenomics from bench to bedside. However, the literature suggests that the knowledge gap in pharmacogenomics is a major challenge; therefore, developing pharmacists’ skills and literacy to achieve this anticipated role is highly important. We aim to conceptualize a personalized literacy framework for the adoption of genomic medicine and pharmacogenomics by pharmacists in the United Arab Emirates with possible regional and global relevance. Results A qualitative approach using focus groups was used to design and to guide the development of a pharmacogenomics literacy framework. The Health Literacy Skills framework was used as a guide to conceptualize the pharmacogenomics literacy for pharmacists. The framework included six major components with specific suggested factors to improve pharmacists’ pharmacogenomics literacy. Major components include individual inputs, demand, skills, knowledge, attitude and sociocultural factors. Conclusion This framework confirms a holistic bottom-up approach toward the implementation of pharmacogenomics. Personalized medicine entails personalized efforts and frameworks. Similar framework can be created for other healthcare providers, patients and stakeholders.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine teachers’ perspectives on school leaders’ selection and development strategies in order to propose/recommend strategies that are relevant to the context of the United Arab Emirates. Design/methodology/approach The study gathered data through group discussion of school teachers who attended the module “leadership for school improvement” taught by the researchers. The teachers who participated in this study include local and expat teachers who are currently working in both public and private schools in the UAE. The reports of the group discussion were used as transcripts and thematic analysis was used to analyse the results. Findings The results indicate that there is a strong aspiration for setting better standards for the selection of the school leaders. There is great interest in engaging experts and instrumenting accredited continued professional development training on developing school leaders. The respondents emphasised on the required qualifications, experiences and knowledge, and the need for mentorship approach. Research limitations/implications The key limitation of the study is the smaller sample size. Practical implications The outcome of the study offers necessary insight to the decision makers on the selection and development of school leaders in the UAE. Social implications The study insists that the social and cultural values of the UAE to be considered in the selection and development of school leaders in the UAE. Originality/value The study offers potential gap and scope for further research on school leadership in the UAE that could be further explored with many samples and cases for broader understanding.

The purpose of this study is to recognize the causes of overcrowding in primary schools in the north of Yemen, from the viewpoint of Yemeni teachers. The researcher took a qualitative approach. An online semi-structured interview was used for collecting the data. This research was conducted on teachers from Yemen's various primary schools. They were questioned about overcrowding in classrooms and the factors that contribute to it. Findings revealed that lacking infrastructure such as classrooms is one of the causes of such overcrowding.  Other causes are to have only one school in some areas, and not having enough teaching staff.

Ensuring drug safety among the patients is the main domain of pharmacovigilance activities worldwide. A pharmacovigilance system was established in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2008. Research evidence reflects that the current system is lacking in active participation from patients, and also, the inadequate role of healthcare professionals is anticipated. In this context, it is pertinent to know the general public’s understandings and their patterns of safe use of medication, which are unexplored areas in Dubai, UAE. The current study aimed to explore the public views, attitudes, and experiences toward medication safety, and to explore key factors enhancing the safe use of medications among the public in Dubai. This study adopted a qualitative approach and face-to-face, 14 in-depth interviews with public individuals, selected purposively using the snowball sampling technique. The interviews were conducted in different places in Dubai recorded and transcribed verbatim and thematically analyzed for data analysis. Reporting of adverse drug reaction was not well-known among all the participants. Public views towards safe use of medicines were limited to the side effects of the consumed medicines only, and to a lesser extent to the inappropriate indication and dosage. Most of the participants mentioned that gaining knowledge about the side effects of the prescribed drug was the main reason for reading the patient information leaflet. Quite a few participants have experienced side effects while consuming their medicines and they were unsure of how to deal with the situation. The current research also reflected the lack of proper communication between pharmacists and physicians in managing drug safety issues. Conclusively, the current research revealed gaps in public views regarding medication’s safety, which consequently may impact their attitudes during the course of medication use. Efforts need to be strengthened to enhance positive views and attitudes of the public towards medication safety and ADR reporting in the UAE.
