China has entered the new normal of the elderly society, and the aging population has a great impact on China's economic and social development. How to solve the dilemma of "one ticket is hard to get" in the elderly education and innovate and develop the elderly education is an important part of the modernization of education, which is related to the overall situation of building a well-off society at a high level. Taking Wenzhou as an example, this paper constructs a senior education mode of "general school + basic level + network", promotes the vigorous development of local senior education, and refines the school running experience of "separation of management and management, integration of resources, and professional guidance", which is the proper path for the innovative development of senior education, and has certain reference significance for the development of senior education in all parts of China.

In the 21st century, the aging population is one of the triumphs of humankind. The aging population is now conquering not only developed nations but developing nations too. The inclusion of challenges and problems of the elderly has now been increased, especially for elderly women. It is high time to focus on this vulnerable section, which has been ignored for an extended time. Despite such development of technology, medicines, facilities, and modernization, this weaker section still lay back. Their health and mental status depend on the overall level of care given by their family members and society. Elderly women are facing more health problems than men. Most of them are suffering from chronic diseases. Loneliness is a common psychological problem among all women. The preponderance of widows over widowers among the elderly is a grave issue. Very few of them are taking medical care from medical and non-medical institutions. This chapter explores the physical and mental challenges of elderly women in India.

ABSTRACTTo define policies to cope with the aging population of developed countries, one must combine several analytical dimensions in space and in time. Is there a contradition between short-term policies to contain the expansion of the care segment of health services and the potential increase in needs for the “old-old” segment of the population? How should policies aimed at the security of income be balanced with policies aimed at the organization of services, be they curative services or local services designed to protect the autonomy and dignity of the elderly? In this text, an attempt is made to put together the bits and pieces of the policy for aging puzzle.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has projected that the world should prepare for an aging society. As the fourth most populous country in the world, the elderly population in Indonesia is also continuously growing. In 2010, the proportion of the elderly group was merely 5%, and it is expected to increase to 11% in 2035. Understanding the current situation of the adult population in Indonesia would be crucial to prepare for the future aging population. This article analyzed the current socio-demographic status, nutrition status, nutrient intake, and health profile of the current Indonesian adult population through a literature review. The key issues to prepare for healthy aging in Indonesia are summarized. Acknowledging the profile of the adult and senior adult population in Indonesia will provide beneficial information for all stakeholders in preparing Indonesia for a better healthy aging population with improved quality of life.

As the U.S. population ages, there will be more cases of elder abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation and, consequently, an increase in elderly criminal defendants in the criminal justice system. Because elderly persons appear in criminal court most frequently as crime victims, understanding the problems and needs of the elderly defendant receives less attention. This chapter reviews the cognitive and psychological changes with normal aging, the heterogeneous nature of elderly defendants, and assumptions that law enforcement and court personnel may make when interacting with the elderly population. The chapter reviews the adjudicative process from the perspective of the elderly defendant, focusing on detention, mental competence to stand trial, physical competence to stand trial, discovery and trial. Controversies in adjudicating and sentencing elderly defendants are discussed, as well as the impact of the sharp rise in elderly offenders in prison. Accommodations for elderly defendants during the process of adjudication and the need for expert medical and mental health involvement are reviewed.

Abstract Introduction. Population aging poses many important economic, social, and health challenges to the modern world. This applies mostly to developed countries. The phenomenon requires joint action of Member States of the European Union, the World Health Organization, the United Nations, the Council of Europe as well as some unified strategies for the actions taken by these entities. Aim. The aim of this study was to demonstrate international strategies implemented in the face of demographic changes. Material and methods. The authors analyzed the documents outlining strategies for both organizations and entities, as well as recommendations for international scientific consultation on strategy of the aging population. Results. Analysis of changes happening to the oldest age groups showed the need for cooperation between countries. An overview of the strategies being taken at the moment and those that had been undertaken previously by international entities can contribute to modify the arrangements of the elderly; in order to improve the living conditions in multidimensional aspect. Conclusions. The key to achieving the desired effect through implementing the policies of individual countries is to monitor them on a regular basis.

China is one of the countries that have entered the stage of population aging. At present, the phenomenon of aging population has become a widespread concern of the whole society. Scientific and accurate prediction of aging population will help relevant departments to formulate specific countermeasures. This paper uses the Yearbook of China’s 1% population sampling survey in 2015 and the data published by the National Bureau of statistics. Based on the basic population prediction formula, the population prediction formula is established by using the index extrapolation method to predict the population aging development trend of provinces and cities in China from 2020 to 2050. The results show that: China’s aging degree will continue to increase, the size of the elderly population will continue to increase, 2020–2030 will be a period of rapid growth of the national population aging, after then the aging ratio will decline. The government should formulate security countermeasures for the elderly from various aspects as soon as possible and actively respond to aging the population.

Abstract Background: Previous studies had indicated that the incidence of Tuberculosis (TB) was closed related to the regional aging population and socio-economic condition. However, spatio-temporal variation and risk determinants of TB in aging population and socio-economic development unbalanced region have been unclear. Methods: The data on TB registered cases and social-economic factors from 2009 to 2014 were collected for each district/county in the region with Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province of China, which is consist of aging population and social-economic development disparity region. The Bayesian space–time hierarchy model was used to reveal the spatio-temporal variation of elderly TB incidence from 2009 to 2014, and GeoDetector was applied to measure the determinant power (q statistic) of elderly TB risk factors. Results: Elderly TB incidence present geographical spatial heterogeneity, they were higher in underdeveloped rural areas compared with that in urban areas. The hotspots of elderly TB incidence risk were mostly located in the northeastern and southern regions of the study region distant from metropolitan areas. Areas with low risk were mainly distributed in the Beijing-Tianjin metropolitan areas. Social-economic factors presented nonlinear influence on elderly TB incidence, the dominant factors were income of rural populations (q statistic = 0.20) and medical conditions (q statistic = 0.17). These factors presented nonlinearly interact with each other in influencing the elderly TB incidence; medical conditions and level of economic development showed the strongest relationship (q statistic = 0.54).Conclusions: These findings explain spatiotemporal variation and risk determinants of elderly TB incidence where there are social-economic development disparities. High-risk zones were mainly located in rural areas far from metropolitan centers. Medical conditions and economic development level were significantly association with elderly TB incidence, and they showed nonlinearly interact with each other in influencing the elderly TB incidence. Knowing this helps to optimize the allocation of health resources and to control the transmission of the TB epidemic in the aging population in this region.

The aging population presents numerous challenges and the design and management of living environments are not an exception. This literature review and analysis brings together topics related to the living environment of the aging population and the concept of sustainability. The article presents the review of the existing design concepts that are applied to planning the environment for the elderly, including (i) design for all, (ii) universal design, and (iii) inclusive design. Furthermore, this review highlights the aspects of sustainability and the peculiarities of the aging population that should be taken into account in the design and management of their living environment. Key points related to sustainable aging are highlighted, and the possibility of complementing the existing design concepts with the concept of biophilic design is proposed in order to strengthen their social, psychological, and ecological aspects.
