The morphometric observations were made on total length, standard length, pre-caudal length, head length, eye diameter and depth of body at pectoral fin base of estuarine catfish M. gulio. Males and females showed homogeneity in characters. A linear relationship was found between total length and morphometric characters. Regression of length and weight did not deviate significantly from cube law indicating isometric growth. The fish exhibited sexual dimorphism. Present paper attempts to describe length-weight (LW) and total length-standard length (TL and SL) relationships of fresh-water garfi sh Xenentodon cancila. Fish of different length and weight were caught using cast nets from Muriyadhar, Sunsari. The fish were kept in ice box in fresh condition and brought to fi sh laboratory, Department of Zoolog post Graduate Campus, Biratnagar. The data obtained from measurement were analysed using the formula W = aLb. The b values estimated for the total length and standard length in relation to body weight were 3.2202 and 3.2559 respectively. The values of b clearly indicate the allometric growth pattern and for total length and standard length relationship, the linear value of b was 0.3223.J. Nat. Hist. Mus. Vol. 26, 2012: 10-14

Purpose : To evaluate the normal distribution of exophthalmometric values in Turkish adult population and the effect of age, gender, refractive status and axial length on globe position. Methods : One hundred and twenty-two males and 114 healthy females with age ranging from 18 to 87 years were included in the study. The study population was recruited from patients presenting to our institution for routine refractive examination. Hertel exophthalmometer was used to measure the degree of ocular protrusion. Effect of age, refractive error, interpupillary distance, and axial length on globe position was detected with linear regression analyses. Results : The mean Hertel exophthalmometric size was 15.7+2.6 mm (range; 11 to 21 mm). The mean value for males was 16.1±2.6 mm (range; 11 to 21 mm), and for females 15.5±2.6 mm (range; 11 to 20 mm). The mean distance between the lateral rims of the orbit was 102 + 5.1 mm (range; 88 to 111mm). The mean exophthalmometric values were not statistically different in males and females. Age and mean spherical equivalents were negatively correlated with exophthalmometric measurements. Axial length was positively correlated with exophthalmometric measurements. Conclusion : The exophthalmometric measurement of the eye is affected by the age, spherical equivalent and the axial length. Standard normative values of the Hertel exophthalmometric measurements should be reevaluated with larger samples.

Outdoor baseline is the special length standard in the field of surveying and mapping, it can be used to verify the addition and multiplication constants of the total station and other photoelectric rangefinders. In order to ensure the authenticity, accuracy and reliability of verification results, conducting outdoor baseline traceability periodically is essential. At present, direct measurement by 24m invar tape or high precision electro-optical measurement is mainly used to achieve the traceability of outdoor baseline in China. Based on Shenyang baseline field, high precision rangefinder μ-base, 24m invar tape and high precision GNSS receivers are used for comparison experiments, and the experimental results are analyzed.

The establishing, measuring and monitoring of Electronic Distance Measurement (EDM) cali¬bration baselines in Canada is a joint program of the Geodetic Survey of Canada and provincial, territorial and municipal surveying agencies. Since its establishment in 1971, the 2.3 km National Geodetic Baseline (NGBL) in Ottawa has been used as the reference baseline for other calibration baselines; two precise EDM instruments, the Mekometer ME3000 and the Geomensor CR204, have been used to transfer the length standard of the NGBL to baselines across Cana¬da. Thirty-six calibration baselines, established as part of the National Baseline Program, now exist. The Geodetic Survey strives to maintain the published values of interpier distances at the highest accuracy possible. To this end, extensive remeasurements are being planned. For longer distances which may be required to calibrate or check GPS instruments, a calibration network with lines up to 222 km is being established.
