AbstractThe research measures the driving force of innovation in economic structure transition. In order to change the pattern of economic development, China is implementing a strategy of innovation-driven development. China’s capacity of innovation has been increasing, especially since 2012, and China’s innovations have taken a leap-forward development. Nowadays, innovation has become a main driving force in China’s economic development and hi-tech industries particularly make a great contribution. Although China’s tertiary industry has been dominant and its share in three industrial sectors has been exceeding 50% since 2015, a problem still exists in China’s economy that the proportions of primary and secondary industries are relatively higher compared with developed countries. In this paper we use PLSR model to measure the impact of innovation on China’s economic structure transition. It is found that innovation can expand the tertiary industry through shrinking the proportions of primary and secondary industries, transforming China’s economic structure into a more advanced pattern. Additionally, China is also devoting itself to the “Belt and Road Initiative”, which should be combined with China’s domestic innovation-driven development and realize sustainable development of economy worldwide.

Having experienced an economic crisis earlier, Taiwan was on its way to recovery when the crisis struck in 1997. In general, Taiwan's labor market was hardly affected by the crisis. Although the demand for foreign workers continues, there will be a decline in the employment of foreign workers in the future. The completion of construction projects and the upgrading of the economic structure would imply a lesser demand for foreign workers in the next few years. In the future, while the Taiwanese labor market would be more restrictive of less-skilled workers, it would be more open to professionals and highly skilled.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the makroeconomic effects of OECD countries, having a major economic share in the regional communities, in the scope of complex economic structure, and accordingly, to determine the effects of those on Turkey's exports and imports. For this purpose, Turkey’s bilateral export and import volumes with OECD countries for the period of 1996 to 2014 were modelled by using these countries’ macroeconomic time series variables and panel data sets. It was revealed at the end of the study that the most determinant macroeconomic factors concerning the increase in Turkey’s import is the increase in per capita GNP in these countries. This variable is seen to be followed by these countries’ urban population, export indices and the export increases of Turkey for these countries respectively.

Although critical of several specific drug industry practices as being major contributions to the current over-medicated society controversy, Mr. Turner believes that the pharmaceutical industry can work together with consumer organizations and the public sector in resolving these issues. Of particular interest is his observation that the economic structure of current drug development and research prevents the manufacturer from assessing the impact of a drug in terms of necessary health benefits.

This study aims to explains the impact of globalization and economic liberalization on Indonesia's economic structure and as a result, the increase of local original income (PAD) in the regions of Gresik and of Sidoarjo to support the implementation of local autonomy under Undang-Undang Nomor 5 Tahun 197-1. Entering the decade of l980's the government of Indonesia decided to reform its economic structure from a state-led development into a market-driven development by launching a package of deregulations. This, in turn, had an impact on capital inflows from foreign countries as well as increasing trade between Indonesia and other countries. These developments resulted in the emergence and the growth of industrial and trade regions in Indonesia, particularly in the regions ofGresik and ofSidoarjo. However, it brought about a marginal increase in PAD.  Therefore, the role of PAD had also been marginal in the process of implementing local autonomy.  Thus; this study concluded that the reposition of bureaucracy was an important action necessarily taken by the local government to improve its capability in implementing local autonomy.
