This article aims to investigate the relationship between stock liquidity and dividend across emerging market countries as well as examined the moderating role of financial market development on the relationship between stock liquidity and dividend. Data were obtained from the World Bank and DataStream databases. The study examined 3,258 listed firms from 22 emerging markets to be extrapolated in the emerging market context. To analyse the data, this article used the panel data Tobit model and panel logistic regression, both with random effects. The analysis revealed that financial market development has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between stock liquidity and dividend by improving local market liquidity and mitigating information asymmetry. The study findings provide information for managers to devise investment strategy in the emerging markets. This article provides new insights into the financial market development moderating role on the relationship between stock liquidity and dividend.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between financial market development and agricultural sector in Uzbekistan. Research tries to answer these questions an empirical way and tries to clear questions in a role of financial development as also other variables in agrarian sector. Results of this research show that the financial market in agrarian sector has some weak places.

The Impact

The aim of this paper is to investigate the role of international financial integration into financial market development of Euro area countries. Annual dataset from 1998 to 2014 by using multiple regression method. The study focuses on financial integration on determining the impact on financial market development. Overall results confirming the significant positive and negative effect of international financial integration (Stock traded& share price and stock turnover ratio, respectively) while insignificant positive andnegative effect of financial integration (financial assets and liabilities and share price volatility, respectively) on financial market development. The finding provides strong evidence of achieving higher financial market development due to the drivers of financial integration.

Each region/country seeks to become more efficient to gain the confidence of potential investors. Most of the Asian economies are categorized as emerging markets, where the role of financial markets has even become more intensified to provide financial services to increasing economic and financial activities. Asian financial market has momentously suffered during the Asian, and global financial crisis. The mass destruction was mainly caused due to the mounting uncertainty, which spillover throughout the region, where investors lost their confidence. Considering the pivotal economic role of financial markets, and implications evolve due to sovereign credit rating announcements, this study aims to model the role of sovereign credit rating announcements by Standard and Poor’s, and Moody’s on financial market development of the Asian region. For 24 Asian countries/regions, we perform a regression analysis on sovereign credit rating changes based on financial market development index and its factors. The findings of Driscoll Kraay’s robust estimator reveals that improvement in sovereign credit rating score enhances the financial market development in the region. Moreover, we applied several robustness checks, such as alternative estimators, alternative measures, and three sub-dimensions of financial market development. According to the findings from these robustness checks, the positive impact of sovereign credit ratings on financial market development in the region is robust. Unlike prior literature (which is confined to the event study approach), this study utilizes the historical grades to establish the relationship under the standard error clustering approach. Due to the diversity of investors’ speculations, we propose a micro-level extension of the present model to overcome a difference in country policy.

This paper has investigated the role of education and Financial Market Development (FMD) on the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows in Pakistan from 1970-2019. In the short run, education has a positive effect on FDI inflows. 1% increasing of government's spending on education would increase 0.361% of FDI inflows in Pakistan. Moreover, the FMD has a positive effect on FDI inflows in the short run. 1% increasing FMD may increase 0.0496% of FDI in the short run. Both education and FMD are supporting the FDI inflows in the short run. Comparatively, education shows a larger effect on FDI than that of FMD in the short run. However, FMD and government spending on education could not affect the FDI inflows in the long run. This paper recommends supporting education and financial markets to attract FDI inflows in Pakistan.

The questions, however, are “Whether financial development affects real economic activities?” and “Does the structure of the financial system matter for the economic growth outcome?” The aim of this chapter is, therefore, to briefly describe the concept of financial market development by highlighting the important role of the financial sector in the development of the real sector. Later in the chapter, the scope of the book is discussed, and research objectives are identified.
