High-Accuracy Multisensor Geolocation Technology to Support Geophysical Data Collection at MEC Sites

This article studies the embedded SPC and its application in roundness measuring system by analyzing the current roundness measurement principle and technology. With analyzing the process of data collection, date treatment and various kinds of tool graphic construction, we study the feasibility of integrating SPC into roundness measurement and finally apply the embedded SPC as pure software into roundness measuring system. We design the roundness measuring system based on embedded SPC and develop the roundness measuring system of low power consumption, high accuracy and easy application, which is suitable for industry field usage.

Dynamic Weighing

The integrated dynamic weighing scale with a high accuracy was developed based on analyzing the loads when vehicles passed on the weighing scale. The ANSYS software was applied to determine the sensor’s foil strain gauge position and the dynamic characteristic was verified through the experiment; meanwhile the hardware and measuring software in the system were simply introduced in this article. Finally through the experiments the Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) system can be used in traffic data collection and is assistant tool for overload check.

Given the increasing data collection capabilities and limited computing resources of future collider experiments, interest in using generative neural networks for the fast simulation of collider events is growing. In our previous study, the Bounded Information Bottleneck Autoencoder (BIB-AE) architecture for generating photon showers in a high-granularity calorimeter showed a high accuracy modeling of various global differential shower distributions. In this work, we investigate how the BIB-AE encodes this physics information in its latent space. Our understanding of this encoding allows us to propose methods to optimize the generation performance further, for example, by altering latent space sampling or by suggesting specific changes to hyperparameters. In particular, we improve the modeling of the shower shape along the particle incident axis.

Automation of the mounting of cryocooled samples is now a feature of the majority of beamlines dedicated to macromolecular crystallography (MX). Robotic sample changers have been developed over many years, with the latest designs increasing capacity, reliability and speed. Here, the development of a new sample changer deployed at the ESRF beamline MASSIF-1 (ID30A-1), based on an industrial six-axis robot, is described. The device, named RoboDiff, includes a high-capacity dewar, acts as both a sample changer and a high-accuracy goniometer, and has been designed for completely unattended sample mounting and diffraction data collection. This aim has been achieved using a high level of diagnostics at all steps of the process from mounting and characterization to data collection. The RoboDiff has been in service on the fully automated endstation MASSIF-1 at the ESRF since September 2014 and, at the time of writing, has processed more than 20 000 samples completely automatically.
