Increasingly, individuals are using more blended, hybrid, and online deliver formats in education and training. Although research exists about how the physical and social environment impact learning and training in traditional face-to-face settings, we have limited knowledge about how the environment affects learners when they are interacting with technology in their learning situations. In particular, concerns arise about levels of engagement, whether learning is enhanced, the impact or helpfulness of robotics, and how the social dynamics change. These five panelists bring expertise in education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, training within industry and the military, and the use of various teaching and training methods. The panelists will present their perspectives to several questions relative to how the environment can (or cannot) accommodate enhanced learning in education and training when technology is involved. Ample time will remain for audience participation.

The chapter establishes who determines the effectiveness of organizational diversity management while providing a sustainment plan for the coming years. Additional experiences from the author as a diversity practitioner help to establish how culture impacts diversity effectiveness in the U.S. Military as well as business and industry in the United States. Finally, as personality types tend to validate certain behaviors in the international community with respect to culture, the U.S. Military and supporting commercial contractors could easily change the mindset of diversity leaders when they imply that personality type has no bearing on the culture of the occupied country and the willingness to win the hearts and minds (Patreaus, et al., 2006) of those occupied. The Consulting Psychology Press (CPP) and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) can help us to better understand the diverse personalities required to help make organizations effective. At the end of the day, organizational leaders (regardless of their affiliation with the military, education and training, or business and industry) who receive various forms of diversity and inclusion education and training can enhance their overall effectiveness and diversity management programs.

Veterans benefits that subsidize education and training constitute the largest federal program for student aid. Using data from the 1987 Survey of Veterans, the author presents estimates of the effect of veterans benefits on schooling completed since entering the military and on subsequent earnings. Veterans benefits are estimated to increase schooling by roughly 1.4 years, which implies annual earnings approximately 6% higher than would have been expected in the absence of the benefits. This premium appears to accrue primarily to the 77% of benefit users who attended college or graduate school.
