Methods: A self-designed questionnaire was used to investigate 822 nursing students of grade 2018 in our school from four aspects: the necessity of pre-job training, the demand content of pre-job training, the demand of skill enhancement program, and the stress source of pre-internship. Results: Demand rate of the pre-job training of nursing students in the college was 99.5%, and main demand of the training content were nursing skill training (96.8%), nursing safety and occupational protection (95.1%), nursing theory training (92.9%); the main demand of nursing skills enhancement program were closed intravenous infusion (90.3%), (intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular) injection (87.8%), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (81.8%), and indwelling catheterization (77.5%); the main stress sources of pre-internship was lack of confidence in theory and skills, accounts for 61.1% in total 760 students. Conclusion: The pre-job training courses in higher vocational colleges should be close to the clinical needs of students, it is necessary to carry out pre-job training courses according to main demand of the training content, the main demand of nursing skills enhancement program and the main stress sources of pre-internship in the college; this article may provide reference for our school and other vocational colleges to develop pre-job training program.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the development and application of the new nurses' core skill program on the clinical skill, confidence, knowledge and performance of new nurses. Methods: This study was a nonequivalent control group post-test design on 46 new nurses with 3 to 6 months work experience in a general hospital. Data were collected from August 2015 to August 2016. A training program of core fundamental nursing skills was applied on 23 new nurses from 2016 in the experiment group, and an existing training method was applied on 23 new nurses from 2015 in the comparison group. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 23.0. Results: The experimental group ($89{pm}4.29$) showed higher score in practical skill assessment compared to the control group ($85.09{pm}3.99$) and showed a statistically significant difference (p<001). Conclusion: A training program of core fundamental nursing skills for new nurses proved effective in improving practical skills. Further research on the development of a systemic training program that can improve clinical nursing knowledge and work ability for new nurses according to the extended enforcement of a Nursing Care Integrated Service ward is needed.

Attitudes, measured on a 7-point semantic differential, of 25 nursing personnel toward concepts about alcoholics and their treatment potential improved after a 3-day training program. Interest was directed at whether these changes in concepts would remain stable and influence the effectiveness of the participants in their subsequent work with alcoholics.

The US federal pretreatment regulations have created a demand for qualified pretreatment facility inspectors. The objectives of the General Pretreatment Regulations are to protect publicly owned treatment works (POTWs), prevent pollutants from upsetting treatment processes, improve opportunities to reclaim or recycle wastewaters and sludges and reduce health and environmental risks from discharge of toxic pollutants to POTWs. Pretreatment inspectors have the responsibility of protecting municipal wastewater collection systems, treatment plants and the environment from the damage that may occur when industries discharge hazardous or toxic materials into a wastewater collection system. The inspectors must possess the knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely and fairly. To meet this need, a training program using the independent-study (correspondence) format was developed and field tested. Experienced inspectors active in the field prepared the training material on the basis of what pretreatment facility inspectors “need to know” to do their job. The training program has been implemented and used by inspectors as home-study or self-paced instruction (correspondence) as well as by colleges and universities as a textbook in formal classes. Since 1988 over 1600 persons have successfully completed this training program and over 7000 copies of the training manual have been sold throughout the world. In areas where the training program has been used, the results of an effective pretreatment program using qualified inspectors is very impressive. An agency with a training program that produces competent inspectors can have an effective pretreatment program.
