Abstract The main objective of the paper is to outline initiatives associated with leveraging creativity and innovation to sustain operational excellence. It will cover processes, applications and best practices toward continually leveraging creative and innovation such as the development of innovation team toward creating a collaborative environment in the generation, identification and development of ideas and new technological advancement deployment. The processes described will cover (1) the continuous monitoring and management update of innovation submissions, implementation and self-development course completion, (2) recognition for value addition resultant from technological deployment, (3) Technical Review Committee (TRC) centralization and streamlining of evaluating technologies and best practices, (4) the assignment of challenging targets and (5) the initiation of special innovation campaigns for pressing and challenging matters has resulted in various major accomplishments. The establishment of the 4th Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) team to address production engineering and well services challenges and collaborate for articulate, smart, more efficient and effective resolutions, process improvements and decision making. The results were remarkable with an incremental increase into intent to submit a patent file consideration, patenting, technology deployment and production of technical manuscripts addressing the unique achievements as well as the submission of awards applications. Technical collaboration toward triggering resolutions to ongoing operational challenges has resulted in various internal in-house built strides of best practices and other collaborative initiatives with other services providers such as: Intelligent Field Equipment Industrial Professionals Training: Special training for intelligent field equipment associated with smart well completion (SWC) exercising and optimization, data retrieval from multiphase flow meters (MPFMs) as well as a permanent downhole monitoring system (PDHMS) and conducting basic preventative maintenance (PM) requirements. Multiphase Flow Metering (MPFM) Advanced Monitoring System: An in-house developed MPFM system advanced monitoring to enable production/Intelligent Field engineers to monitor and diagnose MPFMs healthiness in all fields. It includes a validation mechanism to monitor and verify the different MPFM diagnostic data, alarming mechanism, flow rates and data visualization tools to verify the health of the installed base of equipment toward higher testing efficiency, reduction of manpower exposure to the field, and cost avoidance through minimizing operational logistical arrangements and minimization of unnecessary field visits by service providers. The ultimate intent is to heavily depend upon all employees to successfully propose solutions, and subject matter experts to coach employees in the successful implementation of practical resolutions to improve operations, optimize cost, and enhance employees’ satisfaction and engagement.

Abstract Mig-healthCare has identified sources in the countries and languages of the consortium providing guidance for community-based healthcare for migrants and refugees. A total of 54 sources that refer to best practices in seven European countries were identified. Results were categorized along with the themes: organization, communication, training, education and facilities & services. Successful organizational measures were a close collaboration with different governmental authorities, NGOs, community organizations and various local service providers. Moreover, engagement with members from both the host community and the migrant/refugee community in the design and implementation phases is essential. The need to track all activities through data collection and periodic evaluations is important in order to evaluate the effectiveness of systems. Funding was mentioned as important to secure continuity of projects and systems. Bridging communication barriers is a major facilitator to reduce health disparities. Differences in the types of practices and challenges per country were noted. Translators and cultural mediators are a key element in successful implementation, but across EU there is a need for more specialized staff to face the cultural barriers of the large variation in refugee/migrant backgrounds. The empowerment of migrants/refugees in promoting well-being through the engagement of the host community to help reduce stigma and discrimination is a successful strategy facilitating the access to care due to the increase of their health literacy skills. Finally, tailored services to give an answer to the specific needs of migrants and refugees are important, for example at first reception centres, standard medical screening and psychosocial risk assessment was recommended. Through this analysis, we can distinguish community-based care models elements facilitating the access of migrants and refugees to healthcare.

This article argues that company takeover regulation regimes must carefully balance two opposing notions. On the one hand, the regime must be designed to enable or facilitate the initiation and successful implementation of takeovers and mergers in the interests of economic growth and technological advancement. On the other hand, such a regulatory framework ought to be sensitive to the ever-increasing need to protect national security interests, especially from veiled threats. These threats include cybercrimes, private data hacking and espionage, which are endemic to takeovers contemplated by foreign persons that possess technological sophistication and are leaders in the rapidly unfolding Fourth Industrial Revolution. Recently some jurisdictions, such as the United States of America and the United Kingdom, have been active in reforming their investment laws to particularly strengthen the protection of national security interests. Similarly, in South Africa the debut introduction of section 18A of the Competition Amendment Act 18 of 2018 has enabled the addition of a concurrent but parallel standard to the pre-existing merger control criteria prescribed under section 12A of the Competition Act 89 of 1998. This article evaluates the efficacy of South Africa's framework for national security interests' protection in the context of merger control using its US and UK counterparts as comparators. Ultimately, the article proposes reforming the existing statutory and institutional framework to effectively accommodate national security interests in South African merger control.

In this paper, digital technologies development was analyzed as the basis for the so-called “fourth industrial revolution” with the potential for the qualitative transformation of the Ukrainian economy based on EU countries’ experience. Industry 4.0 is a new control chain over the entire chain of creating value throughout the product lifecycle. When developing an economic policy, it is important to pay attention to Industry 4.0. It increases productivity, produces new, better, and individualized products, and implements new business models based on “undermining” innovations. A comparative analysis of national initiatives I4.0 with their characteristics according to the main dimensions, including funding, focus, direction, was conducted. Particular attention was paid to considering deterrents to the successful implementation and enforcement of the I4.0 initiative in European countries. The factors of successful implementation of I4.0 initiatives in the EU countries were analyzed. Drawing on the analysis of the European experience of digital transformations in industry and national economies in general, the necessity of critical focus of such transformations in Ukraine was highlighted, and the need for state support of industrial transformation was substantiated. The emphasis was placed on the cooperation development between stakeholders within the implementation of Industry 4.0 – it is necessary to create national and regional 4.0 platforms, following the example of EU countries, which would bring together government institutions, businesses, and academics. The successful positioning of the Ukrainian modern industrial complex on the world markets depends on the high level of the interconnected system providing factors that characterize its development process. Considering the influence of a list of inhibiting factors on implementing the country’s industry accelerated development, a set of measures needed to transform Ukraine’s industry based on European experience was substantiated.

This paper aims to examine the factors influencing successful logistics information technology (LIT) among third-party logistics (3PL) service providers. Cross-sectional data from 136 Malaysian 3PL service providers were collected. Our findings indicate that the existence of technological capability, top management support, effective enterprise-wide communication and business process reengineering are pertinent. Nonetheless, the result demonstrate that firm size do not play a role in such initiative.

Construction Industry is evolving amid the fourth industrial revolution. Transportation, commerce, manufacturing and many other industries ripened the current technological advancement and are striving to utilise every development in the IT sector. The procurement of construction works is known to be very conventional and backward in the adoption of digitalisation. The construction industry's procurement and supply chain are blamed for the most inflated cost of construction projects, mainly attributed to a lack of transparency and trust between the industry stakeholders. This research explores the challenges of E-procurement adoption in the industry and identifies the potential opportunities for its usage. This investigation's data are acquired through interviews, and the data are analysed using qualitative content analysis. This study reveals compounding challenges (i.e., corruption and lack of commitment) that lead to the failure of such efforts in Nigeria and the potential prospects (i.e., transparency and efficiency). This study is essential in developing a more effective and transparent process of procurement so that the Nigerian construction industry is not be left behind in the fast-digitalising markets.

Background and Purpose: The electronic referral system was established in Iran with the aim of increasing access to care, improving interaction, and efficient use of resources. The purpose of this study was to determine the effective factors in the establishment and implementation of electronic referral system in Iran. Methods: The present study was qualitative with a content analysis approach. In order to collect information, in-depth and semi-structured interviews were used. After interviewing 42 people, the information was saturated. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed, and the main topics were quoted, cited, and coded. The content analysis method was used and all authors participated in the analysis process to avoid bias and agreement. Results: Four main themes and eleven sub-themes were mentioned as effective themes in the implementation of the electronic referral system by the interviewees including resource management (human resource management, financing and equipment, and infrastructure), stewardship (policy-making, inter-sectorial leadership, and intra-sectorial governance), advocacy stakeholders (senior officials and policy-makers related to the program, service providers, community), and social commitment (commitment and accountability of service providers). Conclusions: Successful implementation of electronic referral systems requires the development of an operational plan that correctly identifies the factors affecting the establishment and implementation, as well as the cooperation of all responsible organizations which can help improve the establishment and sustainability of the program. It is suggested that managers and officials active in the field of health services use the results of this study in the establishment and implementation of electronic referral system.

Global warming is referred to the rise in average surface temperatures on earth primarily due to the Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions such as Carbon Dioxide (CO<sub>2</sub>). Monitoring the emissions, either direct or indirect from the industrial processes, is important to control or to minimize their impact on the environment. Most of the existing environmental monitoring system is being designed and developed for normal environment monitoring. Hence, the aim of this project is to develop industrial CO<sub>2 </sub>emission monitoring system which implements industrial Open Platform Communications (OPC) protocol in an embedded microcontroller. The software algorithm based on OPC data format has been designed and programmed into the Arduino microcontroller to interface the sensor data to any existing industrial OPC compliant Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system<strong>. </strong>The system has been successfully tested in a lab with the suitable environment for real-time CO<sub>2 </sub>emissions measurement. The real-time measurement data has been shown in an industrial SCADA application which indicates successful implementation of the OPC communications protocol.

Purpose This paper aims to explore how a new industrial revolution with digital technology at its core is disrupting the workplace. It shares how HR has an opportunity to use data and digital technologies to reinvent how organizations engage with their workforce. It answers the question of how HR pivots from its legacy focus on compliance and being a steward of employment to the work and helping the organization strengthen its connection with its workers through improved digital engagement. Design/methodology/approach The paper is based on Willis Towers Watson thought leadership and references recent findings from their research. Findings The paper explores how digital technologies have changed how workers connect with their co-workers and the organization. In addition, it examines how digital technologies are changing how work gets done. Research limitations/implications The paper is not exclusively based on research. Practical implications The paper explores how digital technologies drive engagement, HR’s role as steward of the work and enabler of digital engagement and best practices for enabling digital engagement in the modern workplace. Originality/value This paper fulfills a need to assist HR leaders in thinking through the implications of the future of work and how digital technologies will shape that future.

AbstractObjectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and implementation of a standardized medically supervised concussion protocol established between a city-wide AAA hockey league and a multi-disciplinary concussion program. Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of injury surveillance, clinical and healthcare utilization data from all athletes evaluated and managed through the Winnipeg AAA Hockey concussion protocol during the 2016-2017 season. We also conducted post-season email surveys of head coaches and parents responsible for athletes who competed in the same season. Results: During the 2016-2017 season, 28 athletes were evaluated through the medically supervised concussion protocol, with two athletes undergoing evaluation for repeat injuries (a total of 30 suspected injuries and consultations). In all, 96.7% of the athletes managed through the concussion protocol were captured by the league-designated Concussion Protocol Coordinator and 100% of eligible athletes underwent complete medical follow-up and clearance to return to full hockey activities. Although 90% of responding head coaches and 91% of parents were aware of the concussion protocol, survey results suggest that some athletes who sustained suspected concussions were not managed through the protocol. Head coaches and parents also indicated that athlete education and communication between medical and sport stakeholders were other elements of the concussion protocol that could be improved. Conclusion: Successful implementation of a medically supervised concussion protocol for youth hockey requires clear communication between sport stakeholders and timely access to multi-disciplinary experts in traumatic brain and spine injuries. Standardized concussion protocols for youth sports may benefit from periodic evaluations by sport stakeholders and incorporation of national guideline best practices and resources.
