The work is devoted to a brief overview of the Interstitialcy Theory (IT) as applied to different relaxation phenomena occurring in metallic glasses upon structural relaxation and crystallization. The basic hypotheses of the IT and their experimental verification are shortly considered. The main focus is given on the interpretation of recent experiments on the heat effects, volume changes and their link with the shear modulus relaxation. The issues related to the development of the IT and its relationship with other models on defects in metallic glasses are discussed.

Abstract Helical structures continue to inspire, and there is considerable temptation to attribute helicity to columnar liquid crystals (LC). While short isohelical sequences are undoubtedly present, and longer ones in chiral or chiral-doped compounds, the order is only short-range, equivalent to a paramagnet without or with field. However, here we report a confirmed example of a true LC phase of achiral compounds consisting of columns, each being a long-range homochiral helix. Long-range periodicity and isochirality are maintained by intercolumnar interaction. This orthorhombic LC, spacegroup Fddd, is discovered in compounds with either bent or straight rod-like pi-conjugated cores. There are 4 right and 4 left-handed ribbons or star-profiled columns per unit cell. The structure is equivalent to an antiferromagnet with twist replacing spins. A theory based on interacting quadrupoles confirms this structure as energetically favoured over alternatives. The findings open a new approach to homochirality in achiral compounds, with promising optical/chiroptical properties.

The increase in demand for security purpose and detection of objects using the radar system has very much popular in many occasions. A new approach of finding objects under radar using Arduino controller makes it more efficient for Detection and Ranging. The Ultrasonic sensor mounted on the servo Motor produce ultrasonic sound waves ,if an object bounce off in their path it interrupts the sound waves which produce a signal to the user by displaying on computer , laptops or on any screen . This project aims at making an efficient, cheaper and more reliable way that reflects all the possible techniques that a radar consists of
