In the postmodern world young people no longer accept the values advocated by the institutionalised church as unquestionably relevant to their lives, one of the reasons for this being that the supremacy of the Christian faith has given way to a secularised society. Public practical theology includes the public as one of its audiences. In this paper the point of departure is a reflection-theory and not the praxis as such. This theory focuses on everyday concerns and issues in order to facilitate a dialogue between theology and the social sciences. The article aims to reflect on the enhancement of the experience of transcendence in the everydayness of the present-day youth. It argues that the agency theories of Anthony Giddens and Pierre Bourdieu can provide a theoretical basis and method for public religious education.

The article describes the formation and development of pedagogy and the position of Greek Catholic Church in the 19th century. The author of the article analizes features of religious education in the system of pedagogical views of Ivan Bartoshevsky and determines main elements of I. Bartoshevsky’s theory. I. Bartoshevsky in his works supported main principles of Christian pedagogy, described the possibilities of their realization and tasks concerning the educational process of a child. Moral and ethical system of Christian upbringing forms a theoretical basis of the university textbook by I. Bartoshevsky “Russian Pedagogy or the Science of Educationˮ (1891). The significance of Professor Ivan Bartoshevsky’s textbook “Russian Pedagogy or the Science of Educationˮ (1891) for the formation and development of university pedagogy was crucial. The article describes the influence of the principles of Christian morality on the process of education and clarifies educational functions of social institutes, in particular the educational duties of parents, family, church, state, and school. It is determined that goals and objectives of Christian education are of great importance in the formation of a person’s character and worldview and the stages of the process of education in accordance with the age periodization of personality development are characterized. The researcher defines the place and role of each childʼs educator in the formation of his/her authorities and substantiates main features of the ideal upbringing of a child. It is clarified the role of the surroundings, environment, school for personality education as well as the importance of a teacher in the process of child’s development and growth. Psychological and personal characteristics of students according to their age periodization are characterized. Keywords: Christian pedagogy, textbook, the process of education, social institutions of education, family education, school education, religious education, authority, teacher, church, pedagogical objects, pedagogical functions, effectiveness of education.

Various methods of video-enhanced microscopy combine TV cameras with light microscopes creating images with improved resolution, contrast and visibility of fine detail, which can be recorded rapidly and relatively inexpensively. The AVEC (Allen Video-enhanced Contrast) method avoids polarizing rectifiers, since the microscope is operated at retardations of λ/9- λ/4, where no anomaly is seen in the Airy diffraction pattern. The iris diaphram is opened fully to match the numerical aperture of the condenser to that of the objective. Under these conditions, no image can be realized either by eye or photographically. Yet the image becomes visible using the Hamamatsu C-1000-01 binary camera, if the camera control unit is equipped with variable gain control and an offset knob (which sets a clamp voltage of a D.C. restoration circuit). The theoretical basis for these improvements has been described.

This report describes an unusual and persistent dysphonia in two young women who had taken a therapeutic regimen of isotretinoin for intractable acne. We report perceptual and instrumental data for their dysphonia, and pose a theoretical basis for the relationship of dysphonia to this drug. We also provide recommendations for reducing the risk of acquiring a dysphonia during the course of treatment with isotretinoin.

Abstract The syndrome of unilateral neglect, typified by a lateralized attention bias and neglect of contralateral space, is an important cause of morbidity and disability after a stroke. In this review, we discuss the challenges that face researchers attempting to elucidate the mechanisms and effectiveness of rehabilitation treatments. The neglect syndrome is a heterogeneous disorder, and it is not clear which of its symptoms cause ongoing disability. We review current methods of neglect assessment and propose logical approaches to selecting treatments, while acknowledging that further study is still needed before some of these approaches can be translated into routine clinical use. We conclude with systems-level suggestions for hypothesis development that would hopefully form a sound theoretical basis for future approaches to the assessment and treatment of neglect.
