The high-temperature combustion mechanism of the BaO2–TiO2–organic compound system [urea, CO(NH2)2; hexamethylenetetramine, C6H12N4] was investigated by the microthermocouple technique. The adiabatic combustion temperatures (Tad) and equilibrium compositions of the final products were calculated by the computer program THERMO. The distribution of the temperature T(x), rate of heat generation Φ(x), and degree of conversion η(x) in the combustion wave were determined. The relative sizes of the combustion zones, the leading stage of the reaction, the kinetic law of components interaction, and parameters (activation energy, pre-exponential factor, braking parameter) were then calculated. Through this method, the optimal conditions for tetragonal BaTiO3 powder synthesis with spherical form and particles size of 2–5 μm were found.

Barium Titanate (BaTiO3) nanostructures are synthesized by the molten salt-hydroxide reaction. The crystalline phase and chemical structure of the synthesized material are analyzed using powder x-ray diffraction (XRD) and FT-IR techniques, revealing the tetragonal BaTiO3 crystalline structure. Morphology and thermal stability of the material are characterized using TEM and TG-DTG analysis. BET surface area analysis shows significant active surface available for adsorption and its surface area value is found to be 14.8427 m2 g-1. The maximum adsorption of strontium metal is found to be 56.3 for the 1.2 g L-1 BaTiO3 adsorbent dose which reveals a remarkable separation property of the BaTiO3.

Epitaxial BaTiO3 thin films were prepared on SrTiO3 (100) substrates by the dipping-pyrolysis process using metal naphthenates as starting materials. Highly oriented BaTiO3 thin films were crystallized by heat treatment at 800 °C and higher, from amorphous precursor films pyrolyzed at 470 °C. XRD pole-figure and reciprocal-space mapping analyses showed that the films were epitaxially grown on SrTiO3substrates and were pseudocubic phase with an a║/aτ ratio of 1.003, smaller than the c0/a0 ratio (=1.011) of bulk tetragonal BaTiO3.

The BaTiO3 precursor was prepared by alkoxide method, in which barium hydroxide octahydrate and butyl titanate were chosen as the Ba and Ti sources, and diethanolamine (DEA) as the polymerizing agent respectively. In order to determine the synthesis parameters of the target product, the phase transition process of the precursor with temperature increasing was investigated by TG-DTA. The effect of calcination temperature, the dosage of DEA and calcination time on the phase compositions and crystal structure of the synthesized samples were investigated by XRD. The results indicate that DEA can promote the formation of tetragonal BaTiO3 effectively, and the high-purity tetragonal BaTiO3 was obtained by heat treatment of the precursor at 1100°C for 3h with 1mL DEA dosage.

In this paper, the structural, magnetic and electrical properties of multiferroic BaFe12O19/MgFe2O4/BaTiO3 composites have been studied. BaFe12O19/MgFe2O4/BaTiO3 composites were synthesized by using the conventional solid state reaction technique and sintered at different temperatures. XRD analysis confirmed the existence of hexagonal BaFe12O19, cubic spinel MgFe2O4 and tetragonal BaTiO3 for ferrites and ferroelectric phases, respectively. The suitable sintering temperature for preparing BaFe12O19/MgFe2O4/BaTiO3 composites is between 1000 °C and 1050 °C. SEM analysis showed that as a whole the grain size increases and the pores is reduced with sintering temperature; thus the sample became denser. The coercive field and saturation magnetization decreases when sintering temperature is increased. Resistance of the samples decrease from 103 kW to 19 kW while the capacitance increases from 0.8 nF to 4.0 nF with sintering temperature.
