Epilepsy is a rather common disease in children and also in adults. It is defined as a primary chronic brain disease manifested by repetitive nerve seizures of different character and course. Because of this diversity, epilepsy has completely different effects on children’s life and adults as well. Purpose of Study: The purpose of conducting research was to investigate views and experience of pre-school and primary school teachers with integration and education of children with epilepsy. Methods: The investigation was conducted using mixed method research with application of questionnaire and interview. Findings and Results: Data from the analysis imply that most teachers knew what epilepsy is, what the disease course is like and what potential problems with education of children with this condition are. The prevailing attitudes of teachers towards inclusion of children with this disease were positive; however concerns and experience with certain problems related to their integration into a group of other children were noticeable. Teachers’ attitudes are very much correlated with their knowledge. Our conclusion is that knowledge of teachers in the field of chronic diseases of children requires improvement. Therefore, focus on education not only about epilepsy but also about other chronic diseases during teacher preparation is required. Keywords: Epilepsy, teacher, school.

Abstract Background In the Netherlands, more than half of the teachers working in primary education experience high levels of work stress. Compared to other professions, teachers are more likely to drop out from work and develop mental illnesses. Almost one in five even choose a new profession within 5 years after starting as a teacher. This indicates an urgent need for interventions to reduce stress levels in teachers. However, few evidence-based effective interventions targeting stress and work-related problems in the primary educational system are available. Aim In the current paper, we describe the protocol for a randomized controlled study (RCT) comparing an 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) intervention with a wait list control condition in primary school teachers. We hypothesize that teachers who participate in the MBSR programme will report less stress (primary outcome) than those in the control group at post-test and at 3-month follow-up. We also expect a decrease in teachers’ absenteeism and improvements of mental health, teacher skills, classroom climate quality and the pupil-teacher relationship (secondary outcomes). Finally, we hypothesize that self-compassion, mindfulness skills and emotion regulation skills could mediate effects. Methods/design A mixed-method study will be conducted among N=155 Dutch primary school teachers (grade 1 to 6). The quantitative study will be an RCT, in which teachers will be randomly allocated to the MBSR or waiting list control condition. Trial participants will not be made actively aware of their condition. The data analysts will be blinded. Online questionnaires will be sent to teachers before and after the MBSR programme, and at 3-month follow-up. Information about absenteeism will be collected. In the qualitative part of the study, we will interview teachers to examine their perceived effects of MBSR on their teaching skills, the classroom climate quality and the pupil-teacher relationship. Discussion This protocol paper describes a mixed-method study design with an RCT and a qualitative evaluation to evaluate an MBSR programme on perceived stress among primary school teachers. If the MBSR programme proves to be effective, it could be implemented as a programme to reduce stress and improve mental health and teaching outcomes in primary school teachers. Abstract: Classroom assessment (PBD) is introduced with the purpose of assessing and measuring the holistic development of a student's learning. PBD needs to be implemented to ensure that students develop an interest and enjoyment of learning. The burden of examination has been fully reduced to ensure that student character building can be carried out from standard one until three. This research is conducted to understand how primary school teachers in Malaysia implement PBD. The main aspects that been researched is on how teachers are integrating curriculum, teaching and assessment and the second is on how teachers are implementing PBD. Researcher has chosen to use a qualitative approach because this research aims to explore and understand in-depth on how teachers are implementing PBD. Ten teachers were selected to obtain data on the implementation of PBD. Researcher conducted interviews and observations during the data collection process. The findings were reported based on themes generated from the data obtained. Three themes have been developed to explain how teachers integrate curriculum, teaching and assessment as well as implementing PBD. The themes can also explain in detail the process of implementing PBD among these teachers. Ideally, teachers would still need ongoing supervision and guidance to ensure that they can understand and realize the implementation of PBD as required. This research also shows that there are still some gaps that policymakers need to fill in to ensure that the goals of the implementation could be achieved.
