We present an analysis of reports, round table discussions, approaches presented at the IV International Conference “Designing the Future and Horizons of Digital Reality”. The focus of the conference participants was the analysis of the results, risks and prospects for the development of the computer reality of the world and the Belarus-Russia Union State from the position of an interdisciplinary synthesis of knowledge at the intersection of philosophy, mathematics, computer science, sociology and a number of other disciplines. At one time, the Nobel Prize laureate academician Zh.I. Alferov said that it is in Russia and Belarus that the potential in the field of information and telecommunication (IT) technologies is greatest among the post-Soviet countries. And it is these technologies that should become the basis of our scientific and technical breakthrough. This foresight is the leitmotif of this conference. Many innovations in our countries are perceived with the imperative: “New is good”. But it’s not always the case. Our world is not linear. It is characterized by bifurcation points, in one of which it is now. Discoveries, technologies, inventions at this point can determine which branch of further development will be chosen. Therefore, a broad interdisciplinary analysis of the strategic risks of the development of computer reality is required. The choice that is now being made must be conscious and responsible. This circle of problems is also in the center of attention of the conference participants.

This chapter picks up the story of Esther’s life after she and her husband moved to Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, in 1959, and Joshua became chairman of the newly formed Genetics Department. The Lederbergs separated in September 1966, divorced in 1967, and a year later, Joshua married Marguerite Stein, a thirty-year-old divorcee and pediatrician. Esther Lederberg collaborated with her husband less and less after the move to Stanford. When they separated, Esther was suddenly exiled from the laboratory, cut off from research funding, and facing uncertain employment prospects. After winning the Nobel Prize, Joshua began collaborating with new colleagues in chemistry, engineering, and computer science. He became an international proponent of exobiology. In 1976, Esther Lederberg became director of the Plasmid Reference Center of Stanford University. Although it was not a research position, she applied her extensive knowledge of plasmids and bacteria to curating one of the largest collections in the world. She held this position until her retirement in 1985.

The trauma of invisibility, or why Ukrainian literature has not won the Nobel prize yetThe allegation that the absence of a Nobel Prize laureate among Ukrainian writers means that Ukrainian literature is underdeveloped is unfair and ignorant. This paper points to the reasons for the invisibility of Ukrainian literature in the world. Academic works in postcolonial studies and polysystem theory prove that literature is never isolated from politic, economic and social environments. Ukrainian literature used to develop in inimical environment; as Russian tsarist and totalitarian authorities oppressed Ukrainian writers, there was no infrastructure that would support Ukrainian literature and promote it abroad. Another issue is Western-centrism of the Swedish Academy. Statistics show that most of the laureates came from the countries of West Europe and the USA. Many times writers from the outlying areas of Europe Russia, Poland, Greece, Switzerland were awarded, but the rest of the world is almost invisible for the Nobel Committee. In conclusion, there is a short list of initiatives that are aimed at raising the profile of Ukraine and its culture in the world.

The article considers the main problems affecting the development of international tourism and predicts the further development of the situation. The growing tourist flow has contributed to the intensification of entrepreneurship in all sectors of the economy, capitalization of assets, job creation, economic and social growth. In 2019, the global tourism industry provided about 330 million jobs, equivalent to 10.3% of total employment. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented crisis in the tourism industry. The flow of tourists in the world has decreased by about 65%. In January-September 2020 alone, the number of international revenues decreased by 70%.This has resulted in the loss of $ 730 billion and more than 120 million jobs. It is noted that in modern conditions there are possible directions of development of inbound and domestic tourism, which are an important factor influencing the economy, but the weakening of external restrictions and lack of competitive service in the Ukrainian tourism industry will contribute to further development of international tourism. Those countries in which tourism occupies a significant share in GDP, are interested in attracting tourists as soon as possible and are ready to promptly implement all necessary anti-epidemic measures in the tourist infrastructure. For the Ukrainian government today, such a strategy is not a priority. Based on this, it is proved that the essence of the scientific and applied aspect of managing the development of international tourism is based on the theory of large business cycles and the theory of prediction. It was emphasized that the world crises ended sooner or later and a new round of development began. The task of mastering the forces of socio-economic life and subordinating them to the conscious, planned leadership of the state, as well as constructive and continuous social dialogue between the government and social partners, is the next practical transformation of today. The program of conscious organizational and regulatory steps should be knowledge, anticipation and action plan. When developing an anti-crisis plan to overcome the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism sector in Ukraine, it is necessary to take into account the recommendations of the Global Crisis Committee on Tourism, namely: crisis management and job preservation; support for self-employed workers; providing incentives and implementing appropriate state policy in the field of international tourism. In predicting the future development of the situation, more attention should be paid to the role of the tourism sector in the country's economy and the achievement of sustainable development goals; develop plans for preparedness for the challenges of the future and use this opportunity to move to sustainable development of tourism facilities.

Ngā Ūpoko Tukutuku/the Māori Subject Headings (MSH) were released in 2006, with the aim of “provid[ing] a structured path to subjects that Māori customers can…use to find material in libraries…using terms familiar to Māori and arranged in a hierarchy that reflects the Māori view of the world”. The project is a world leader and internationally well-regarded, but very little literature has been published evaluating the uptake and use of the MSH. I talked with staff in wānanga, university, public, and special libraries, to explore how research libraries are applying the MSH and offering the MSH to their users, when adding metadata, providing reference and research services, or supporting library users to search independently. Libraries employed diverse approaches tailored to their specific users, but participants consistently emphasised the importance of the MSH, advocated for further development of the thesaurus, and hoped for more training and information sharing between libraries. Results are discussed in terms of four questions - What is working well? What could work better? What are the benefits of this work? What further questions do we need to answer? Suggestions for further research include broader assessment of the actual and potential uptake of the MSH in libraries and other memory institutions, discussion with library users, and consideration of the future development of the MSH.

This chapter gives an overview of the scholarship of Asian Edwardseans and the significant publications of primary and secondary sources on Edwards in Asia. There remains today little critical research on Jonathan Edwards’s influence in Asia or Asian Edwardsean scholarship. Thus, the significant contributions of Asian scholars to Edwardsean scholarship have been largely unacknowledged. This chapter begins by assessing the state of Korean Edwardseans, which is the second-largest group of Edwardseans in the world. Korean scholars, publications, and churches together reveal a robust engagement with Jonathan Edwards’s life and thought. Edwards’s influence on the Korean Church has rapidly accelerated in recent decades and is poised for continued growth. In addition to Korea, Japanese, Chinese, and Singaporean Edwardsean scholarship receives attention. Throughout the chapter, comments on the future of Asian Edwardsean scholarship are provided, including pointing out areas where further development remains necessary.

The religious propaganda carried on in Italy by the Protestant churches has not, we must confess, yielded the results they presumably hoped for. It is not that they have achieved no practical result. Doubtless they have done good to scattered groups of believers. But the result has had no national importance. It has not been felt as a vital force in the world of Italian culture, nor as creating a spring of living, genuine religious feeling such as could exercise a noticeable influence on the further development of the religious consciousness of the country.

The article examines some of the world’s economic realities in the context of a pandemic. It is noted that the world will experience the economic consequences of the pandemic for several more years. Well-established supply chains have been disrupted, some cranes have fallen into deep recessions, and the recovery of some of the world’s leading economic sectors is still in doubt. No one could have imagined that such a large industry as the oil industry, in the literal sense, will go into negative territory, and the air carriers will remain practically out of work. However, this took place in real life and was reflected in economic history. Therefore, in order to overcome these negative trends in the future, it is necessary to learn from the mistakes of today, this will make it possible to prevent the shutdown of economically important industries in the future and allow the economy to develop, even if not at a high pace, but still within the framework of a certain progressive development. The purpose of the work is to analyze some of the economic events that took place during the pandemic in order to identify the causes of their occurrence and further development trends.
