Objectives: This study examined the effects of Gamisachil-tang on an anorexic patient with depression.Methods: A patient suffering from anorexia and depression was treated with Korean herbal medicine (Gamisachil-tang) for 14 days. To evaluate the therapeutic effect, we measured the daily food intake of the patient and used the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for anorexia.Results: Following treatment, both the patient’s daily food intake of the patient and VAS score for anorexia had improved.Conclusion: These results suggest that Gamisachil-tang has a beneficial effect on both anorexia and depression.

Bone loss is a well-known consequence of skeletal unloading in long-duration spaceflight. Its prevention and recovery do not have a perfect solution and often require physical therapy. In this paper, we developed a system to prevent and recover bone loss with the combination of electrical stimulation (ES) and mechanical stimulation (MS). The system provides four-channel electrical stimulation and two mechanical stimulations. Various parameters of the stimulations can be tuned to achieve the best therapeutic effect.

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is one of the main causes of heart failure and could increase death, hospitalization, and rehospitalization rate. The effect of conventional medicine treatment (CMT) is limited; meanwhile, the combination of CMT and Oral Chinese Herbal Medicine (OCHM) represents exciting adjunctive therapies. In this study, we ascertained the therapeutic effect of OCHM in combination with CMT for dilated cardiomyopathy by using meta-analysis methods for controlled clinical trials. We searched studies from five databases and extracted data from these studies. We also assessed the methodological quality of the included studies. We evaluated the following outcome measures to estimate the prognosis in patients with DCM: left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular end-diastolic dimension (LVEDD), stroke volume (SV), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), 6-minute walk test (6MWT), and overall efficacy. The result showed that OCHM combined with CMT for the improvement of therapeutic effect in DCM patients. However, the evidence remains weak due to the small sample size, high clinical heterogeneity, and poor methodological quality of the included trials. Further, large sample size and well-designed trials are needed.

Remodeling process results from the action of the tissue-forming osteoblasts and the tissue-resorbing osteoclasts which work together in certain cell units called basic multicellular units (BMUs). The local regulation of the bone cell function includes the receptor activator of nuclear factor κB ligand (RANKL)/ receptor activator of nuclear factor κB (RANK) / Osteoprotegerin (OPG) system. These molecules are key factors linking bone formation to resorption during the bone remodeling process. The OPG/RANKL/RANK system has a role in the pathogenesis of bone loss by modulating RANK-induced osteoclastogenesis. This role has provided the rationale for durg development that treat the bone diseases. Systemic OPG therapy was used for bone disease treatment parenteral. According to our knowledge that got from researches, there is no study has been done to explore the use of the local delivery system of OPG in the bone resorption treatment. This approach may have similar osteogenic potential in bone defects that might be capable of treatment the bone loss.
