The paper presents the results of a research on determining the temperature and shearing rate effect on dynamic viscosity of type B biofuels. This type of fuels are diesel fuels containing a biocomponent supplement. The “B” value denotes a volumetric share of the biocomponent in a mixture with diesel fuel. Three kinds of biofuels have been tested: B100 (100% RME), B20 (20% RME) and B5 (5%RME). B20 and B5 biofuels were prepared on the basis of commercial VERVA ON diesel oil. The dynamic viscosity of B100 RME biofuels within the temperature range from 30 to –15oC assumes values from c.a. 10 to 95 mPa·s. The dynamic viscosity of RME biofuels at constant temperature 25oC within the range of shearing rate from 0 to 2000 s–1 changed its value from 7 to 15 mPa·s. B5 biofuel reveals also a strong dependency of the dynamic viscosity in the shearing rate function. For the lowest values of the shearing forces the dynamic viscosity assumed the values of 2.5 mPa·s. The dynamic viscosity grew reaching the value of 8.5 mPa·s at 2000 s–1 along with the increasing shearing forces. The research demonstrated that the dynamic viscosity of fuels is seriously affected not only by the temperature, as has been hitherto suggested, but also by the shearing rate.

In this experimental study, a four stroke diesel engine was conducted to investigate the effect of adding water-based ferrofluid to diesel fuel on engine performance. To our knowledge, Magnetic nanoparticles had not been used before. To this end, emulsified diesel fuels of 0, 0.4, and 0.8 water-based ferrofluid/Diesel ratios by volume were used as fuel. The ferrofluid used in this study was a handmade water-based ferrofluid prepared by the authors. The results show that adding water-based ferrofluid to diesel fuel has a perceptible effect on engine performance, increasing the brake thermal efficiency relatively up to 12%, and decreasing the brake specific fuel consumption relatively up to 11% as compared to diesel fuel. In addition, the results indicate that increasing ferrofluid concentration will magnify the results. Furthermore, it was found that magnetic nanoparticles can be collected at the engine exhaust using magnetic bar.

Abstract This paper presents the selected rheological properties of pancake dough such as dynamic and kinematic viscosity and fluidity. The effect of used ingredients and temperature on rheological properties is investigated. Measurements were performed on three pancake dough samples. In two samples, there was used milk with a different fat content, and in the third sample, all ingredients were in a powder state. A digital rotational viscometer Anton Paar DV-3P was used for measuring the rheological properties. The principle of viscometer measurement is based on the dependence of sample resistance to probe rotation. Results of measurements are shown as graphical dependencies of rheological parameters on temperature. Exponential functions were used to express the dependencies of all rheological parameters on temperature. Dynamic and kinematic viscosity decreased, and fluidity increased with temperature. The highest values of dynamic viscosity were obtained for pancake dough from powder ingredients. A higher fat content of used milk caused higher values of dynamic viscosity.

The process of commodity diesel fuel production in a refinery has been modelled by the use of the Generalized Net (GN) apparatus. GNs are extensions of Petri nets and of all their modifications and extensions. The model accounts for the orders of different grades of diesel fuel and the available amounts of the different diesel fuel components. It can be used for the synchronization and optimization of these processes.

From a vehicle arson case, it briefly introduced the basic situation and investigation of fire, particularly discussed the inspection process of samples, even compared some main components with suspected criminal tool at length. The results showed that it was deteced gasoline composition in extracted material evidence of vehicle combustion residue, but the vehicle were diesel fuel car. Then it analysed in detail the difference of gasoline, diesel oil and mixture of gasoline and diesel oil on composition. Their composition characteristics were both have aromatic hydrocarbons, such as dimethylbenzene series, trimethylbenzene series, tetramethylbenzeneseries, methylindane, naphthalene series, But alkane composition and distribution was not the same, as diesel contained C11-C20 linear paraffin and branched paraffin which obviously normal distribution, even the content of alkanes was significantly higher than aromatic hydrocarbon.but gasoline was different , not only the alkane characteristics is not obvious, but also aromatic hydrocarbons high content; While the content of alkanes and aromatic hydrocarbon were similar in mixture. By comparing the plastic drum left on scene with inspected samples, their gasoline characteristics were the same, Thus we can determine the plastic drum was criminal tool of setting fire, it could provide powerful evidence to solve cases for fire investigators and criminal investigators.

The rates of opercular beat of 16 specimens of Fundulus diaphanus diaphanus were recorded over a temperature range from 4.3° to 17.5 °C. in order to determine how this respiratory movement varied with temperature and some of the sources of variation in rate. While the rate of beat varies directly as the temperature, over a period of several hours at any constant temperature continuous recordings of the rate show recurring cycles of rise and fall in beat frequency that are chiefly responsible for the scatter of the observations. Both the duration of a cycle and the limits of rise and fall for each cycle are definitely set by the temperature. The possible dependence of these phenomena upon central nervous activity is discussed.

Biodiesel is an alternative diesel fuel that can be produced from renewable feedstocks such as vegetable oils, waste frying oils, and animal fats. It is an oxygenated, non-toxic, sulphur-free, biodegradable, and renewable fuel. Many engine manufacturers have included this fuel in their warranties since it can be used in diesel engines without significant modification. However, the fuel properties such as cetane number, heat of combustion, specific gravity, and kinematic viscosity affect the combustion, engine performance and emission characteristics. In this study, the engine performance and emissions characteristics of two different petroleum diesel fuels (No. 1 and No. 2 diesel fuels) and biodiesel from soybean oil and its 20 per cent blends with No. 2 diesel fuel were compared. The results showed that the engine performance of the neat biodiesel and its blend was similar to that of No. 2 diesel fuel with nearly the same brake fuel conversion efficiency, and slightly higher fuel consumption. CO2 emission for the biodiesel was slightly higher than for the No. 2 diesel fuel. Compared with diesel fuels, biodiesel produced lower exhaust emissions, except NO x.

The paper presents up-to-date and perspective requirements for the quality of diesel fuels. The effect of chemical, as well as fractional composition on the quality of diesel fuels is marked. The capability of obtaining prospective ecologically friendly diesel fuel based on the mixture of Azerbaijani oils via hydro-treatment in the presence of the catalyst of alumonickelmolibdene is noted. Ecologically friendly diesel fuels with ASTMD 4294 by sulfur - 0.039 % mass, ASTMD 3227 by sour sulfur - 0.006 % mass, ASTMD 5708 by metals: V ˃ 2 mg/kg, Ni ˃ 1 mg/kg, Fe ˃ 3 mg/kg, Na ˃ 8 mg/kg, as well as with the freezing temperature of ASTMD 97 – 50 оС have been obtained. Such kinds of diesel fuel meet EN standards and provide environmental safety in storage and transportation to the European countries. The prospect of obtaining and using buffer plug (mixture of petroleum products) during consistent pumping of various sorts of oil products without ecologic-economic risks of jet fuels is shown as well.
