<p>In the late 1990s, many U.S. states deregulated electric utilities, allowing for competition among power generators.   Deregulated states then adopted retail choice programs, allowing customers to choose their power provider.  In addition, a significant merger wave among large utilities ensued.  How did these events impact consumer welfare? This study examines the effects of utility deregulation and mergers, by analyzing electricity price and output changes among deregulated and regulated states.  I find that deregulation may have had a positive effect when states adopted certain measures, such as retail choice or fuel changes, that enhanced competition and lowered costs.  Mergers also affected consumer welfare, with differential impacts found between the merger of generation firms versus the merger of generation and transmission companies. </p>

The main aim of this research was to examine the effect of intrinsic attributes on impulsive buying behaviour among young consumers with special reference to Indian context. After employing exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis on select consumers under the study, results showed that personality significantly shapes impulsive buying predispositions. Furthermore, select personality dimensions vis-à-vis expressive propensity, pleasure-seeking propensity, sociableness, emotional stability, conscientiousness and conserving propensity have significant bearing on the outcome of impulsive buying behaviour. In the current study, some of the select personality attributes comprising of expressive propensity, pleasure-seeking propensity and sociableness have been found to have positive effect on impulsiveness while other factors, namely, emotional stability, conscientiousness and conserving propensity have negative effect on the impulsiveness. These findings are paramount both from the perspective of consumer welfare advocates and corporates and could largely support them in their respective endeavours.

Consumer welfare and their satisfaction is the primary and basic objective of any government, policy makers and economists. The theory of economics encircles from welfares of the consumers. In this regard, the demand function has persuasive role in determining the welfare through purchasing power. That’s why, the consumer welfare is measured from Marshallian’s demand through Indirect Utility Function during 1980-2017 for Pakistan. The variables are stationary at level and in analytical technique, the NLS and ARMA (Least Regression Analysis) method was operative through econometric views (E-Views) software. The result indicates that income of the consumer has significant and positive effect, while price of goods has significantly negative effect on the consumer welfare and utility in case of Pakistan. Further, the long run association of consumption, income and consumer welfare was found. This study recommends that incremental efforts are required by the government to bring stability in the prices of goods, policies must aim and focus on provision of employment and income generating activities, control of income inequality and minimize income class disparities to maximization welfare of the individuals living in different regions and in societies of Pakistan.

Being affected by a variety of factors, power-generation structure plays an essential role in a high-quality and sustainable development. The focus of this paper is to evaluate the influence of electricity price on it. First, we provide a microeconomic framework to understand the impact mechanism. We discuss two effects through which price level can affect power generation, and then the power-generation structure. After that, an empirical test is conducted using provincial panel data, and the results of it are robust. We also test the above-mentioned mechanism empirically. There are two main conclusions. First, the electricity price has a positive effect on the share of thermal power in electricity generation. Second, the mechanism test shows that an increase of electricity price can not only improve efficiency of power plants but also propel firms to invest in more renewable energy plants.

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the demand for electrical energy in households in the city of Bengkulu. With the dependent variable (Y) the demand for electrical energy and the independent variable (X) Income, electricity price/tariff, number of family members. In this study using primary data with a total sample of 100 households in the city of Bengkulu. The data analysis method used is multiple linear regression.  From the analysis that has been done the results show that the income variable (X1) has a significant and positive effect on the demand for electricity, electricity prices/tariffs (X2) have a significant and negative effect on the demand for electrical energy and the number of family members (X3) has a significant and positive effect on demand for electrical energy. Keywords: Demand for electrical energy, Electricity price/tariff ,Income, Number of family members.

While the use of vinegar to fi ght against infections and other crucial conditions dates back to Hippocrates, recent research has found that vinegar consumption has a positive effect on biomarkers for diabetes, cancer, and heart diseases. Different types of vinegar have been used in the world during different time periods. Vinegar is produced by a fermentation process. Foods with a high content of carbohydrates are a good source of vinegar. Review of the results of different studies performed on vinegar components reveals that the daily use of these components has a healthy impact on the physiological and chemical structure of the human body. During the era of Hippocrates, people used vinegar as a medicine to treat wounds, which means that vinegar is one of the ancient foods used as folk medicine. The purpose of the current review paper is to provide a detailed summary of the outcome of previous studies emphasizing the role of vinegar in treatment of different diseases both in acute and chronic conditions, its in vivo mechanism and the active role of different bacteria.

This research is new in its attempt to take future time orientation, morningness orientation, and prospective memory as measures of mental prospection, and to examine a three-factor model that assumes working memory, mental prospection, and cognitive insight are independent but related higher-order cognitive constructs by using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The three-factor model produced a good fit to the data. An alternative one-factor model was tested and rejected. The results suggest that working memory and cognitive insight are distinguishable, related constructs, and that both are distinct from, but negatively associated with, mental prospection. In addition, structural equation modeling (SEM) showed that working memory had a strong positive effect on cognitive insight and a moderate negative effect on mental prospection.

Abstract. This study uses implicit voice theory to examine the influence of employees’ critical thinking and leaders’ inspirational motivation on employees’ voice behavior via voice efficacy. The results of a pretest of 302 employees using critical thinking questionnaires and a field study of 273 dyads of supervisors and their subordinates revealed that both employees’ critical thinking and leaders’ inspirational motivation had a positive effect on employees’ voice and that voice efficacy mediates the relationships among employees’ critical thinking, leaders’ inspirational motivation, and employees’ voice. Implications for research and practice are discussed.
