Abstract Objective – This study has the objective of establishing whether the undergraduate students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Jos, have access to and use Internet facilities in the University library. Methods – A survey research design was adopted for this study and questionnaires were used in gathering data. Statistical methods used in the analysis include percentages, frequencies, and Chi-Square test for measuring the association of library visit and use of the Internet. Results – The analysis of the data and findings indicated that there is Internet connectivity in the library. The findings also revealed that few students (15.5%) use the computer and the Internet on a daily basis. The problems of slow Internet connection at peak periods and unsteady power supply were clearly identified. Furthermore, the analysis revealed that there is no association between the students’ library visits and their use of the Internet for most academic purposes, except for downloading articles. Conclusion – The presence of Internet connectivity in the library, does not translate to meaningful academic behaviour among the students. Therefore, sensitising and training of the students on Internet usage were recommended for better academic performance and life-long learning.

The study surveyed the use of Internet among undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. 240 questionnaires were distributed using a stratified sampling method. A total of 190 questionnaires were returned and all were usable. The access point for using Internet among the undergraduates was mostly the computer center of Dhaka University. Findings revealed that a high percentage of the Internet was used among the undergraduates. Some problems they face in their use of the Internet include slow speed of the connection, limited number of PCs and other related issues of using Internet. The study recommends that the university and arts faculty should provide more access points for the students. Departmental computer labs, Internet facilities and incorporating ICT courses in the academic syllabi should be started to those departments where it is needed to overcome the problems. Moreover, modern net connection technologies need to be used and training program needs to be started for the undergraduates.

Education aims at the balanced personality growth of individuals and offers both curricular and co-curricular activities to realize this goal. Talking about the importance of co-curricular activities in mind, the study investigated the function of co-curricular activities in leadership skills' growth among university students. The research aimed to figure out co-curricular activities among university students, examine the connection between co-curricular activities and students' leadership skills' growth, and establish techniques for co-curricular activities at the university levels. The sample of the research was all 4523 undergraduate students from 06 faculties of the University of Swat. The researchers randomly selected 60 participants for the analysis, created a questionnaire, and validated it by piloting data collection. The data were obtained with self-administered questionnaires and evaluated with frequencies, percentages, and Chi-square test of significance. The study established the strategies of giving equal importance to co-curricular activities, motivation of students for involvement in co-curricular activities, proper scheduling for co-curricular activities, allocation of sufficient financial resources, provision of playgrounds, gymnasiums for arranging indoor, outdoor games and literary activities, and reinforcement of students' contribution in co-curricular activities with a distribution of prizes.

New technologies have transformed higher education whose application has implied changes at all levels. These changes have been assimilated by the university community in various ways. Subtle differences among university students have emerged; these differences determine that the resources the network offers have been used in different ways, thus creating gaps in the university population. This study seeks to determine the level of incidence of the variable of university students’ incomes on the uses and intensity of use of the Internet tools and resources. Students were classified using factor analysis complemented through cluster analysis in order to obtain user profiles; these profiles were verified by means of discriminant analysis. Finally, chi-square was applied to determine the relationship between income level and user profiles. As a result, three profiles were identified with different levels of use and intensity of use of the Internet tools and resources, and statistically the incidence of income in the creation of those profiles was proved. To conclude, we can say that the income level falls mainly on the variables that define the access possibilities; gender has a special behavior; however, since the profile of the highest level has a double proportion for men, though women have better performance in general terms.Las tecnologías han transformado la educación superior impulsando cambios que han sido asimilados por la comunidad universitaria de distintas maneras. Como consecuencia, los estudiantes han presentado diversas formas y niveles de aprovechamiento de los recursos que nos ofrece Internet, delineándose brechas sutiles en la población universitaria. En este estudio se puntualizan algunas características de estas brechas; concretamente se analiza la incidencia de la variable ingresos del estudiante sobre los usos e intensidad de uso de las herramientas y recursos de Internet. Para lograrlo se clasificó a los estudiantes aplicando análisis factorial, complementado por análisis clúster para obtener perfiles de usuarios; estos perfiles se contrastaron con análisis discriminante y, finalmente, se aplicó chicuadrado para verificar la relación entre el nivel de ingresos y los perfiles de usuarios. Se determinaron tres perfiles con distintos niveles de las herramientas y recursos de Internet; y se comprobó estadísticamente la incidencia del nivel de ingresos en la conformación de estos perfiles. Se concluye que el nivel de ingreso incide mayormente en las variables que definen las posibilidades de acceso; el género tiene un comportamiento especial, puesto que, si bien el perfil más alto tiene el doble de proporción de hombres, las mujeres tienen un mejor desempeño en general.

BACKGROUND Today, the Internet may be a promising tool for interventions for pregnant women. However, these kinds of tools are only helpful if users are ready to use them. OBJECTIVE The present study was conducted with the aim of readiness assessment of pregnant women to use the Internet to access health information about pregnancy and childbirth. METHODS This study was carried out on a sample of 384 pregnant women. Data were collected using a valid and reliable questionnaire. The first section of this questionnaire collected demographic characteristics of the participants. The second part of the questionnaire contains 27 questions covering the following components: infrastructure readiness (6 questions); affordability readiness (3 questions); and skill readiness (12 questions). Data were analyzed with SPSS 19.0 using descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and T-test. RESULTS This study was carried out on a sample of 384 pregnant women. Management of academic activities at Mahendradata University is still using manually ways, which means that it has not used an integrated information system yet, for the example the process of registering new students, arranging lecture schedules, filling in student KRS, managing lecture attendance, and managing student grades. Nowadays cultural changes have been marked by the increasingly rapid use of the internet. The internet as an information resources for its existence has now become a necessity. The benefits of the internet are quite large, especially in the world of business, entertainment and education. This system is designed to assist academic processes at the University of Mahendradata. The academic processes that have been analyzed and applied in this developed system are the process of preparing schedules, plotting teaching lecturers, printing KRS, printing lecture attendance, presenting inputs, filling in grades, and printing KHS. And the University can immediately develop a new system in order to work optimally. System design that has been used in developing this system uses the SDLC method, the waterfall method. The implementation of the system uses the PHP programming language Codegniter and MySQL database. The results of this study are in the form of an academic system design at the University of Mahendradata. This developed system is aim to assist the academic processes at the University of Mahendradata

This study analyzes the impact of watching television sports channels on the promotion of sports activities among the students of the University of Sargodha. The aim of the study is to explore the impact of sports channels on students. Previous researches are used to set up the concepts of the present study. In this research, a survey technique is used to collect the data. The population of the study consists of male and female students of the University of Sargodha. In this research, the Stratified and Purposive sampling technique is used, through which specification characteristics of the respondent's demographics. The study explores the impact of sports channels in the view of Uses and Gratification Theory. The data for this study is collected through the use of a well-designed questionnaire. Chi-square test and other statistical tests like ANOVA and t-Test are applied to test the hypothesis. The finding shows that more the exposure to TV sports channels more the information level of students of the University of Sargodha.

The Internet is one technology that has impacted tremendously on the sociological fabric of man. In the field of education, it serves as a library of knowledge from where virtually all information could be obtained. Knowledge of how well higher institution students use the Internet for learning may enable their lecturers take appropriate decisions on their instructional practices. In this study, data was obtained from four 435 purposively selected students in the Faculties of Science of six higher institutions in Osun State, Nigeria using a researcher-designed questionnaire. The results show that 63.8% of the students indicated they used the Internet for learning. It was found out that there was no significant difference between male and female students' use of the Internet for learning and there was no significant difference in the students' use of Internet for learning in the private and public higher institutions in the State. However, there was significant difference among the students in their use of the Internet for learning with the University students showing the highest degree of positive response of use followed by the students of the College of Education and then the students of the Polytechnics. It is recommended among others that stakeholders in higher education in Osun State should endeavour to provide modern ICT/Internet facilities in all the higher institutions in Osun State so as to enable students have unlimited Internet access.

 This study presents an attitude of female students studying B.Ed. third year towards physical education and sports within Kathmandu valley. Initially, it was hypothesized that there is no significance difference in attitude of physical education and sports among female students of different campuses. From these 6 campuses, 184 female students were randomly selected. A five-point Likert-type scale was applied for data collection from the selected students who studied in B.Ed. third year. Altogether five opinion statements were used for data collection. It was found that all respondents showed positive attitudes towards physical education and sports. In order to test whether there is significant interdependence in score among the respondents in different perspectives. The chi-square test score was applied as statistical test at the 0.05 level of significance. The chi-test under contingency table: independent of opinion among the respondent, if (χ2>α=0.05 in different degree of freedom) and independent if (χ2≤ α=0.05 in different degree of freedom). For the measurement of attitude for physical education and sports,it has enough evidence in the data to accept alternatives hypothesis; there is relation or interdependence of attitude towards physical education and sports among the respondents. Because, the score is very high among the response of respondent. The study suggests that the university teacher must be accountable to construct professional environment.

Undergraduate students with disabilities represent an important population on college campuses. Yet the incidence of sexual violence and disclosing/reporting of sexual violence among this population is understudied. This exploratory and largely descriptive study uses an intersectional framework to understand the sexual victimization of undergraduate students with disabilities at a large Mid-Atlantic academic institution. The sample consisted of students who completed a sexual violence module ( N = 2,929) as part of a larger campus climate survey. Students with disabilities comprised a smaller sample within this group ( n = 177) and descriptive and chi-square results from both groups of students are reported. Students with disabilities had a statistically significant higher likelihood of sexual violence victimization before coming to campus and while at the university, with much higher rates for precollege victimization than students with no disabilities. Disclosure rates were not different for students across the two groups, though students with disabilities were more likely to utilize formal sources of support, such as campus Title IX offices and mental health services. This study shows support for a strengths-based approach that recognizes that students with disabilities may be more likely to reach out to campus resources. The findings of the study also underscore the need for culturally relevant victim services for students with disabilities. An evaluation of the culture of a university and its environment of openness, sharing, community, and protection (or lack thereof) can be a key point for future approaches to sexual violence on campus.

Academic misconduct in many educational institutions in the Middle East is an inherent problem. This has been particularly true amongst the university student population. The proliferation of the Internet and the ownership of mobile and electronic devices, have, in part, witnessed rates of cheating, plagiarism and academic misconduct cases steadily increase across higher education contexts. Though the growth of the Internet as an information source and gateway to knowledge has increased substantially in recent years, it has, however, opened up a plethora of varying forms and rates of academic dishonesty. This study was conducted through an online Likert scale questionnaire. Its purpose was to investigate first year male undergraduate students’ attitudes, experiences and perceptions towards plagiarism and cheating in a university located in Saudi Arabia. The study aimed at addressing themes in relation to the meaning, forms, source, frequency and reasons of cheating and plagiarism. The study indicates that cheating and plagiarism is common among students, while a need to address student awareness and clarify student expectations towards academic integrity was also identified. The study also proposes several recommendations to alleviate the levels of academic misconduct, be it cheating in exams or plagiarising content, in the Saudi university context.
