Renewable resources are complementary in nature so the weaknesses of one can be overcome with the strength of other. The factors such as climate condition and weather are unpredictable, more for wind than compared to solar sources. The complementary nature of wind and solar sources motivates us to hybrid wind-solar power plant concept. The major problems like environment hazards, depletion of fossil fuels can be overcome by using hybrid power station. With the help of grid interconnection, the energy can be supplied to the remote rural areas and the emission of carbon and other harmful gases can be reduced up to 80% to 90%. This paper focuses on the optimal combination of renewable energy resources that could electrify the area under study. This paper also highlights the village details, energy resources available in region under study and the predicted load assessment. The various power output equations of wind power and solar power has also been discussed. The overview of the Homer software that was used for simulation purposes has also been discussed in this work.

Problems associated with non-sustainable use of fossil fuels have led to increased awareness and widespread research into the accessibility of new and renewable energy resources. As the renewable energy, biogas should be widely used for its advantages in environmental friendly, security and efficiency. But factors in policy and environment made the utilization of biogas hard to achieve in cold areas. This article focus on the problem, make conclusions and give advices based on the analysis of the example of China’s rural areas in the north. The exact information was obtained via questionnaire survey, aiming at promoting the utilization of biogas in cold areas.

It is very much true that people living in most of the rural areas depend on renewable energy resources for their daily domestic requirements. They either get an interrupted power supply from the traditional commercial electric supply or in some cases where the people living in a remote location may not get the traditional supply due to the distance. The people in the rural area already started using renewable energy resources for their daily needs. But it is seen that most of the rural area are potential to use many forms of renewable energy resources. There is a major requirement in combining more than one form of such energy to fulfill the needs. This paper explains the different methods of production of energy using the renewable resource in the rural area and a model to combine them to use the energy efficiently. This model suggests the controller to be designed which will use the energy produced from renewable energy efficiently. This controller has a responsibility to avoid the energy from the traditional method as long as there is a supply of energy from renewable resources. The controller uses the traditional energy only when there is no alternative energy supply from renewable energy.

Increasing demand for energy, limited resources of fossil fuel, as well as pollution of the environment and changes of the global climate, have raised more interest in renewable resources. Support to the use of renewable resources has become a very important part of the European Union’s policy. The use of reeds like renewable energy resources allows saving fossil fuels. This paper presents the findings on the reed resources in lakes of Latgale (region in Latvia). The investigation of reed resources shows that the resources in the region are situated in a very uneven way. The greatest amount of reed resources is concentrated in the biggest lake in Latvia - Lubana Lake as well as near it. Using direct measurement methods and metering in the distance, it was stated that the total reed resources of Lubana Lake are 8,203? 2,999 tons, occupy 882 hectares and are situated in 429 reed blocks. Summary resources of Latgale region are 19,862? 7,409 tons. The amount of heat that can be obtained using reed resources of Latgale region is equivalent to 10,543 tons of natural gas or 8,802 tons of petroleum, or 13,092- 21,348 tons of coal (it depends on the heating of coal), or 7,675 tons of fuel, or 8,712 – 12,199 tons of oil (depends on the heating of oil).

India is facing an acute energy scarcity which is hampering its industrial growth and economic progress. Setting up of new power plants is inevitably dependent on import of highly volatile fossil fuels. Thus, it is essential to tackle the energy crisis through judicious utilization of abundant the renewable energy resources, such as Biomass Energy solar Energy, Wind Energy and Geothermal Energy. Apart from augmenting the energy supply, renewable resources will help India in mitigating climate change. India is heavily dependent on fossil fuels for its energy needs. Most of the power generation is carried out by coal and mineral oil-based power plants which contribute heavily to greenhouse gases emission. Solar Power a clean renewable resource with zero emission, has got tremendous potential of energy which can be harnessed using a variety of devices.

In Bangladesh, annual per capita energy consumption is approximately 200 KgOE3, which is among the lowest in the world. Presently, 70% of the population does not have access to electricity in Bangladesh (GoB, 2004). The average system loss is 20.97% (GoB, 2006). The demand for power is estimated to increase 300 MW annually (GoB, 1996a). In contrast, concerns have been raised about the conventional energy production from fossil fuels that significantly contributes to environmental degradation at the local, regional and global levels. This situation calls for adoption of sustainable energy strategies that permeate every level of the economy and can provide rural dwellers with the services that they want and need. With this backdrop, Bangladesh has been experiencing a gradual shift towards exploring renewable energy resources as a means to fuel rural development in the off-grid areas. The country is endowed with abundant renewable energy resources. The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), with its mandate for sustainable rural development has embarked on a program for demonstration and transfer of renewable energy technologies in the off-grid rural areas. The project “Sustainable Rural Energy (SRE)‘ has been conceived within the overall framework of ‘Sustainable Environment Management Programme (SEMP)’ with financial support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This project has already completed a number of renewable energy installations demonstrating diversified community applications of these technologies for livelihood and socio-economic improvement of the people living in the remote off-grid villages. The lessons learned from these demonstration plants reveal that, with careful forward planning, renewable energy can provide far-reaching economic and social benefits to people living in remote rural areas in Bangladesh. The private sectors and NGOs (Non-government organizations) have started to take part in the process of renewable energy development with great promise and enthusiasm. However, the process encounters policy, institutional and technological barriers, which are critical for continued development in this sector.

Along with the current processes of restructuring of Energy power system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, liberalization of the electricity market, and modernization of the existing power plants, Bosnia and Herzegovina must turn to the utilization of renewable resources in reason able dynamics as well. Respecting this policy, the initial Valuation of the potential of renewable erg resources in Bosnia and Herzegovina is per formed. The methodology of evaluation of wind energy utilization is presented in this paper, as well as some other aspects of utilization of the renewable energy resources in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Implementation of selected projects should improve sustainability of energy power production in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by reducing the total emission of carbon dioxide originated from energy power system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This article describes the limitations and the environmental effects of fossil fuels have provided the drive to create replacement strategies, such as the utilization of renewable energy resources. Solar energy and related technologies are also among fast-growing renewable resources and technologies. Despite different research on solar technologies, an extensive research on the effects of different parts of the collector, such as an absorber, glass cover, and the air gap has not conducted in the warm climate in the Middle East. This article focuses on an unsteady and three-dimensional simulation of a flat plate solar collector considering Discrete Transfer Radiation Model (DTRM). The parameters effecting on efficiency of collector such as the absorber material, tilt angle of the collector and effect of double glazing are analyzed. The result of the numerical analysis shows parameters effecting on collector efficiency, and double-glazed glass.

Due to depletion of fossil fuels, concerns about energy security and global warming make renewable energy resources more attractive. In this regard, using biodiesel seems to be a possible and feasible source of energy for transportation. This paper presents an investigation of the performance and emission characteristics of CI engine using 10% blend of rice bran oil as fuel and ceramic oxide coated piston.

Photovoltaics (PV-also called solar photovoltaic devices) are used to harness the power of the sun via the electronic process that occurs within semiconductor cells. The solar energy is absorbed by the cells, which causes the electrons to break away from their atoms, allowing them to flow within the material to produce electricity. This electricity will become the renewable energy for Kentucky, as the generation of coal will but come to a stop within the near future. Like Denmark who is running on 100% renewable generation we must stride to become fully operational on solar. In the present work, we systematically studied about renewable energy resources, in particular, solar energy for the application of photovoltaic panels in Eastern Kentucky. By analyzing data from our PV cells at Morehead State University designed to follow the direction of the sun for optimized output and by incorporating MPPT charge controllers, we have constructed a maximum power algorithm that performs best for the location. Utilizing these, measurements of daily electricity production in comparison to the average power needed for household use has validated our research. With the advancements in solar cell technology what was once impossible is now reality, as solar power can easily power this region based on our data. Knowing this, being a prime location we can now push to enable the advancement of renewable energy production and become less dependent on fossil fuels, thus creating an infrastructure that will run off solar power.

With rising the environmental issues regarding the fossil fuels, the renewable energy resources (RES) could be as interesting scheme in supply side for micro grids. The aim of this paper is to investigate the feasibility of photovoltaic (PV) system in Iran both in grid-connected and island mode. The case study is a residential house in the city of Amol. The software of HOMER (Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Energy Resources) is used for analyzing the data for finding the optimal design among the various solutions which takes in to account electrical and economic assessment factors. In the section of grid-connection mode, two different simulation methods namely HOMER optimizer mode and optimal sizing design mode is used to better understand the grid participation with PV in supplying the power for load demand. Finally, the optimal and affordable design for selected region is grid-connected PV system which alleviate the energy need from grid.
