The chapter reviews the development and sustainability of learning societies, and employs an examination of literature to identify the connections that may assist in the-improvement of the 21st century (21st century) workforce. To increase their learning, it is imperative to create a place that embeds the culture, expectations, and appropriate learning behaviors within the environment. The tools are about the cultivation of connections and communities, not solely based on 21st century technology. This case study explored three key concepts: community connection, policy connection, and netizens’ connection.

Computational thinking (CT) is increasingly emerging as a thinking skill to support the development of 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, or technology literacy, essential for students to become successful in an increasingly complex society. Educators are always looking for new strategies for developing these skills in students. Three-dimensional (3D) printing and scanning technologies are sufficiently mature and economically accessible to be used at the school level. By using 3D technologies, students explore, invent, discover, and engage in real problems and situations. This study explores the use of 3D printing technologies in a secondary school in Athens over the course of two school years. The study investigates if 3D technologies can support the development of CT skills in students.

This chapter demonstrates some of the educational merits of blogs; including how blogs can be integrated in teacher education and proposing a methodology for evaluating blogs to meet the goals of reflection and technology literacy in teacher education. An undergraduate-level course was integrated with blog technology to help readers better understand the inquiry-oriented nature of the blog medium. This exemplar course modeled Web 2.0 technology to teacher educators and pre-service teachers who intend to integrate the technology into their future teaching. Surveys and interviews were used to investigate participant attitude toward blogs. The researcher proposes Zeichner and Liston’s (1987) Reflective Index as a potential framework for evaluating the quality of reflection in blogs. It is expected that this instructional model of blogs will help educators, in particular teacher educators and instructional designers, to design courses to more effectively meet the goals of higher-order thinking required in 21st century teacher education.
