Visualizing Energy and Environment Research Productivity in Australia: A Scientometric Profile

The present study conducted over the period of 1991-2014, selected to ascertain research trends, yielded a total of 2802 papers published in the wide-ranging field of energy and environment in Australia. Of the 2802 publications, 83.4% were journal articles and 99.7% were the English language. The result shows that a steady increase in Australia’s literature output from 21 papers to 308 papers in November 2015 (1466% increase); in Environmental Sciences Ecology (10.547%) is in the 4th rank and Energy Fuels (8.394%) is in the 6th of world literature during the study period. According to Australian research, the output of Environmental Sciences Ecology (13.807%) account for the largest increase, and it has been occupied in the first place and Energy Fuels (6.208%) is in the 6th place during the present study. The three most productive journals with huge citations were ‘Ecological Applications’ (= 4, 2721 citations), ‘Astrophysical Journal’ (= 44, 1614 citations), and ‘Monthly Notes of the Royal Astronomical Society’ (= 38, 1389 citations).

Dementia is a condition caused by and associated with separate physical changes in the brain. The signs and symptoms of dementia are very similar across the diverse types, and it is difficult to diagnose the category by behavioral symptoms alone. Diagnostic criteria have relied on a constellation of signs and symptoms, but it is critical to understand the neuroanatomical differences among the dementias for a more precise diagnosis and subsequent management. With this regard, this review aims to explore the neuroanatomical aspects of dementia to better understand the nature of distinctive subtypes, signs, and symptoms. This is a review of English language literature published from 1996 to the present day of peer-reviewed academic and medical journal articles that report on older people with dementia. This review examines typical neuroanatomical aspects of dementia and reinforces the importance of a thorough understanding of the neuroanatomical characteristics of the different types of dementia and the differential diagnosis of them.

The Impact of Anglicizing Former German-Language Psychology Journals on Authorship and Citation Frequencies

Exemplary for other than English-language psychology journals, the impact of recent Anglicization of five former German-language psychology journals on (1) authorship (nationality, i.e., native language, and number of authors, i.e., single or multiple authorships), (2) formal characteristics of the journal (number of articles per volume and length of articles), and (3) number of citations of the articles in other journal articles, the language of the citing publications, and the impact factors (IF) is analyzed. Scientometric data on these variables are gathered for all articles published in the four years before anglicizing and in the four years after anglicizing the same journal. Results reveal rather quick changes: Citations per year since original articles’ publication increase significantly, and the IF of the journals go up markedly. Frequencies of citing in German-language journals decrease, citing in English-language journals increase significantly after the Anglicization of former German-language psychology journals, and there is a general trend of increasing citations in other languages as well. Side effects of anglicizing former German-language psychology journals include the publication of shorter papers, their availability to a more international authorship, and a slight, but significant increase in multiple authorships.

The publication reviewed is number 9 in the series" Applied Statistics and Econometrics" edited by Gerhard Tintner, Pierre Desire Truonet, and Heinrich Strecker. The purpose of the series is to publish papers " too long for ordinary journal articles, but not long enough for books . ... . . Upon acceptance, speedy publication can be promised". The abstracts in English, French, and German, usual in this series, are missing from the copy reviewed. The book consists of ten chapters: sampling theory; multi -stage sampling and other fundamental problems; optimum stratification; variances; sampling with replacement and other theoretical issues; experimental design; information theory; a posteriori raising factors ; order statistics; Bayesian methods. Such an ambitious content within 130 pages requires parsimonious presentation. One chapter has been squeezed into hardly more than four pages. The chapter on a posteriori raising factors will be useful in developing countries and particularly when samples do not work out as designed. It will also be refreshing to those limited to the literature in the English language.

AbstractThe aim of this article is to determine the current state of impact of various forms of intangible assets on the internationalization process. For the purpose of the paper meta-analysis was adopted as a method of the study. English-language peer-reviewed journal articles were analyzed only with the help of: EBSCOhost, ScienceDirect, Emerald, JSTOR, ProQuest and Wiley Online databases. The search was aimed at newest papers (after 2012), however some older articles (with regard to their value) were included in the analysis as well. Based on the conducted analysis, there was observed a significant and positive link between the level of employee education and internationalization probability and extent. The effect of the wages on internationalization is stage dependent. Under certain assumptions there is a positive and strong relationship between R&D intensity and internationalization. Advertising spending do not foster the process of internationalization. The practical contribution of this research is twofold. First, it provides valuable insight for practitioners which intangible assets and how foster various modes of the internationalization process. Second, it describes upon which conditions the interrelation between firm intangible assets and internationalization is significant and positive.

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to draw a network among the keywords used in public library studies in the LIS field in Korea using a social network analysis method. To achieve the purpose, this study (i) analyses the keywords used in LIS peer-reviewed journal articles on the subject of public libraries, (ii) finds the important keywords of public library studies based on network perspectives, and (iii) compares the keyword network of public library studies for the most recent five years with the keyword network of public library studies of different time periods. Through a keywords analysis of public library studies, the following research trends have been found: (a) Korean public library studies have mainly focused on management issues; (b) there has been much discussion about library cooperation between public libraries and other kinds of libraries; (c) the subjects of research related to evaluation have been diversified as a result of influence from the fields of management and business; (d) scholars became interested in special users; (e) many studies paid attention to human resources issues in public libraries; (f) there have been many studies that are focused on small libraries; and (g) considerable research has been related to lifelong education, in particular, during 2001–2009. In addition, through comparison of the keyword network of public library studies for the most recent five years and the keyword network of public library studies for different time periods, the researcher finds that (i) keywords have both similarities and differences, and (ii) socio-environmental factors influence the research trends.
