Nowadays gynecologists try to find less traumatic and more effective variants of surgical treatment. Minilaparoscopic surgery is a resultant achievement of developments in gynecology since the beginning of the 20th century. It is a novel real-time surgical method. During the last decade the authors have accomplished 270 minilaparoscopic operations. The present paper sums up our experience in minilaparoscopic operations involving the uterus, Fallopian tubes, ovaries (salpingolysis, decortication, endometriosis sites excision, gonadectomy, etc.). The advantages of this kind of surgical operation especially promising in infantile gynecology are disclosed. Among the advantages of minilaparoscopic approach in infantile gynecology the authors emphasize the decrease of preoperational period, optimization of diagnostics during the operation, sparing techniques, reduction of post-operational complications. The aforementioned features of laparoscopic surgery suggest breakthroughs in normalizing nature of treatment in gynecology improving reproductive well-being of females and reproductive potential of girls. As a result we expect better demographic and reproductive prospects in future.

The pharyngeal tonsil is a lymphatic tissue mass located in the roof of the nasopharynx. The function of the pharyngeal tonsil is to prevent infections with the help of antibodies. Chronic inflammation and allergies lead to hyperplasia of the adenoids that is found almost exclusively in children. The treatment of choice is surgical treatment; conservative treatment is only indicated preoperatively or if surgery is contraindicated. In this paper, we will present a new surgical method for adenoidectomy performed trans-orally with coblation, under endoscopic control.

With the uprising of Internet of Things (IoT) networks, new applications have taken advantage of this new concept. Having all devices and all people connected 24/7 have several advantages in a variated amount of disciplines. One of them is medicine and the e-health concept. The possibility of having a real time lecture of the vital signs of people can prevent a live threat situation. This paper describes the realization of a device capable of measuring the heart rate of a person and checking for abnormalities that may negatively affect the patient’s well-being. This project will make use of electronic devices known as microcontrollers, specifically from the Arduino family, enabling us to capture data, and, with the help of a network card and a RJ-45 cable, transfer it to a PC and visualize the heart rate in real time over its assigned IP address.

The last part of 20th century saw the collapse of a dramatic number of dictatorships. Rather than democracy, several of these transitions brought regimes where limited political competition coexists with persistently authoritarian practices. The diffusion of this form of authoritarianism in the developing world raises several questions about its broader consequences. Most importantly, does political change short of democratization matter for ordinary citizens? Recent research demonstrates that nominally democratic institutions, even in the absence of people empowerment, can result in better living conditions. The paper adds to this debate by formulating and testing new hypotheses. I compare electoral authoritarianism with democracy and full dictatorship, including specific subtypes of the latter, and focus on both policy outputs and outcomes.

In this article, the author discusses the subject of pro-peace education with the use of poetry, and its influence on the mental well-being of children. She indicates Julian Tuwim as one of the Polish trailblazers of the 20th-century trend of mindfulness, which instructs how to establish a harmonious relationship with oneself and the environment. She discusses studies which focus on the methods used when working during school lessons of the Polish language; methods which employ mindful poetry. The author argues that there exists a relationship between internal equanimity and global peace.

1. The reported 22 cases of unilobar obstructive emphysema in infancy are reviewed. Eighteen of these cases were successfully treated by lobectomy or segmental resection. No cause of the obstruction was found in over 50% of the cases reported. 2. Two cases of unilobar obstructive emphysema in the newborn are presented. These patients were successfully treated by selectively decompressing the emphysematous lobe. 3. The non-surgical method of treatment is advocated in the newborn when lobar emphysema is newly established and reversible. It may be of value when surgery is indicated to improve the patient who is a poor risk. 4. The mechanism, by which selective decompression alleviates the partially obstructed bronchus, is open to conjecture. However, we postulate that the bronchus, is kinked by an overdistended emphysematous lobe and that retained viscid secretions augment the bronchial obstruction in the new born.

The issues of therapeutic or surgical treatment of chronic choleciscitis, the choice of the most effective therapeutic and surgical method of treatment cannot be considered finally resolved. On the contrary, all these questions are still extremely relevant and topical for the therapist and surgeon and do not leave the pages of the Russian and foreign medical press. And it is not surprising, as our research methods have improved, the boundaries of recognition of these diseases have expanded significantly, and we are convinced that chronic cholecystitis is one of the most common diseases.

Abstract We study the long-run persistence of relative economic well-being under adverse government policies using a combination of historical and contemporaneous data from Kyrgyzstan. After controlling for unobservable local effects, the economic well-being of Kyrgyz households in the 2010s correlates with the early 20th-century average wealth of their tribes. Inequality at the tribe level in the 2010s correlates with wealth inequality in the early 20th century. The likely channels of persistence are the inter-generational transmission of human capital, relative status, political power, and cultural traits. Transmission of material wealth, differences in natural endowments, or geographic sorting cannot explain persistence.
