The general education program designing and licensing trends in Latvia in the period from 2010 to 2014 are analyzed in the article. Based on the general education program licensing data, it found that there isn’t a trend to license author’s program in primary education, while the secondary level of education author's programs are designed and licensed more often. The fact that primary education is more licensed programs in mathematics, science and technology, but in general secondary education – the humanitarian and social direction of the program suggest a possible gap in primary and secondary education. At the same time it found that a quarter of all licensed educational programs is not implemented, which could be result of socio-economic and political change in society.

IN ORDER FOR THE INCLUSION OF STUDENTS WITH MILD DISABILITIES TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL, IT IS IMPORTANT TO CAREFULLY CONSIDER THE DEMANDS AND EXPECTATIONS OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS ON BOTH STUDENTS AND FACULTY. THIS ARTICLE PRESENTS TWO CASE EXAMPLES OF SCHOOLS THAT HAVE ATTEMPTED TO SUCCESSFULLY INCLUDE STUDENTS WITH MILD DISABILITIES THROUGHOUT THE GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM. IN EACH INSTANCE, IT WAS LEARNED THAT THE PROCESS OF BUILDING AN ENVIRONMENT THAT IS CONDUCIVE TO INCLUSION TAKES CONSIDERABLE TIME AND A BROAD BASE OF FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT AND COMMITMENT. ADDITIONALLY, EACH EXAMPLE CLEARLY ILLUSTRATES NEED FOR “SUPPORTED INCLUSION” AND NOT MERELY“ INCLUSION” FOR AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM THAT RESULTS IN MEANINGFUL STUDENT OUTCOMES.

The present study is a review of 36 empirical studies in Primary and Secondary Education, in Greece and internationally and aims at investigating: a) the benefits of student self-assessment, b) the contribution of self-assessment to the development of students’ skills to accurately self-assess. Moreover, this study presents the factors that affect student self-assessment ability. According to the main findings, self-assessment has been investigated more in Secondary Education. Furthermore, self-assessment has positive effects mainly on performance and learning in both secondary and primary students. Self-assessment ability and the factors that influence this ability have mainly investigated on Secondary Education with clearer and more positive findings, whereas there is a lack of research in Primary Education. In Greece, it was found only one study in Secondary Education that examines the issue of self-assessment ability with positive conclusions for students. Factors that contribute to the accuracy of student self-assessment in Secondary Education are the use of a video-based modeling examples, the observation of a human model engaging in self-assessment by students, the use of scripts and the training of students in self- and peer-assessment, whereas in Primary Education the social status, training and guidance in self-assessment and the entrance examinations affect self-assessment ability.

Leadership is a field studied considerably since ancient years. Leadership scholars concentrate on the innate traits that born leaders have, while others focus on the traits attained throughout a person's life. Another common notion is that mainly individuals in higher positions in organizations practice leadership. Although students of leadership mainly study it during their university years, the plethora of leadership educational programs often teach on a theoretical basis leading to partial application to real-world cases. Recent research has surfaced the need to enrich primary and secondary education and curricula with instructional methodologies, which instill leadership qualities to students, like ethos, empathy, and compassion, while providing students with skills and capabilities essential to develop effective leaders of tomorrow. Additionally, educating young students to become accountable, compassionate, and kind while enriching their learning with service mindedness and the cultivation of belonging, collaboration, and interaction builds character and leadership qualities.

This article provides an overview of school wastage, namely repetition and dropout in primary and secondary schools in Morocco. It describes how this phenomenon has progressed since school was implemented in the 1960s. It shows that the fundamental principles of the education system established in the aftermath of Morocco’s independence in 1956 did not succeed in providing a clear, stable education program. The article concludes that despite the tremendous efforts made in enrollment, school wastage persists, and the educational system is still trapped in the idealistic principles of the 1960s, causing education to flounder in the dramatic triangle of schooling, generalization, and dropout.
