The model of two types of ambivalence of student’s confidence in the teacher is presented - positive and negative. Integration of psychological parameter ("psychological health" of the subject of the trust) determined by features of a ratio of trust/mistrust and a formalized (construct of the measurement of ambivalence) determined by method of measurement and statistical technology of the analysis of data is the basis for differentiation. In longitudinal analysis and taking into account the contradictoriness of the trust object as the determinant of ambivalence, an empirical verification of the validity of the model was carried out on the sample of students (N = 78) and teachers (N = 4). The statistically significant prevalence of students with a negative ambivalence of confidence in a controversial (liberal) style compared to a consecutive (authoritarian) one is established. A decrease (statistically reliable in the liberal style) of the proportion of such students as the time of interaction with teachers has been increased. The empirical results are interpreted substantively.

Since becoming mandatory in the EU in 1992, the patient information leaflet (PIL) has been the subject of an on-going discussion regarding its ability to provide easily understandable information. This study examines whether the lay-friendliness of Danish PILs has improved from 2000 to 2012 according to the Danish consumers. A reproduction of a questionnaire study from 2000 was carried out. The responses of the 2012 survey were compared to those of the 2000 survey and the analysis showed that Danes are less inclined to read the PIL in 2012 compared to 2000 and that the general interest in PILs has decreased. The number of respondents who deem the PIL easy to read has gone down. According to Danish consumers, the lay-friendliness of PILs has not improved from 2000 to 2012 and a very likely explanation could be that the PIL as a genre has become far too regulated and complex to live up to its original intentions. On the basis of the empirical results the article furthermore offers suggestions for practice changes.

This article considers the subject of interdisciplinary interaction among specialists working in exact and social sciences as a practice of exchanging ideas about social reality; mutual adaptation of these ideas; empirical verification of the universal formal logic rules applied to specific tasks of sociological research. Such formulation of the subject goes beyond the problem of adapting educational programs to “literacy classes” for potential partners. It is maintained that in inter-professional communication it is important to formulate conceptual systems of common use not “in general”, not for all possible cases, but with regard to the problem addressed by consolidated effort. For such conceptual systems we use the term “common language area” according to the ideas of epistemologists (Ilya Kasavin). Elements of these conceptual systems include paradigms, concepts, tools and procedures mobilized for collaborative work. Readers are offered a description of the experience of cooperation between mathematicians and sociologists in 1990 – 2010s in the qualitative analysis of sociological data — which is an area of concern for both sociology and exact methods. To find a cooperative solution, we needed to develop a system of basic propositions regarding the object and purpose of the research; to put together a structure of sociological data suitable for using the proposed formal tool; to carry out empirical verification of the formalized language of logic-mathematical reasoning. This work has made it possible to explicate the opportunities and limitations when it comes to interpreting results. The article draws conclusions about the specifics of communication in a team of specialists, including sociologists and mathematicians, and about the development of a common language area in the field of cooperation that deals with qualitative analysis of sociological data. Our experience of cooperation in using formalized qualitative analysis of sociological data shows that, when it comes to the need to solve a common problem, partner role relations turned out to be the most effective (rather than role pairs such as “teacher-student” or “seller-buyer”).

In faculties of health sciences, almost 30% of nursing students exercise less than once a week. This mixed-method case report presents the 38-month evolution of the physiological and psychological health parameters of a sedentary and physically inactive nursing student. During this period, she first took part in a one-semester institutional physical activity (PA) program that was offered by her university before being selected for participation in the Race Across America (RAAM) with a university relay team. In the four months leading up to the RAAM, she followed a cycling training program. After the RAAM, she was followed-up for the next 28 months. The results showed that each phase of the study had an important impact on the subject and showed that sedentary and physical inactive behaviours are reversible. Institutional PA programs, including training education in addition to concurrent strength and endurance training, can lead to physiological and psychological health improvements. For some individuals, participating in an athletic challenge can improve motivation and long-term adherence to PA participation. An individualised approach should be considered in future interventions that aim to promote PA participation. In the specific context of a university of health sciences, this kind of initiative could positively influence the general population’s health by empowering students to become role models towards PA promotion.

This case report presents the evolution of physiological and psychological health parameters of a former sedentary and physically inactive nursing student during an 18 months period (three academic semesters), during which she first took part to a one-semester institutional physical activity (PA) program offered by her University, before being selected to participate in relay to the Race Across America (RAAM) with a team of the University. The four months before the RAAM, she followed a cycling specific training program. After the RAAM, she was followed-up the next eight months. Results show that each step of the study had an important impact on health parameters of the subject and that sedentary and physical inactive behaviors are not irreversible. Institutional PA program, including training education in addition to concurrent strength and endurance training could lead to physiological and psychological health improvements. Moreover, in some individuals organising a challenge might contribute to improve motivation and long-term adherence to PA participation, while in others this could have the opposite effect. An individualised approach should be considered in future interventions aiming to improve PA promotion. Finally, in the specific context of a University of Health Sciences, this kind of initiative could positively influence the general population’s health, by educating students as actors in PA promotion.

Currently, police work is considered a stressful professional occupation that requires police officers to be able to cope with danger, uncertainty and unpredictability, which, together with other factors, determines the development of emotional burnout syndrome in police officers. The article presents a phenomenological analysis of the scientific positions of domestic and foreign authors, which allowed us to establish the characteristic manifestations of emotional burnout and establish the consistency of views on this phenomenon within the framework of three main directions: individual psychological, socio-psychological and organizational-psychological. The purpose of the study was to update and bring together views on a significant problem, the solution of which provides the subject of the law enforcement sphere with the preservation of working capacity, well-being, and psychological health. As a result of the conducted research, groups of factors of personal, organizational, role and motivational genesis that affect the development of emotional burnout are established. The features of emotional burnout of police officers are revealed, which are manifested in the reduction of the performance of official duties due to irrational or reduced emotional expression, a sense of dissatisfaction with oneself, personal alienation, depression, emotional lability, irritability, neuroticism with a tendency to spontaneous and reactive aggression. The protective and coping behavior of police officers is associated with the predominance of non-constructive coping of the antisocial, passive and manipulative type, as well as the priority use of the "regression"mechanism of psychological protection. On the basis of the conducted research, the directions of psychological prevention of emotional burnout of police officers are determined

The subject of this research is the methods of psychological support of flight activity, which explicate the theory of Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor D. V. Gander on psychological support of flight activity. The author explores such questions as making decisions by pilot as the operator of ergatic system, with emphasis on the psychological aspects of flight activity on modern aircrafts and formation of professional competencies of the pilot. The research methodology is based on the systemic approach and encompasses theoretical-analytical and generalizing methods, longitudinal analysis, collection of empirical data, analysis of pilot activity through studying documentation and expert survey, professiography, and mathematical statistics. The scientific novelty is defined by the developed model of personal potential of the pilot from the perspective of holistic representation on the specificity and dynamics of the development of personal potential. The study of psychological professionally important qualities led to the creation of the factor model of personal potential of the pilot; while qualitative analysis of the acquired data allowed interpreting the content of personal potential from the perspective of systemic approach. Thus, the hypothesis is proven that the success of mastering flight activity depends not so much on the absolute values of the development of professionally important qualities, but on the specifically organized structure of qualities that form personal potential of the pilot. It is also stated that the achievements in flight activity are the most significant indicator of the status of development of personal potential.

This article analyzes the emergence of the phenomenon of suicidal communities in the Russian cyberspace from the perspective of the widespread in modern criminology theory of routine actions. The relevance of the selected topic is substantiated by the fact that despite a variety of studies dedicated to “death groups”, the problems associated with encouraging or assisting suicide using the Internet platforms are not fully covered in the view of criminological science. At the same time, there is urgent need for criminological research of this phenomenon due to the qualitative transformation of criminality – use of the Internet platforms for inflicting harm to human life and health without direct physical and psychological abuse is a distinguishing feature of the modern world. The subject of this research is the key concepts of the theory of routine actions (“motivated criminal”, “potential victim”, “no external control”) applicable to the problem under review. The author explores certain psychological and cultural aspects that characterize the modern younger generation (increased engagement in social media, more tolerant perception). It is concluded that criminalization of relationships developing between people in social media naturally increased criminality due to the emergence of new ways of communication in modern world. The author believes that the effective method to minimize the category of such type of crimes consists in promotion of the state policy aimed at improvement of psychological health of the population.
