We present a study of the negative aspects of the emotional sphere in elderly man: depression and loneliness. Empirical research was carried out in Moscow and Grozny involving elderly people living in families and in geriatric centers (201 subjects), as well as with middle-aged people (132 subjects). We used the following methods: Zung differential diagnosis of depressive states inventory in adaptation by T.I. Balachova and D. Russell and M. Ferguson Loneliness scale (UKL) in adaptation by N.E. Vodopyanova. It is shown that at the present stage of development of society, middle-aged people already have quite high level of depression and pronounced sense of loneliness. We confirmed the hypothesis that the preservation of the negative aspects of the emotional sphere in elderly people is less dependent on the conditions of life at the micro level (family or gerontology center) and more dependent from the living conditions at the macro level (socio-economic situation in the region). In Grozny, a city of more complex socio-economic situation, negative emotional states are more pronounced than in Moscow.

Relevance. The success of treatment of periodontal diseases directly depends on the patient’s response to the therapy, therefore, the characteristics of the person’s personal characteristics can affect both the effectiveness of treatment and the prevention of relapse of the disease.Purpose. To study the features of the internal picture of the disease in the process of complex treatment of adult patients suffering from chronic generalized periodontitis.Materials and methods. The generally accepted comprehensive treatment of chronic generalized periodontitis in 69 middle-aged and elderly men was carried out taking into account the personal response of patients Solovyov «Psychosensory-anatomical-functional maladaptation syndrome».Results. When patients were discharged from the hospital, there was a difference in the phenomena of maladaptation among the elderly and middle-aged: in middle-aged people, sufficient adaptation to the conditions of existence was determined; in elderly people, due to the existing comorbid pathology, a state of maladaptation was diagnosed, which was caused by the presence of complaints of defects in the dentition.Conclusion. In elderly people, as soon as possible after completion of treatment in a hospital, dental rehabilitation cannot be considered completed, which requires the adoption of organizational measures for their timely provision of dentures.

The article discusses the dynamics of economic development based on the level of digitalization of the countries. Economic development is evaluated through the dynamics of GDP changes. Digitalization level is evaluated through the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI), which is calculated on a regular basis by the European Commission. Object of study – 28 EU‑member countries. The hypothesis of the investigation: a high level of digitalization leads to an acceleration of economic growth on national level. This hypothesis did not find any statistically significant confirmation. Thus, we can conclude that the level of the economy digitalization at the present stage of development of technologies and institutions in the EU countries does not have a decisive effect on the rate of economic growth.

The article is devoted to the study of the current state of female athletes’ training in ketlebell lifting. The dynamics of fulfillment of standards of the master of sports of Ukraine by female athletes in all disciplines of ketlebell lifting in the period from 2016 to 2021 is analyzed. Female athletes (women aged 18-35 years) of national teams of regions of Ukraine in weight categories up to 58 kg, up to 63 kg, up to 68 kg and over 68 kg took part in the study. The protocols of the championships of Ukraine for the specified period were analyzed. Research methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodical literature and documentary method (study of competition protocols). It was found that in the snatch for the period under study the standard of the master of sports obeyed only three athletes, but in the jerk and long cycle no one female athletes have not fulfill the standarts. In addition, in a snatch with an arbitrary change of hands for 12 minutes (R-12), which was introduced in 2019 to attract more women to ketlebell lifting and popularize ketlebell lifting among women, in three years the standard of master of sports obeyed 27 female athletes. This allows us to say that at the present stage of development of ketlebell lifting there is a high level of preparedness of female athletes in the discipline of R-12 and the popularity of exercises with ketlebells among women. The need to improve the training process of female athletes in other disciplines of ketlebell lifting was also confirmed.

Body function begins to decline in middle age, with changes becoming increasingly noticeable over time. With the popularization of educational and information technology, people know more about healthcare and are becoming accustomed to self-testing using health equipment. Technological changes are reflected in products, which present innovations including the switch from traditional to touch-controlled interface designs. This can cause difficulties in the interpretation and interface operation for older adults, who may be facing physiological and psychological alterations. Understanding users’ physiological limitations has become an important aspect of product design. This study explored the effects of physiological limitations on touch-screen operation in middle-aged and elderly people, specifically regarding button type, display position, and button size. A total of 64 participants were included in the study: 32 middle-aged people (aged 45–64 years) and 32 elderly people (65 years of age and older). Each participant was asked to complete 32 tasks (two button categories × four button sizes × four presentation positions). The results revealed no differences between the elderly and the middle-aged groups with regard to the interpretation of image buttons and text buttons; however, button size affected the operation and interpretation time. Middle-aged participants demonstrated good interpretation performance when the buttons were displayed in the upper or lower part of the screen, whereas elderly participants only had a good interpretation performance when the buttons were in the upper part. For both groups, the ideal image button size was 16 mm with a text font size of 22.

Due to the aging of population there is a need for reevaluation of the importance and the necessity of elderly people’s participation in the life of society and as a result reevaluation of the methods of their adjustment. Modern “third aged people” want to continue living in the habitual rhythm of life, being the full participants of the society even after their retirement. The social portrait of a modern elderly differs significantly from the one 15-20 years ago. The level of medicine in the developed countries provides them with good state of health and therefore they can retain high level of social and emotional activity. Using several countries (Japan, Australia, Canada,) as an example the article aims to present different ways of inclusion of elderly people in socially useful activities in order to solve the problems of the modern society, in other words, to suggest how third aged people may be helpful. The article sums up that giving the opportunity of social and professional activity to the elderly people helps them to prevent social maladjustment and arising feeling of needlessness after the termination of active employment.

Abstract BackgroundWith increases in global urbanization and global warming, there are corresponding increases in urban heat island effects. Heatwave disasters are occurring more frequently, bringing direct and indirect mental health hazards to urban residents. Understanding the mechanism of the impact of high ambient temperatures on emotional health is a scientific problem that needs clarification.MethodsData collected through an emotions questionnaire and temperature data measured on heatwave days were analyzed using GIS, SPSS and MATLAB software to study the influence of heatwaves on the negative emotions of middle-aged and elderly people (over 40 years old).ResultsThe results indicate that the degree of influence of high temperatures on various negative emotions differs significantly, as some emotional responses tend to fluctuate while others steadily worsen. The progression of emotional responses is distressed > irritable > nervous > hostile. With increasing temperatures, phase-based changes in emotional states occur, with different emotional states corresponding to different temperature thresholds; the temperature thresholds for distress/nervousness/hostility were shown to be 38°C/43°C, 40°C/44°C, 43°C, respectively.ConclusionAmbient temperatures exceeding 35°C have a significant negative impact on the emotional health of middle-aged and elderly people. Irritability and nervousness monotonically increase, while distress and hostility tend to fluctuate. This study contributes to the prevention and management of the harmful effects of heatwaves on emotions, providing basic information applicable to designing layouts for urban green spaces to reduce the effects of urban heat islands.

Abstract Background: To explore the relationship between different types of caries and periodontal disease severity in middle-aged and elderly people in China. Methods: The study population consisted of 4,387 middle-aged and 3,225 elderly subjects. Caries was divided into three types: type A, crown caries; type B, lesions involving both the crown and root, which represents mixed type; and type C, root caries. These three types together represent the overall caries situation, which we call type ABC. Caries was quantitated by decayed and filled teeth (DFT index). Periodontitis was evaluated by clinical attachment loss. Results: Middle-aged people with periodontitis had a significant association with DFT of type ABC (OR: 1.09, 95% CI: 1.06‐1.11), type A (OR: 1.05, 95% CI: 1.02‐1.08), type B (OR: 1.20, 95% CI: 1.16-1.28) and type C (OR: 1.36, 95% CI: 1.15-1.60). Elderly people with periodontitis had a significant association with DFT of type ABC (OR: 1.05, 95% CI: 1.03-1.07), type B (OR: 1.07, 95% CI: 1.05-1.10) and type C (OR: 1.30, 95% CI: 1.19-1.42),but not with type A.Conclusions: Different types of caries in middle-aged people, the overall caries and caries types involving the root surface in elderly people were significantly associated with periodontal disease severity.

Aim. Identification of opportunities to influence the development of the epidemic process of HIV infection.Materials and methods. Mathematical modeling and statistical analysis methods were used to assess the epidemiological situation forecast. In addition, the work uses methods of epidemiological research: analytical, descriptive and evaluative, statistical observation method with the calculation of intensive and extensive indicators, a continuous observational retrospective epidemiological study in the volume of the General population over a long period.Results. A retrospective analysis of the development of the epidemic process of HIV infection in a region with a high level of HIV infection over a 26-year period since the first case was registered in 1993 showed that a concentrated stage of the epidemic has formed in the region at the present stage with an average annual rate of HIV growth of +259,9% against the national rate of +31,4%. By the end of 2018 a characteristic trend in the age structure of HIV is to reduce the proportion of persons aged up to 24 years, the prevalence of persons 35–44 years of age, a notable increase of the age group 55–64 years with a predominance of women infected by heterosexual sex (55,8 per cent). Predicting the epidemiological situation in relation to the age structure of HIV-infected people until 2023 showed a steady trend towards an increase in the HIV-positive age group up to 14 years, 40– 49 years, 50 years and older. There is a fairly high rate of HIV transmission among women.Conclusions. At the present stage of development of the epidemic process of HIV infection, the main share of HIV-infected people is 35–44 years old (72,4%). The results obtained during the study of predicting the development of the epidemic situation with regard to HIV infection until 2023 allow us to focus the anti-epidemic work of epidemiologically significant age groups.

The present stage of development of society is characterized by extremely high rates of reproducing processes, dynamics of business relations and high level of requirements for the efficiency of solving current problems. The article examines the composition and prospects of the logistics system in Ukraine, analyzes the strategic directions of its development. The potential of river transportation in Ukraine, its present-time status and role in the transport and logistics system are covered. Some programs for the development of the transport system and its integration into the international space, their prospects and the reality of implementation are analyzed. The main risks for sustainable development and ways of their leveling with the help of infrastructural elements are defined. The focus is set on the main problems of both the entire logistics complex and the river transportation segment, the directions of their overcoming are singled out. For the purposes of the research, with the river routes are included the immediate shipping routes (i.e. rivers and canals), infrastructure objects (ports, gateways, docks, ship repair plants, etc.) and fleet (river vessels, tugs, barges and vessels of the river-sea type). The groups of measures for the development of river transport are singled out on the basis of potential sources of their financing. The components of economic efficiency of river transport development and ways of achieving such efficiency are substantiated. The river transport of Ukraine is the most environmentally friendly, energy efficient and can provide low self-cost of transportation. In the context of perspective increase in prices for both road and rail transportation, river transport can become the reserve that can keep the cost of transportation within the country at the current level. Particular attention is paid to the development of river ports of Ukraine as promising logistics centers. Specific instruments and measures to develop the relevant segment of river logistics and ensure their efficiency have been formulated. One of these key instruments, according to the author, be the automation of the processes of management and organization of river transportation, which will help maximize their efficiency.
