In order to identify the psychological factors of professional burnout of anesthesiologists and intensive care physicians, 61 physicians from the Arkhangelsk region were examined. Methods were used: questionnaire “Attitude to work and professional burnout” developed by V.A. Vinokur, McLean’s Organizational Stress Scale, Freiburg Personality Questionnaire (FPI), Anxiety Test developed by C.D. Spielberger and modified by Yu.A. Khanina, R. Lazarus and S. Volkman's Coping Test, methods for assessing the psychological atmosphere in the team developed by A.F. Fidler. It was established that 60,6% of anesthesiology and intensive care physicians have a high level of professional burnout. Three groups of factors affecting the emergence and development of professional burnout among physicians have been identified: individually personal (use of non-constructive coping strategies, high anxiety, emotional instability, depression, aggressiveness); socio-psychological (unfavorable socio-psychological climate in the team) and professional and organizational (lack of professional development and self-improvement, work tensions, low self-assessment of work quality, organizational stress). The article offers recommendations for the prevention of professional burnout in anesthesiology and intensive care physicians.

The syndrome of emotional (professional) burnout is the state of emotional, mental exhaustion, physical exhaustion, which arises as a result of chronic stress at work. It is a result of the interaction of objective stressful environmental impacts and subjective sociopsychological characteristics of an employee. The structure, stages and indicators of burnout syndrome are theoretically analysed. The study of factors contributing to professional burnout was carried out on the staff of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) in Ukraine. It was found that about a quarter of the sample has a high integral index of burnout, which is more often manifested through depersonalization and reduction of professional and personal achievements, but emotional exhaustion is less common in our subjects. The analysis of the relationship between the indicators of emotional professional burnout and some socio-psychological indicators of the subjects in our sample showed that the most important for preventing of burnout occurrence are impulsiveness, practicality and internal intrinsic motivation. Positive correlations with burnout rates (can contribute to its emergence) are the duration of service in missions and such coping strategies as search for social support, cautious, manipulative, antisocial and aggressive actions.

The work in intensive care unit (ICU) can be considered one of the most stressful for the physician and the relation between this work and the burnout syndrome is still little studied. A systematic review was carried out to describe the scientific production on the prevalence and factors related with burnout syndrome in intensive care physicians, published in databases: IBECS, LILACS, MEDLINE, Psyc Info, PubMed and Scielo. Inclusion criteria were original studies, with transversal delimitation, that used the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) in intensive care physicians. The search identified 118 articles and of these, 09 articles were eligible. The second decade of the 2000s had the largest concentration of articles and five publications were held in Brazil, which may mean an increase in the national scientific production on the subject. The results of the studies that used as a diagnostic criterion the high level in at least one dimension of the syndrome, indicated a high prevalence of burnout. It was also observed a diversity of factors associated with the prevalence of burnout. It was found a heterogeneity of criteria for identifying the syndrome and ways of calculating and interpreting MBI results. It is suggested to standardize the criteria for identification of the syndrome, calculations and interpretation of MBI results.

The article deals with the results of the study on burnout syndrome among teachers with various work experiences in university. The aim of the study is the review of burnout psychological patterns among teachers with various work experiences in university. The main hypothesis of the study is based on the assumption that the teachers whose work experience in departmental universities is more than 10 years are more vulnerable to the burnout syndrome development. In order to attain the envisaged goals and to test the hypothesis there were used empirical methods: differential diagnosis of decreased functioning by A. Leonova and S. Velichkovskaya, diagnosis of professional burnout by K. Maslach and S. Jackson adapted by N.E. Vodop’yanova, technique for diagnosing the burnout syndrome level by V.V. Boiko. Abstract. There are presented materials concerning psychological features of professional "burnout" syndrome in teachers of correctional schools working with children with intellectual disabilities, as well as the results of the conducted psychorehabilitation measures. Were examined 55 special educational needs teachers, aged 30 - 40 years with work experience from 6 to 12 years with the formed syndrome of professional «burnout». All examined were given a course of psychocorrection. To assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation measures, the MBI test technique before and after psychocorrection was used. A high level of professional "burnout" has been revealed with a predominance in its structure of emotional exhaustion and reduction of professional achievements. The results of the retest indicate the effectiveness of psychocorrectional interventions.

The research addresses the need to assess the degree of professional burnout of teachers of higher education institutions of Ukraine and to analyse connection between the level of teachers’ professional burnout and their organizational-professional (type of education, teaching experience) and socio-demographic (age, gender, marital status) characteristics. The article presents results of comparative analysis of major scientific approaches to the content of professional burnout: result of occupational stress; psychological defence mechanism; type of professional deformation of a personality; professional crisis and clinical disorder. The authors’ Questionnaire was employed as the main method of the study. The level of teachers’ professional burnout was explored via “Burnout Syndrome” in professions of the system “man-man” method by Maslach & Jackson. The study was conducted from 01 to 31 May 2020 and involved 302 faculty members of higher education institutions of Cherkasy region (central Ukraine). The findings signal that more than a third of the surveyed teachers experience a high level of expression of all components of professional burnout. The paper reports that the length of teaching experience has a positive effect on reducing most components of professional burnout; the level of emotional exhaustion decreases with age; women have a lower degree of emotional exhaustion than men. It is revealed that the actual socio-demographic characteristics of teachers (age, gender) have a greater impact on such a component of professional burnout as emotional exhaustion, while organizational and professional characteristics have a greater effect on such components of professional burnout as depersonalization and reduction of personal achievements.

Relevance. Professional activity of specialists in many industries in modern society takes place in difficult conditions. Anesthesiologists-resuscitators are subject to significant adverse effects of physical, chemical, biological, psychophysiological and psychological nature. Therefore, the risks of stress, as well as professional burnout and mental maladjustment increase, leading to decreased effectiveness and quality of professional activities, to adverse changes in personality, deterioration of health, relationships with colleagues, patients, relatives.Intention. To identify the impact of negative labor factors on the occurrence and development of professional burnout among anesthesiologists-resuscitators.Methodology. 95 anesthesiologists-resuscitators from the Arkhangelsk region took part in the study. Research methods: questionnaires, psychological testing, mathematical and statistical processing of empirical data. Results and Discussion. 65.3 % of anesthesiologists-resuscitators demonstrated psychological components of professional burnout syndrome, namely emotional exhaustion, increased fatigue, dissatisfaction with their professional activities and their results, as well as emerging health problems and general maladjustment. 76.6 % of the surveyed consider their professional activity as extreme. According to anesthesiologists-resuscitators, the most frequent negative factors of the labor process are psychophysiological and psychological ones (high responsibility, unexpectedness, lack of time, suffering and grief of other people, high loads). Anesthesiologists-resuscitators with most frequent occurrence and negative impact of psychophysiological and psychological factors, in comparison with other factors, have higher rates of organizational stress, psychological determinants of professional burnout and maladaptation disorders. Anesthesiologists-resuscitators with most frequent occurrence and negative impact of physical, chemical and biological factors, in comparison with psychophysiological and psychological ones, have less intensive professional burnout and organizational stress. They benefit from better communication skills, behavioral regulation and normative social behavior.Conclusion. The pronounced relationships between the psychological determinants of professional burnout (emotional exhaustion, work stress, health disorders and general maladjustment) and the psychophysiological and psychological factors of the labor process of anesthesiologists-resuscitators show the constructive and diagnostic validity of the study. Most correlations were found with such factors of professional activity, as novelty and strangeness, lack of time, unexpectedness of complex professional situations, ambiguity, uncertainty of these situations, observed and perceived violation of public order, which led to severe injuries in victims, the great significance of events and understanding of personal involvement.

Abstract Burnout syndrome has an increasing incidence among intensive therapists because of high expectations and stress which leads to physical, mental and emotional exhaustion. Our aim was to examine the causes and severity of burnout in intensive care units. Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaires were distributed among intensive care workers of an university and a town hospital. Socio-demographic data were also collected. The questionnaires were completed by 67 professionals, 28 doctors, 39 nurses. 43.4% suffered serious burnout, 23.52% high level of depersonalization, only 19.11% were satisfied with their accomplishments. Females showed higher incidence of burnout, especially those with chronic diseases (OR=3.33). According to our data, burnout was not related to family status and working hours, however there was significant correlation between satisfaction and weekly relaxation time (p = 0.0115). Burnout syndrome is spreading among intensive care employees, therefore its prevention should be a priority.
