The article is devoted to the description of the results of the investigation of relations between family representation and family identity in adolescents with their emotional state which was diagnosed with Beck Depression Inventory. Family representation was investigated with the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale (FACES-III) and modified projective methods “What is my family?” by M. Kuhn and T. McPartland. 249 boys and girls at the age of 10 to 17 took part in this research. There was revealed the relation of teenager’s emotional well-being to the specifics of their family values experience, family emotional estimate, idea of its cohesion and adaptability. The more points the subject had on the Beck Depression Inventory, the more negative family representation one demonstrated: there were more negative characteristics while family description, his dissatisfaction of family cohesion and adaptability level was higher. In addition the more negative emotion condition was diagnosed, the less cohesive and adaptive was his family for the teenager. Thus the relation between teenager’s family representation and family identity and his emotional well-being was confirmed.

The article analyzes interaction of spouses in overcoming financial stress. An online survey of 136 married couples was conducted during the lockdown caused by the spread of COVID-19 accompanied by family income losses. Frequency and severity of discussions on financial topics; level of subjective economic well-being, activity of coping strategies, family cohesion and adaptation were measured. Results showed that the discussion of financial topics is a stressor for married couples, accompanied by contradictions and conflicts, but ultimately helps to improve quality of relations between spouses, and also increases the adaptability of the family system in a situation of socio-economic crisis. Subjects of conflicts were defined. Influence of gender roles on financial consciousness and behavior was shown. Wives are more likely to initiate discussions on economic topics and more inclined to economic anxiety, while husbands showed economic optimism. The severity of financial stress correlates with assessments of family cohesion. Correlations between financial well-being and coping behavior of husbands and wives represent the family as an entire open system. Partners are interdependent in overcoming financial stress. Collective family coping is determined by individual reactions of spouses. The efforts of partners can be congruent and complementary.

Purpose This study aims to understand how family values, family managers and non-family managers influence the institutionalization of management control systems in family firms. Design/methodology/approach A case study was conducted in a family business group that underwent a process of adoption and transformation of its management control system. Findings The results indicate that several non-family managers, besides the controller, played crucial roles in harmonizing the logic of a generalized practice (quality control management) with the existing rationalities of the family firm. The authors also observed that the ISO 9001/quality control management logic together with the family values of professionalism, meritocracy and an emphasis on the business’s identity rather than the family identity have laid the groundwork for the formalization of the business group’s management controls. Practical implications This study shows that quality control management is an accessible source of guidance for the formalization of managerial activities within an organization. Originality/value This paper contributes to the literature by clarifying the role performed by non-family managers during the formalization of management control in family firms. It also shows how the family values of professionalism, meritocracy and an emphasis on the business’s identity rather than family identity can influence the way control is exercised within family firms.

In this paper , we focus on contemporary Macedonian literature for young people, in particular of one of its segment, and it is the presence of violence and violent scenes in the works designed for this audience. Theorists of this literature, popularly called YAL, not circumvent these issues, just like writers who write books intended for adolescents. This topic will be discussed by esplicit examples that will be taken of contemporary literature for young people, in order from one side to indicate their presence, and the need to write freely on the subject, and on the other hand to help young people who are experiencing these problems. The analysis will show that in most cases, the cause of the young sometimes turning to violence or themselves been victims of violence are shifting family values, or lack / absence of the family, a family member, usually a parent, neglect by parents and their preoccupation with work.

The family business contains certain specifics from the organizational form, financing, inheritance, risk, insurance, and others. Family business is very important because it represents a significant part of every national economy and directly affects the well-being and stability of the whole country, but there is still not enough developed awareness of its impact, so this kind of business is not sufficiently researched. That family business is not sufficiently researched is proved by the fact that in market economies there is not enough literature on this way of doing business, so stakeholders do not have insight into the opportunities it provides, as well as problems and risks that must be considered before starting a family business. The subject of this paper is precisely the origin, development, ideas, advantages, and disadvantages of the family business in general. The goal is to present this idea, which can enable a complete financial and organizational analysis of the business venture, ie what are the initial funds and what works need to be undertaken and performed to further develop the family business in Serbia and beyond.

In this study, we evaluate whether the use of dynamic characteristics of the family provides new and important information when conceptualizing the family context of adolescents. Using 21 days of daily diary data from adolescents (N=151; 61.59% female; mean age = 14.60 years) in two-caregiver households, we quantified between-family differences in the extent to which their experiences of family cohesion and conflict fluctuate from day to day. We included these estimates of consistency in family cohesion and conflict, along with traditional survey assessments of dispositional family cohesion and conflict, in a latent profile analysis to identify subgroups of families with distinct combinations of dispositional and consistency in family cohesion and conflict. We next assessed how these profiles were differentially associated with emotion regulation, internalizing symptoms, problem behaviors, and well-being at baseline and at a 12-month follow-up. Results revealed four distinct family profiles with unique associations with outcomes. By considering both dispositional and consistency in family cohesion and family conflict and how these four factors cluster within families to differing degrees, we better capture the richness of the family context and highlight the implications for understanding its role in adolescent well-being.

The paper sets an approach to the definition of the family as a social system, considers the concept of family identity, which is one of the factors of the favorable influence of the family on the formation of the child’s personality. The structure of the family identity of minors is revealed, its most significant factors are determined. The article examines in detail such a component of the structure of family identity as family cohesion. The author also presents data from a survey of adolescent delinquent and normative behavior using the «Family Cohesion and Adaptation Scale» (FACES-3), analyzes them, identifies the types of families of juvenile delinquents, and presents the results of a study of the family identity of juvenile delinquents in a table form. Using t-student test, statistically significant differences were revealed between the prevailing types of families of adolescents with delinquent behavior and adolescents with normative behavior. As a result of the work, the author of the article emphasizes that the lack of a sense of adolescents' connection with the family, acceptance by the family, satisfaction with their family complicates their social development situation and can lead to illegal behavior. The author also makes brief recommendations on overcoming family disunity to form a cohesion factor as an indicator of family identity.

Purpose Drawing on the principal-principal conflict and identity literatures, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the Agency Problem Type II-bis in the context of family business. Specifically, the authors hypothesize that the size of the family owner group is related to firm growth and that this relationship is moderated by the extent to which the family identifies with the firm. Design/methodology/approach The hypotheses are tested on a sample of 265 medium and large German family firms (FFs) via moderated hierarchical regression analysis. Findings The main findings suggest that business family identity moderates the inverted U-shaped relationship between the size of the family owner group and firm growth in such a way that FFs with medium-sized family owner groups and high levels of business family identity reach higher firm growth. Practical implications In the context of FFs fully owned by one family, family owners might have different strategic preferences, goals, and identities, thus potentially making them subject to the conflict that could arise among the different family owners in relation to growth expectations. Recognizing this problem could help family owners find potential solutions to ensure the well-being of both the family and the business. Originality/value The combination of family ownership structure and family ownership dynamics affects firm growth. Challenging the homogeneity of the family owner group, the authors highlight the role of Agency Problem Type II-bis in hindering growth of FFs. A finer-grained view of principal-principal conflicts in FFs is thus discussed.

Abstract The paper reports the results of a comparative analysis of the two groups students coming from temporarily disconnected families due to foreign work parents (TDF, n = 68; male = 30, female = 38) and teenagers with the same social environment (NDF, n = 179, male = 89, female = 90), but without the experience of separation time (N= 247). The subject of the analysis was: the cohesion of a family from the perspective of the evaluated adolescent and three factors of psychological loneliness: social loneliness (sense of social marginalization and isolation), emotional loneliness (solitude) and existential loneliness (sense of self-alienation). The Loneliness Scale (SBS) was used based on an original concept of multidimensional sense of loneliness. The questionnaire for the survey of family cohesion (KSR) were used too. The age (12-14 and 15-17), gender, family structure and the family lifestyle were controlled. Obtained results revealed significantly lower cohesion and significantly higher existential loneliness in group of teenagers from temporarily disconnected families (TDF). Not confirmed the supposition that made in earlier studies of temporarily disconnected families due to economic migration, that these teenagers suffer from a sense of emotional loneliness There has also confirmed the belief that the level of family cohesion and a sense of loneliness in adolescents is associated with atypical organization of family life associated with the duration of migration of parent/parents, frequency of contact with family members working abroad: mothers, fathers or broth parents, the duration of stays at home

This study assessed a range of benefits from participation in a brief existential intervention consisting of a semi-structured videotaped interview with cancer patients and their families designed to illuminate a life legacy for the family (the Life Tape Project [LTP]). Results indicated the majority reported intervention-specific benefits, especially in the areas of symbolic immortality (passing on personal values and philosophy), self-reflection and growth, and improved family cohesion and communication. Participants, particularly those who had perceived their cancer as a threat of death, serious injury, or threat to their physical integrity, and responded with intense fear or helplessness, also reported more general reductions in mood disturbance, improvements in aspects of well-being (including overall quality of life), satisfaction with the understanding they received, and enhanced cancer-related posttraumatic growth. In short, the LTP is a brief, inexpensive, existential intervention that can yield broad positive psychosocial changes for a majority of participants.

Theoretical, methodological, and empirical substantiation of the problem of values’ development of a serviceman’s family after the implementation of the civil-military relations reform in Russia in 2012 is presented. On the basis of the study from the sociological survey “Family Culture of the Russian Servicemen”, the trends in updating family values in the post-reform period are revealed. The identification of the changes in the values of a serviceman’s family made it possible to clarify and reveal the structure of military families and the ways transforming not only the vital interests and priorities of this family, but also the changes in labor motives, needs and social needs of their members, as a whole. It is proved that the value priorities of military personnel in modern conditions should be characterized as one of the generalized indicators of their professional cultural potential. With regards to the priorities of life values, military families are conventionally divided into several groups: 1) 20% “money savers” (the families whose members have predominant values related to material well-being, the desire for high earnings); 2) 17% “health-oriented” (the families that have the most important priority in maintaining health, developing the physical potential of their members); 3) 10% “strong family members” (the families whose members have predominant values related to their own family, striving to maintain good relations in the family); 4) 10% “career professionals” (the families whose life activities are aimed at ensuring the conditions for career growth of military personnel, and increasing their military educational potential); 5) 6% “self-sacrificing patriots” (the families that focus on finding things to their liking, realizing themselves in interesting military activities, meeting the need for military intellectual work, subordinating their own interests, sacrificing them for the good of society, the country and the state).
