The goal of the psychological and pedagogical experiment conducted in the academic year 2018-2019 is to determine the preferred sensory channels of preschool children with autism spectrum disorders for the development of recommendations on the use of art therapy methods and techniques in the formation of communication skills. The experimental group included 10 preschoolers from 4 to 7 years old with autism spectrum disorders. At the diagnostic stage, the degree of formation of communication skills was studied, the preferred sensory modalities were determined. All children showed a low level of development of communication skills: 2 of them had no speech, 4 of them used speech only in affectively significant situations, the rest used separate words and simple phrases for communication. According to the results of a experiment, it was determined that for 4 children the tactile channel is preferred, for 3 - visual, for 3 - audio. Recommendations are given on the use of art-therapeutic methods and techniques: for preschoolers with a predominant tactile way of perceiving - exercises with sand, for children with auditory preferences - music and dance therapy, for children with a predominant visual way of perceiving - isotherapy.

Synaesthesia — a phenomenon of perception, when stimulation of one sensory modality triggers a perception in one or more other sensory modalities. Synaesthesia is not uniform and can manifest itself in different ways. As the sensations and their interpretation vary in different periods of time, it makes it hard to study this phenom¬enon. The article presents the classification of different forms of synaesthesia, including sensory and cognitive; and bimodal and multimodal synaesthesia. Some synaesthetes have several forms and variants of synaesthesia, while others – just one form of it. Although synaesthesia is not specific to autism spectrum disorders, it is quite common among autistic individuals. The article deals with the most common forms of synaesthesia in autism, advantages and problems of synesthetic perception in children with autism spectrum disorders, and provides some advice to parents how to recognise synaesthesia in children with autism.

Introduction. The article is devoted to the problem of the communicative skills development of primary school children with autism spectrum disorders using the information site. The purpose of the article is to highlight the possibilities of using the information site by teachers in the process of communication skills development in children with autism spectrum disorders. Research methodology and methods. The research is based on the methodology of a differentiated approach taking into account the age and individual capabilities of the schoolchildren, as well as the severity of the disorder. Various classifications of autism spectrum disorders have been analyzed, and special attention has been paid to the consideration of the peculiarities of speech development, namely, its communicative function. The stages of the research carried out in order to identify the level of communication skills development of children with autism spectrum disorders and the search for ways of corrective work are reflected. Research results. The results of experimental work with the use of an information site aimed to communication skills development of primary schoolchildren with autism spectrum disorders have been presented. Conclusion. In conclusion we should underline that the communicative skills are one of the main manifestations of autism spectrum disorders and teachers can use information technology (for example, an information site) to develop these skills.

Aim. The purpose of the article is to improve sensory integration, coordination and conditioning abilities in preschool children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) through hippotherapy classes. Material and methods. The pedagogical experiment was conducted on the premises of the Favorit equestrian club (Podolsk, Moscow Region) from September 2016 to September 2018. 10 preschool children with ASD participated in the experiment (experimental group). The following research methods were used: theoretical analysis and literature summary; pedagogical testing; summative and formative assessment; methods of mathematical statistics. Results. Analysis of changes in the indicators of the experimental group from the beginning to the end of the pedagogical experiment showed positive changes. The Romberg test indicators improved by 3.3 s, the results of the trunk stability test and trunk lift test improved by 6 and 5.03 s, respectively (p < 0.05). Assessment of sensory integration showed an improvement in tactile sensation by 14 points, in the vestibular apparatus by 12.63 points, the perception of visual information improved by 8.4 points (p < 0.05). Conclusion. The pedagogical experiment confirms the effectiveness of using hippotherapy for sensory integration dysfunctions in preschool children with autism spectrum disorders and improving coordination and conditioning abilities in children.

This chapter provides readers with an overview regarding empirical evidences available in the literature within the last decade (i.e., 2005-2015) concerning the use of assistive technology for children with autism spectrum disorders. According to the including and excluding criteria, 36 studies were retained and grouped in four main categories, namely: (a) communication skills, (b) adaptive and/or social skills, (c) life skills, and (d) challenge behaviors. The first aim of the chapter was to outline strengths and weaknesses of the aforementioned studies. The second objective of the chapter was to emphasize practical applications of assistive technology-based programs. Finally, the third purpose was to discuss the findings pointing out some useful guidelines for future research. Results were fairly positive, although some failures occurred. Clinical, educational, psychological and rehabilitative implications were also discussed.

This article analyzes the features of the formation of communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorder. The analysis of the literature showed that in most children with autism spectrum disorder, communication disorders caused by violations of social interaction, difficulties with imitation and imitation of movements on the model, it is difficult to recognize the emotional state of other people. The development of communication skills is one of the most important areas of correctional work with children with autism spectrum disorders. Learning to make statements, comment on events, ask questions for information express and connect emotions, as well as the skills of reaction, social behavior and dialogue are prerequisites for the socialization of children. Taking into account the peculiarities of the development of communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorder, the authors consider developing methods for the formation of communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorder, used in correctional pedagogical work. The presented methods of correction of communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorders aimed at the formation of basic communication functions, social-emotional and dialogic skills. It known that the formed communication skills provide social competence, dialogic communication skills, interaction and cooperation with peers and adults. Thus, methods for the formation of verbal and non-verbal communication functions, socio-emotional skills and dialogue skills used to correct and develop communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorders.
