The article is devoted to the analysis of the functional architecture signification mode. The distinction between functional architecture and symbolic one is determined on the basis of Hegelian approach. This shift generates not only another way of organizing signifiers, but the emergence of a fundamentally different way of relations with the signified, which actually forms a marked semantic shift. Using strategies of semantic analysis to the material of G. Hegel’s aesthetics allows not only expand the horizons of applied semantics, but also understand the patterns of formation of art and aesthetic process in general. In our opinion, G. Child’s definition of monumental architecture as a criterion for the emergence of civilization (in the evolutionary sense of the term), requires Hegelian refinement concerning classic architecture. In the latter one, in comparison with the symbolic one, the following semantic shift is carried out: organization of syndicators already has a greater degree of freedom in it (even before the cultivation of the forms construction), and therefore their artistic transformation becomes possible. Also, the classic culture has a referent, and therefore it has a significant implementation structure. The measure of differentiation of the symbolic value and utilitarian one shows the possibility of its seniority in the logic of cultural development. Exchange measurements of buildings become possible only in the era of a high degree of cultural differentiation in general (and therefore the architecture remains in the conditions of redistribution, and not just as an exchange of goods). Also, for a long time it remained the subject of "demonstrative consumption". Consequently, functional architecture is the result of complex cultural synthesis, in contrast to the syncretism of the symbolic architecture cultural practice. Their organizational separation marks an important semantic shift that we have been trying to describe. In particular, the construction of the Egyptian pyramids of the Ancient kingdom as burial chambers testifies to the cessation of the existence of its own symbolic architecture, according to G. Hegel. It is in the aesthetic analysis of the differences in symbolic architecture that this classic of philosophical thought departs from the speculative nature of its absolute idealism and understanding of art as the first stage of an absolute spirit, as well as it opens the methodological perspectives of semantic analysis.

The article is devoted to analyze of the signification mode of symbolic architecture. An attempt is carried out to detect the difference between the symbolic form of the ritual and the symbolic architecture, as well as the semantic shift that this distinction causes the organization of symbols to generate. Application of strategies of semantic analysis to the material of aesthetics G. Using strategies of semantic analy- sis to the material of G. Hegel’s aesthetics allows not only to expand the horizons of applied semantics, but also to understand the patterns of formation of art and aesthetic process in general. Symbolic architecture does not serve anything, in contrast to the functional one. It is self-sufficient in the sense of human self-production as a cultural entity in the process of the signification regime reorganizing of early forms of culture and the implementation of the semantic shift of the Neolithic revolution. Self-sufficient architecture has such irrationally gigantic sizes, since the form of monumentality was designed to "localize the Numinous". The sav- age efforts of the cyclopean clutches were a kind of Potlatch, curbing the evil force of the "The Accursed Share", reducing the conflict potential of the community, whose conditions of survival were changing in the agrarian wave movement. The gift magic could no longer cope with the new situation, and therefore the sacrifice of production time, and just the human sacrifice (René Girard), was the answer to the new civilization challenge. Nevertheless, the monumental architecture remained a signification mod of symbolism. After all, the latter was a non-differentiation of material, cultural and social, as well as production-consumption-pleasure. That was, self-sufficient architecture was a cultural practice of mimetic restoration of itself (without primacy of contemplation). What actually was expressed in the semantic shift of the symbolic order, which did not involve poly-ontology, the presence of the referent. It was not a reflection, but part of the very action mode. The special part that concentrated, localized the scattered sacred in the pre-civilization state of affairs. The semantic shift manifested itself in another way of organizing the very symbol, primarily in another dominant order of signs. After all, symbolic architecture is still syncretic cultural prac- tice, but which itself was the medium of other cultural practices. The development of symbolic architecture became a basic ritual that pro- vided a balance of other cultural practices.

Heavy Metal is a specific, alternative music genre that exists on the fringe of popular music, where it is classified by its own culture: musical style, fashion, philosophy, symbolic language and political activism. For over five decades of the existence of heavy metal, its fans have developed various communication systems through different types of transnational networks, which significantly influenced the development of all aspects of metal culture, which relates both to divisions within the genre itself and to various philosophical and political aspects of heavy metal activism – of a global heavy metal society. Going through the processes of globalization, and so glocalization, heavy metal is today a significant part of popular culture in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia; while in some societies it represents the cultural practice of a long tradition with elements of cultural tourism, in some countries where conservative, religious policies are dominant, it represents subversive practices and encounters extreme criticism as well as penalties. Globalization in the context of the musical material itself is based on the movement from idiomatic, cultural and intercultural music patterns to transcultural – where heavy metal confronts the notion of one's own genre. Post-metal, the definition of a genre that goes beyond the aesthetic concepts of heavy metal, contains the potential of overcoming the genre itself. Article received: March 30, 2018; Article accepted: May 10, 2018; Published online: October 15, 2018; Preliminary report – Short CommunicationsHow to cite this article: Hadžajlič, Hanan. The definition of person and non-person always change through legal history. Long time ago, law did not recognize the personality of slaves. Recently, it accepted non-human legal subject as legitimate person before the law. This article examines sufficient conditions for being person in the eye of law according to its particular purposes, and then, analyses the meaning of legal person in criminal law. In order to do that, scientific methodology that is adopted in this research is doctrinal legal research combined with philosophical approach. Some theories regarding person and legal person were analysed, and then the concept of person was associated with the accepted definition of legal person that is adopted in the latest Indonesian drafted criminal code. From the study that has been done, can be construed that person in criminal law concerned with norm adressat of the rule, as the author of the acts or omissions, and not merely the holder of rights. It has to be someone or something with the ability to think rationally and the ability to be responsible for the choices he/she made. Drafted penal code embraces human and corporation as its norm adressat. Corporation defined with broad meaning of collectives. Consequently, it will include not only entities with legal personality, but also associations without legal personality. Furthermore, it may also hold all kind of collective namely states, states bodies, political parties, state’s corporation, be criminally liable.

This research, which is entitled “The Dualism of Place in Lattif Halmat’s Poetic Texts”, is a critically analytical study on the dualism of place, the role and position of the element of place within the frame of poetic texts. In the poet’s poetic texts, the element of place created a kind of reversal in the readers’ horizon of expectations. The binary oppositions have become the structure of art and the aesthetic of poetic texts. And often, they have become (purple patches) in the texts in a way that all the surrounding words are ablaze with their power and their beauty.  This research is composed of two chapters: The first chapter is devoted to the concept and definition of dualism and the philosophical concept of dualism in a theoretical method. In terms of their presence in Lattif Halmat’s poetic texts, the second chapter deals with the dualism of place within the frame of poetic texts in a critically analytical way. And finally, the research ends with the conclusions and bibliography.

Since the early days of gene therapy, both the scientific community and the public have perceived the ethical challenges intrinsic to this discipline. First, the technology exploited by gene therapy is still experimental and burdened by important safety issues. Second, in several instances gene therapy aims at stably modifying the genetic characteristics of individuals. Third, the same modifications could in principle be applied also to embryos, foetuses or germ cells. Finally, while gene therapy applications are generally accepted for therapeutic purposes, the same gene transfer technologies could also be exploited to improve the aesthetic appearance, or the physical and intellectual performance of people. The definition of suitable guidelines for a controlled, ethically accepted translation of gene therapy to the clinics remains a major challenge for the near future.

The article is devoted to the consideration of such an object of interdisciplinary research as the elite, namely, the latest trends in its study. It is shown that the consideration of this phenomenon has been going on for a long time, but now there is a sharp change in the focus of research – a new methodology is being developed. This is due to the fact that the axiom taken is the provision of a significant influence of the elite not only on the distribution of resources (economic, political, administrative) but also on the development (or recession) of the nation as a whole. The article presents a detailed analysis of the methodology for measuring the elite quality index which formed the basis for an international study conducted in 2020.

This review explores certain challenges related to the notion of customary international law. It seems that it was a long time ago when international law academics and practitioners ever thought that the nature of this source was a well-settled topic. Nowadays international lawmaking processes involve an extraordinary number of interactions, taking place both formally and informally. Such complex features are reflected by an exponential increase in the scholarly study of international legal sources. The legal nature, its applicability and principles regulating customary international law are addressed in the book under review (Brian D Lepard (ed), Reexamining Customary International Law (Cambridge University Press 2017)) through several topical essays. The chapters offer a comprehensive analysis of these lawmaking processes and the challenges they portray from various perspectives and in various fields, such as: What is customary international law and why is it law? Is it law because it reflects a ‘global legislative’ model? What is the current value of the persistent objector theory? Is the two-element definition of customary international law still applicable? By meticulously addressing these and other inquiries, the book presents novel arguments and represents a stimulating addition to the literature on sources of international law.
