Subjectivities in curricular practices in Mathematics in Youth and Adult Education

Background: The curriculum practices, especially those related to Mathematics, developed in EJA, can exert a strong influence on the students' sentiment of self-efficacy and, in turn, influence the cognitive processing of mathematical knowledge. Objective: To investigate which meanings of curricular practices in Mathematics are subjectived by EJA teachers. Design: Narratives of 5 teachers who work at EJA, whose data collection was through interviews.  Environmente and participants: The research took place in a rural municipal public school located in a city in the interior of Ceará. Data collection and analysis: Textual Discursive Analysis. Results: The curricular practices developed in EJA, especially those related to mathematics, can exert a strong influence on the student's sentiment of self-efficacy and influence their cognitive processing of mathematical knowledge. The moments of collective pedagogical planning and training influence the selection of curriculum content and teaching materials, guiding the construction of the teachers' curricular practices, influencing the construction of their subjectivities, in a permanent relationship between subjects who interact and confront each other from different ways for their pedagogical work, including the support they seek from their peers. Conclusions: Thinking about the subjectivities of the actors involved in EJA should mean turning the attention to the teaching and learning processes, which encompass a range of diversities of social groups with very different cultures, expectations, ages and interests, meaning greater attention to production and implementation of appropriate curricula and teaching for these groups of students, considering their cultures, experiences and previous experiences.

Ethnomathematics are different ways of doing mathematics taking into account the academic mathematical knowledge developed by different sectors of society as well as taking into account the different modes in which different cultures negotiate their mathematical practices (ways of grouping, counting, measuring, designing tools, or playing). Based on this research, this study aims to describe the results of ethnomathematics exploration in Jember batik motifs. The method of analysis used in this research was a qualitative approac with an ethnographic design. Data collection techniques were observation, documentation, and interviews. This research was conducted at Rumah Batik Rolla Jember and Rezti'z Batik Tegalsari Ambulu Jember. The research was conducted for one week. The results of this study indicate that the ethnomathematics in the Jember batik motif has a philosophical value that describes the natural wealth of Jember Regency in each of its motifs, and there are mathematical concepts in the form of geometric transformation concepts (reflection, translation, rotation, and dilation) along with the concept of number patterns.

A lot of studies about temple Sukuh has been conducted before, but not to the extent in which it existed as the place for kaum Rsi. Sukuh Temple is a holy place located at the slope of Lawu Mountain, away from the cities. This definitely is an absolute requirement for a holy place for kaum Rsi. Many old heritages at Candi Sukuh complex support the argument that this temple was built by the Rsis or hermits. Based on that explanation, the research questions of this study are about what factors that indicate Sukuh Temple as the place for the Rsi, and in what kind of Karsyan. The methodology used in this study was conducted in two steps; that is data collection and analysis. The data collection was including observation and literature review. The data analysis was using qualitative analysis with symbol theory. The result of this study showed that based from the old heritages it was indicated that the Karsyan of Mandala Kedewaguruan. The life of the Rsi at Sukuh Temple was related to foods and drinks. They utilized the surrounding area for farming. The harvests are eggplants, coconuts, paddies, and vegetables. In addition, in religious context, the Rsi also did some teaching and learning activities. Kajian tentang Candi Sukuh cukup banyak dilakukan, namun hingga saat ini belum menyentuh pada eksistensinya sebagai tempat kegiatan kaum Rsi. Candi Sukuh merupakan bangunan suci yang terletak di lereng Gunung Lawu jauh dari keramaian. Hal ini sudah pasti memenuhi syarat mutlak bagi bangunan suci untuk kaum Rsi. Berbagai peninggalan masa lalu di kompleks Candi Sukuh menguatkan dugaan bahwa candi ini dibangun oleh para Rsi atau pertapa. Berdasarkan penjelasan tersebut, maka permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah unsur-unsur apa saja yang mengindikasikan bahwa Candi Sukuh sebagai tempat para Rsi dan termasuk karsyan berbentuk apa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini melalui dua tahap yaitu metode pengumpulan dan analisis data. Pengumpulan data meliputi observasi dan kajian pustaka. Analisis yang digunakan ialah kualitatif dengan menggunakan teori simbol. Hasil dari penelitian ini bahwa dari berbagai macam benda-benda peninggalan masa lalu di objek penelitian menunjukkan karsyan berbentuk mandala kedewaguruan. Kehidupan kaum Rsi di Candi Sukuh berkenaan dengan makanan dan minuman. Mereka senantiasa memanfaatkan lahan lingkungan sekitar sebagai tempat bercocok tanam. Hasil panennya berupa terong, kelapa, padi, dan sayuran-sayuran. Selain, aktivitas dalam bidang keagamaan, kaum Rsi juga melakukan kegiataan belajar-mengajar.

This paper addresses  the methodology of Design Thinking and its applicability as a creative methodology when teaching and learning Sociology of Childhood in a higher education context. Students were asked to develop an exercise in order to expand and deepen the theoretical and conceptual knowledge discussed in theoretical classes. Active and creative methodologies were specifically and purposefully designed to develop the ability to think critically about the problems presented, stimulating debate and sociological imagination. Inspired by the Mindshake Design Thinking Model Evolution 6², practical classes were organized and oriented towards specific techniques, namely the “Inspiration Board”, “Intent Statement” and “Insight Clustering”, following, respectively, the phases of exploration, data collection and analysis and interpretation of results. Illustration is given through the development of a research itinerary committed to think, discuss and creatively research the meanings of the “dark” and “darkness” of the night for children. Incorporating Design Thinking in the teaching and learning process in the field of social sciences, namely when researching children and childhood from a sociological perspective, proved to be a both fruitful and engaging tool both for teachers and students.

n the process of teaching and learning it will be fun if students have self-efficacy and the teacher has high creativity in teaching. The purpose of this study is to find out how much the relationship between teacher teaching creativity and self-efficacy of fifth grade students at SDN Sukamaju 03 District Cigudeg, Bogor Regency. This type of quantitative research is a functional relationship between variable X with variable Y, the subjects in this study were 1 group teacher that was sampled only grade V teachers who numbered 20 and class V students of SDN Sukamaju 03 totaling 20 students and the data obtained from questionnaires, Data collection techniques by questionnaire, observation, interview and documentation. Based on the results of testing using product moment, the correlation between teacher teaching creativity (X) with student self-efficacy (Y) obtained a value of rcount = 0.790 and rtable for 20 is 0.444 at level significance of 5% thus rcount > rtable (0.790> 0.444) then H0 is rejected, which means there is a significant correlation between creativity teaching self-efficacy of teachers with students. The significance of the regression equation obtained the Fcount of 29.840 and the Ftable of 4.41 with a sig value of 0.000, so that Fcount > Ftable,  then there is a significant relationship between teacher teaching creativity (Variable X) and student self-efficacy (Variable Y). And this research is to get R2 = 0.624 62.4% showed their creativity variables affect self-efficacy of teachers to teach students, the remaining 37.6% influenced by other factors not an analysis in this study.

Abstract Background Pakistan has not been a major contributor to medical research, mainly because of the lack of learning opportunities to medical students. With the increase in online learning systems during COVID-19, research related skills can be taught to medical students via low-cost peer taught virtual research workshops. Aim of the Study To assess the effectiveness of a comprehensive low-cost peer-taught virtual research workshops amongst medical students in Pakistan. Methods This quasi-experimental study assessed the effectiveness of five virtual research workshops (RWs) in improving core research skills. RWs for medical students from across Pakistan were conducted over Zoom by medical students (peer-teachers) at the Aga Khan University, Pakistan, with minimal associated costs. The content of the workshops included types of research, ethical approval and research protocols, data collection and analysis, manuscript writing, and improving networking skills for research. Improvement was assessed via pre-and post-quizzes for each RW, self-efficacy scores across 16 domains, and feedback forms. Minimum criteria for completion of the RW series was attending at least 4/5 RWs and filling the post-RW series feedback form. A 6-month post-RW series follow-up survey was also emailed to the participants. Results Four hundred medical students from 36 (/117; 30.8%) different medical colleges in Pakistan were enrolled in the RWs. However, only 307/400 (76.75%) medical students met the minimum requirement for completion of the RW series. 56.4% of the participants belonged to the pre-clinical years while the rest were currently to clinical years. The cohort demonstrated significant improvement in pre-and post-quiz scores for all 5 RWs (p <  0.001) with the greatest improvement in Data Collection and Analysis (+ 34.65%), and in self-efficacy scores across all domains (p <  0.001). 166/307 (54.1%) participants responded to the 6 months post-RWs follow-up survey. Compared to pre-RWs, Research involvement increased from 40.4 to 62.8% (p <  0.001) while proportion of participants with peer-reviewed publications increased from 8.4 to 15.8% (p = 0.043). Conclusion Virtual RWs allow for a wide outreach while effectively improving research-related knowledge and skills, with minimal associated costs. In lower-middle-income countries, virtual RWs are a creative and cost-effective use of web-based technologies to facilitate medical students to contribute to the local and global healthcare research community.

Teaching and learning activities is a conscious activity and aims. Therefore, for these activities can be run well and achieve the expected goals, it must be done with the strategy or the right learning approach .. The purpose of this study were: 1) to describe the influence of Self-Concept on the results of studying chemistry at Class XI MA Pacet Mojokerto. 2) Describe the effect of self-efficacy on Learning outcomes chemistry in Class XI MA Pacet Mojokerto 3) Describe the effect of motivation on Learning outcomes chemistry in Class XI MA Pacet Mojokerto 4) Describe the relationship Self-concept, self-efficacy and motivation to Results studied chemistry at Class XI MA Pacet Mojokerto. From the results of the analysis can be summarized as follows: 1) There is a significant relationship between self-concept of the Learning outcomes chemistry inquiry model. T test against self-concept variables (X1) obtained regression coefficient (B) 0.440 (44.0%), coefficient (Beta) 0.091, tcount of 0.378 with significance 0.006 t. Because of the significance of t less than 5% (0.007 <0.05), the Nil Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and working hypothesis (Hi) is received. 2) There is a significant relationship between self-efficacy toward chemistry Learning outcomes inquiry model. T test for Self-efficacy variable (X2) obtained regression coefficient (B) 0.329 (32.9%), coefficient (Beta) 0.124, tcount of 0.436 with a significance of 0.009 t. Because of the significance of t less than 5% (0.008 <0.05), the Nil Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and working hypothesis (Hi) is received. 3) There is a significant relationship between motivation to learn chemistry results inquiry model. T test for motivation variable (X3) obtained regression coefficient (B) 0.130 (13.0%), coefficient (Beta) 0.065, tcount of 0.230 with a significance of 0.001 t. Because of the significance of t less than 5% (0.001 <0.05), the Nil Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and working hypothesis (Hi) received 4) From the calculation results obtained Fhitung value 2,249 (significance F = 0.001). So Fhitung> F table (2,249> 2:03) or Sig F <5% (0.001 <0.05). It means that together independent variables consisting of variable self-concept (X1), Self-efficacy (X2), motivation (X3) simultaneously to variable results of studying chemistry (Y).

Self-efficacy of students plays a role in determining student success in learning, including learning mathematics. Affective aspects such as self-efficacy, play a major role when students work and use mathematics, because to be able to solve mathematical problems is not enough just to know how to do it, but must be accompanied by self-efficacy about the truth of the concepts and procedures they have. This research was conducted in two groups of students using an instrument in the form of a questionnaire to measure students' self-efficacy. Observation data collection techniques were also conducted to determine the learning process of the two groups. The results showed that groups of students who used active and cooperative learning had higher self-efficacy. Keywords: self-efficacy, mathematics, cooperative learning.
