3D voice-enabled MUVEs are increasingly being used in education and in the area of language learning, and teaching is no exception. In this chapter, the authors will examine the affordances that MUVEs offer in this field, starting with a brief overview of the various theoretical frameworks underpinning successful teaching and learning of languages in general and how they apply to MUVEs. The authors then highlight a range of issues arising from a team’s extensive practical experience in material design in the embodied environment of Second Life. These considerations include many possible avenues for follow up by researchers. Finally, they provide some examples of task design to bring these issues into focus.

Abstract: The aim of the research was to determine the effect of cooperatif learning models viewed from the attitude of students. The learning model compared were TAI-CTL, TAI and direct instruction. This was quasi-experimental research designed by factorial 3x3. The population was 8th grade students of junior high school even semester academic year 2013/2014 in Magetan regency. The sample was taken by using stratified cluster random sampling. Total sample was 231 students, consisted of 77 students as TAI-CTL class, 78 students as TAI class, and 76 students as direct instruction class. Hypothesis testing was performed using two-way analysis of variance with unequal cells. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it is concluded that: (1) students learns using TAI-CTL and TAI had better achievement than students learnt using direct instruction, students learnt using TAI-CTL had better achievement than students learnt using TAI (2) positive attitude students had better achievement than those of neutral and negative attitudestudents, neutral attitude students had better achievement than negative attitude students (3) for TAI-CTL and TAI, students with positive attitude had better achievement than neutral and negative attitude, however neutral attitude students had the same achievement as negative attitude students, for direct instruction, positive attitude students had the same achievement as neutral attitude students, meanwhile positive attitude students had better achievement than negative attitudeand students with neutral attitude had the same achievement as negative attitude students (4) for positive attitude students, students learnt using TAI-CTL had the same achievement as students learnt using TAI, meanwhile students learnt using TAI-CTL and TAI had better achievement than students learnt using direct instruction, for neutral and negative attitude students, students learnt using TAI-CTL, TAI, and direct instruction had the same achievement.
Keywords: TAI-CTL, TAI, Direct Instruction, Attitude

The purpose of this study is to improve the quality of science learning material about the energy sources of fourth grade students at SD Negeri 46 Rejang Lebong in the academic year 2019/2020. In the first cycle the teacher has implemented applying the contextual method well and the results of the quality of student learning in cycle I have not yet reached an ideal improvement. Then a revision is needed to improve the deficiencies in the first cycle, but what needs to be considered for further action is to maximize and maintain what is already there with the aim that in the implementation of the next teaching and learning process, the application of applying contextual methods can improve the teaching and learning process so that learning objectives can reached. In cycle II, what has been done well and what is still not well done in the teaching and learning process is the application of contextual methods. From the data that has been obtained can be described as follows: 1) during the teaching and learning process the teacher has carried out all learning well; 2) based on observational data it is known that students are active during the learning process; 3) Deficiencies in the previous cycles have experienced improvements and improvements so that it becomes better; 4) The results of the quality of student learning in cycle II achieve an ideal improvement. In cycle II the teacher has applied the contextual method well and seen from the observation of student activities and student learning outcomes implementation in the teaching and learning process has been going very well. So there is no need for too many revisions, but what needs to be considered for further action is to maximize and maintain what is already there with the aim that in the implementation of teaching and learning, furthermore the application of contextual methods can improve the learning process so that learning objectives can be achieved.

The development and implementation of learning material on exposition text with a process for Senior High School (SHS) students on the teaching of Bahasa Indonesia is reported. The study is aimed to develop a learning material on exposition text with a process to be used as a learning media on the teaching of writing in Bahasa Indonesia. The study is carried out at state senior high school (Sekolah Menengah Atas, SMA) Medan, Indonesia at academic year 2017/2018. The learning material is developed by enriching the topics with exposition text to meet the competence required by national curriculum in Indonesia. The learning material has been used as a media the teaching and learning activities in the experimental class and compared with ordinary book that has been used in control class on the teaching of Bahasa Indonesia. An excellent learning material has been obtained. Implementation of the learning material in the class has change students learning style moving from teacher centred to students centred learning. The developed material was found very effective as a learning media in the teaching and learning process and be able to improve students’ achievement in Bahasa Indonesia. Students’ achievements in experimental class (M=89.63±5.32) was higher than that obtained in control class (M=77.25±5.06). The students’ writing skills are improved. Students performance in experimental class (M=86.04±6.89) was higher than that in control class (M=78.60±5.42). The learning facilities provided in the learning material are found to be effective to guide the students to improve their learning ability to write texts on exposition text with a process in Bahasa Indonesia.

This study reports the implementation of ICT-based learning materials using Blendspace in phonology classes. The ICT-based learning material was developed in the academic year of 2016/2017. The study was conducted in two stages. The rst stage was the validation of the teaching material by two expert judges. The second stage was trying out of the teaching material in the classroom using classroom action research. The learning material developed has been validated by experts using a checklist as an instrument, which has been analysed using the Gregory formula. The expert judges showed that the content validity of the learning material is 90.9%, which means very valid. In order to test the effectiveness of the learning material, it has been implemented in phonology classes joined by the second-semester Diploma III students of the English Department of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, using classroom action research. Based on the teaching and learning process using the material, more than 70% of the students obtained scores between 76 and 100. Fewer than 30% of the students had scores below 75. Therefore, the learning material is considered effective for learning phonology.

The purpose of this study was to increase the learning outcomes of IPA in the Ecosystem Balance mate-rial through the application of the Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) learning model for class VI students of SD Negeri 1 Manggeng for the 2017/2018 academic year. The research methodology is Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles and each cycle consisting of two findings. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The data collection technique is to collect test scores that are carried out at the end of each lesson in each cycle using a question in-strument (written test). The learning outcome data were analyzed by means of percentage statistics. The results showed that the completeness of student learning outcomes increased from 66,67% in the first cycle and increased to 83,33% in the second cycle. The application of the Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) learning model can increase the learning outcomes of IPA in the Ecosystem Balance material of class VI SD Negeri 1 Manggeng for the 2017/2018 academic year

This research investigates how process of speaking instruction takes place at IAIN SMH Banten. There are three main issues in the research problems: the process of teaching speaking, obstacles found in the teaching and learning process, and what efforts do they make to solve the obstacles in speaking. The process of teaching speaking discusses materials, preparation, procedures or steps in teaching speaking while obstacles and solutions discuss the speaking barriers that the students faced in speaking class and how they minimize the barriers. By applying descriptive qualitative research design to students of fourth semester in academic year 2014/2015, the result shows that the focus of speaking instruction at the fourth semester of English education department of IAIN SMH Banten seemed to let the students speak, without any language skills discussion as the feedback. At the same time, during the process of speaking instruction there are some problems faced by students. The first is problem of limited English Competence dealt with students poor of vocabulary and the second is problems of psychological factors.
