Introduction: An elderly person is considered elderly when he or she reaches 60 years or more. Among the problems that occur in the elderly is the loss of teeth. Elderly patients who lose several teeth might decrease the vertical dimension; additional tooth migration causes extensive loss contact. Obtaining an ideal occlusal schema was challenging for dental practitioners. A suitable and efficient preprosthetic plan might be essential to acquire comfortable and good dentures for patients. Our objective is to organize a suitable and efficient preprosthetic, planning to acquire comfortable for patient. Case Report: A 69 year old man who had lost several teeth due to caries on teeth 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 21, 24, 25, 26, 34, 37, 44, 46 and 47. He had used dentures over the last 15 years and needed a new one because the previous dentures was impaired. We determined the tentative vertical dimension and position to the articulator. Preprosthetic planning fixed the prosthesis on 36 and 27 with extraction on 18. A second impression was made and placed on the articulator, arranging the teeth and try in wax dentures continously. We used a definitive dentures and suggest a periodic control. Conclusion: The loss of several teeth decreased vertical dimensions, and existing tooth migration caused extensive loss contact. The systematic preprosthetic planning might be arranged on behalf of success prosthesis.

The objective of this chapter is to identify the gains associated with rehabilitation nursing care implemented in the elderly person with mobility deficit of the fractured femur. An integrative literature review with a qualitative synthesis retrospectively by 2014 was used. Older femur fractures undergo physical changes that affect their motor function and cause dependence in their activities of daily living (ADLs). From the specialized intervention in rehabilitation nursing, sensitive gains in mobility, functional independence in ADLs, hospital admission and rehabilitation time, quality of life and mortality rate, and health expenditures emerge were found. Fracture of the femur is usually associated with a fall from a height and occurs mainly in independent females in ADLs. In this population, gains that are sensitive to rehabilitative nursing care are recognized in the scientific evidence. The rehabilitation nurse thus has a relevant role in the qualification and quality of life of the person, with evident implications in the elderly care, in an institutional and community context.

ABSTRACTObjective: to apply the Nursing Care Systematization (NCS) to a patient with Alzheimer's disease under the perspective of Wanda Horta. Methodology: this is a case study with qualitative approach carried out on February and June 2010. Its subjects were an elderly woman with Alzheimer's disease and her caregiver. For the data collection eight home visits were held, in which the nursing care procedures were systematized. The study was approved by the Committee of Ethics in Research Involving Human Subjects of the Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú in Sobral, Ceará, Brazil, under the CAAE 2534.0.000.039-10. Results: with the information collected, three categories emerged: Network of interpersonal ties, where the subjects genogram and genomap were presented, discussing the family structure and the relationships involved; Approach to the informal caregiver, focusing on the responsibility of taking care of the elderly person; and taking care under the light of Wanda Horta, applying NCS to the elderly woman, outlining a caring process according to the needs observed. Conclusion: the participation of nurses in the care to patients with Alzheimer’s disease allows the care to be not carried out in an empirical basis by caregivers, but with efficiency, aiming to the provide quality of life to the carrier of this disease and to her/his family members. Descriptors: nursing assistance; elderly person; Alzheimer’s disease.RESUMOObjetivo: aplicar a Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem (SAE) a uma paciente com Alzheimer sob a ótica de Wanda Horta. Metodologia: trata-se de um estudo de caso com abordagem qualitativa realizado durante os meses fevereiro e junho de 2010. Teve como sujeitos uma idosa portadora de Alzheimer e seu cuidador. Para a coleta de dados realizaram-se oito visitas domiciliares, nas quais foram sistematizados os procedimentos de cuidados de Enfermagem. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa Envolvendo Seres Humanos da Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú em Sobral/CE, sob o CAAE n. 2534.0.000.039-10. Resultados: com as informações coletadas, surgiram três categorias: Rede de laços interpessoais, onde foram apresentados o genograma e ecomapa dos sujeitos, discutindo a estrutura familiar e as relações envolvidas; Abordagem ao cuidador informal, que enfoca a responsabilidade de cuidar do idoso; e Cuidando à luz de Wanda Horta, com a aplicação da SAE à idosa, esboçando um processo de cuidar conforme as necessidades observadas. Conclusão: a participação do enfermeiro no cuidado ao portador de Alzheimer permite que o cuidado não seja realizado de forma empírica por cuidadores, mas com eficácia, visando à qualidade de vida do portador dessa doença e de seus familiares. In outpatient care the home care, including hospices, is recognized as a model for providing quality, cost-effective and charitable care. The focus is mainly on the care that helps everyday lifeof the patient as well as the relatives, rather than on treatment, and in most cases it takes place in the patients' home. In Europe, in recent years there has been a real "boom" in home care due to demographic processes linked to increased needs for elderly care and chronically ill under the conditions of limited financial resources.In outpatient medical care in our country by means of a national framework contract there are regulated visits to the patient's home by a doctor, as well as visits by medical staff employed by him - nurse, midwife, medical assistant / paramedic / for manipulation, counseling and monitoring. At the same time there is no regulated legal activity in the Republic of Bulgaria, which is essentially the subject of home care.Since 1994 „Caritas“ has carried out the "Home Care" service, which provides a complex - health and social care for over 360 sick adults in a place where the elderly person feels the most comfortable - in their own home. „Caritas Home Care“ is provided by mobile teams of nurses and social assistants who visit the elderly at home and provide them with the necessary care according to their health and social needs.With the establishment of the first „Home Care Center“ in Lozenets region, Sofia, with the support of the PHARE ACCESS program in 2003, the Bulgarian Red Cross introduces in Bulgaria an integrated model for provision of health care and social services in the home of adults, chronically ill and people with permanent disabilities. To date, there are a number of problems in home care related to the realization of home care for patients in need in out-of-hospital settings: lack of legal regulation for home care, lack of qualified staff in outpatient care; lack of organization and structures for care; unsettled funding and the inability of the part of the population that is most in need of care to pay for it, there is no regulation to control the activity. Although home care began over 20 years ago, our country is yet to make its way to the European program called „Home care in Europe“.

Falls are one of the leading causes of permanent injury and/or disability among the elderly. When these people live alone, it is convenient that a caregiver or family member visits them periodically. However, these visits do not prevent falls when the elderly person is alone. Furthermore, in exceptional circumstances, such as a pandemic, we must avoid unnecessary mobility. This is why remote monitoring systems are currently on the rise, and several commercial solutions can be found. However, current solutions use devices attached to the waist or wrist, causing discomfort in the people who wear them. The users also tend to forget to wear the devices carried in these positions. Therefore, in order to prevent these problems, the main objective of this work is designing and recollecting a new dataset about falls, falling risks and activities of daily living using an ankle-placed device obtaining a good balance between the different activity types. This dataset will be a useful tool for researchers who want to integrate the fall detector in the footwear. Thus, in this work we design the fall-detection device, study the suitable activities to be collected, collect the dataset from 21 users performing the studied activities and evaluate the quality of the collected dataset. As an additional and secondary study, we implement a simple Deep Learning classifier based on this data to prove the system’s feasibility.
