Corynespora cassiicola is the causal organism of the most devastating leaf disease of rubber in Sri Lanka. Cotton, cowpea, cucumber, eggplant, sesame, soybean, tobacco, and tomato also have been reported as hosts of C. cassiicola. In Sri Lanka, however, the fungus has been reported only on rubber, soybean, winged bean, and tomato (1). During this investigation, C. cassiicola was isolated from cocoa, tomato, papaya, winged bean, sweet potato, and manihot. The pathogenicity of each isolate on the host from which it was isolated was established by following Koch's postulates. This is the first record of Corynespora leaf disease on cocoa, papaya, sweet potato, and manihot in Sri Lanka. Using an aqueous spore suspension (5 × 104 spores per ml), rubber leaves were inoculated separately with each isolate. Inoculation studies indicated that, except for the isolate from papaya, all isolates also were pathogenic on rubber. In Sri Lanka all the host plants listed are commonly cultivated in and around rubber plantations. Therefore, the existence of C. cassiicola infections on other hosts should be taken into account when developing control measures for Corynespora infection on rubber. Reference: (1) P. A Helorid wasp, Helorus ruficornis Förster, 1856, is reported for the first time on Tahiti (Society Islands), which is also the first record of both Proctotrupoidea and family Heloridae in French Polynesia. The potential hosts of Helorus ruficornis in French Polynesia are discussed.

White sweet potato starch (Ipomea batatas L.) and avocado seed starch (Parsea americana Mill) derived from local plants have the potential to be developed as agricultural products. Starch is a hydrocolloid compound as a potential local resource to be utilized. Glycerol function as an anti-freezing which is hygroscopic. This study aims to determine the ratio of white sweet potato starch with avocado seed starch and the concentration of glycerol for making edible film. This study was an experiment using a completely randimized factorial design with 2 (two) main factor consisting of a comparison of white sweet potato starch and avocado seed with 3 levels: P1 = 35%:65%., P2=50%:50%., P3=65%:35% and glycerol concentration with 3 levels: G1=1%., G2=2%., G3=3%. The best result reasearch were content of 23.03% (tratment P1G1), solubility of 55.57% (treatment P3G2)., swelling test of 9.83% (treatment P2g3)., elongation of 8.18% (treatment P3G2)

Extensive survey of mantids in the northeastern Uttar Pradesh was conducted. Two mantid species were recorded for the first time from the target area, viz.: Pyrgomantis pallida, 1917 and Bactromantis mexicana.
